The good: The attractive Lexmark Prevail Pro705 bundles a useful set of features for the office crowd, including wireless connectivity, an autodocument feeder and duplexer, speed text out, and an impressive five-year warranty.
The bad: We don't expect an office-friendly printer to output studio-quality snapshots, but our graphics test document was not without quality flaws.

Black and Color Ink Required

Summary: I have not had any problems with this printer until the color ink ran out. I do not print much in color and just wanted to print a black document. The printer is designed to NOT print anything, even if you have black ink, until you pay to replace the color ink as well. I could never print anything else in color, but I still have to have full color ink sitting there in the machine for the printer to work. This is just a way for Lexmark to continue to suck money out of their consumers. Technical service chat was no help either. None of this information is included in their documentation they send with the printer. If you want a printer to print documents in black ink, make sure you are willing to always front the bill for the color ink as well.

Pros: Ton of features
Good Looking
Wireless ConnectionCons: Ton of features that never work!
Not a great looking paper weight, which is the only function it serves.
Wireless Connection will not stay connected.

Summary: This thing is crap. It never works when you need it. Has never just printed out a job without requiring some additional step from me, i.e., get updates, clean printhead, etc.
Spills ink on the pages during constant resets and recalibrations, and then you're out of colored ink before you ever even print a color document.Customer servivce is friendly, but they don't fix anything. And they high rating it receives on the Lexmark website relative to the reviews every where else should tell you something about the ethics of the company. Obviously, they are picking and choosing reviews or using some other tactic to skew the ratings on their website. Avoid this company. They admit there are issues, but that doesn't fix the issues. Stay away.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Good while it lasts...
by rndacs on November 10, 2011
Pros: Wireless printing and scanning was good while it worked.
Cons: 5 year warranty that it boosts does not do it any good if technical support has no clue. After multiple phones calls over several days and over 8 hours on the phone, printer still didn't work.
Summary: I owed my Pro705 for 16 months. Overall, few problems. But when I had a serious communication issue, it was never resolved. Will never ever buy Lexmark again.. and would ...

Summary: I bought this from HSN the first printhead didn't work so the company replaced the whole printer with a new version printhead so they said. But the second one doesn't work either. We had to go online and have Lexmark take over my computer trying to fix it. They said they are having problems with the heads made in Mexico, but this one is Philipines and doesn't work either. I willl never buy another. I am still in the process of trying to get a replacement machine or get this one fixed. HSN said they cannot replace it and to go through the Lexmark company. Hours on the phone and a big headache. Zero stars from me

Poor quality, disappointed
by Alsoelle on March 2, 2013
Pros: Scans, faxes and prints double sided
Cons: Hinges break so lid won't close properly. Printer replaced under warranty with a refurbished (secondhand) printer. Hinge broke on second printer. Coloured inks - always one that won't print unless you deep clean which empties ALL ink tanks quickly.
Summary: Don't bother

Absolute Junk-Horrible Tech Support-Save your Money

Pros: Nothing that someone better doesn't offer.

Don't wait your money. Try another brand!

Summary: I bought this printer only 8 months ago and I regret buying this printer. My first and last Lexmark purchase. I am going to explore other brands. Although I had other issues with this printer, my most enduring problem is the yield of the ink. I have it set to print with Black ink only and to use the fastest print setting, yet it uses ink at a very high rate. I can not afford to replace the ink every month. At $200 a piece and high cost of ink, this printer is VERY expensive to own. I replaced the black ink and within a couple of weeks, it was already at middle level and then, it stopped printing altogether because the colored inks were low. I only print in black but I guess printing in black ink also uses up the colored ink. How does that make sense? I am now having to shop for another printer because my Lexmark Prevail Pro705 just became a VERY expensive paperweight.
