This is the worst printer I have seen.
by sabuj.sengupta@gmail.com on May 16, 2012
Pros: I do not find any good points to write about
Cons: Terribly slow..wifi is pathetic. Prints half of a page and then pushes out the whole page. Driver is pathetic. Customer support is rude and have zero knowledge about the product. Had lot of expectations frm this. Disappointed. Not at all recommended.
Summary: DO NOT BUY

Good printer for the price.
by lpguay on March 22, 2012
Pros: Great price, good quality document prints, decent quality scanner images. Scans and prints without the computer. One of the best low-end MDF's we looked at.
Cons: Lousy scanner software, lousy envelope prints, big desktop footprint, print speed varies from barely adequate to painfully slow
Summary: Bought 14 months ago, on sale, and pretty satisfied so far. Feature rich, works well without involving the PC for scanning and printing. Duplex printing way overdue on lower-priced inkjets, ...
Summary: Bought 14 months ago, on sale, and pretty satisfied so far. Feature rich, works well without involving the PC for scanning and printing. Duplex printing way overdue on lower-priced inkjets, and very nice to have. Control panel is well-laid out, and having the scanner document feed is great.
Like others, we have had wireless issues. I suspect our home network (5 pcs and several smartphones)and the competing networks in the neighborhood are as much a problem as the printer itself.
Scanner software is useless for working the image after scanning, a huge step backward from what HP supplied with the 12 year old scanner this unit replaced.
Gave up trying to print to envelopes as we always got ink smears.
Printing speed generally ranges between adequate and painfully slow, wired or wireless.
Warts and all, I would still recommend this printer for home user looking for a decent lower-cost MDF ink-jet printer. Exceeded expectations in several areas, and the disappointments are all things we can live with. -
Excellent AIO
by LetGoOrGetDragged on March 20, 2012
Pros: Perfect for home use. The functions (scan, copy, print, and fax) work just fine. Wireless setup was a breeze.
Cons: None, as far as i'm concerned.
Summary: IMO. If you don't need a fancy printer, let alone a fancy aio. This is the one to get.

Good hardware, rubbish software.

Cannot scan unless PC is running. Then requires infuriating sequence of incomprehensible steps before it deigns to do what you want.
Very poor software. Software is generally counter-intuitive. When printing photos, insists on using rear tray - rear tray is inaccessible in my installation. Good example of how to write software according to the designer's pre-conceptions, not the users needs.
Wouldn't buy another Canon. -
Great All-in-one - after the setup headaches

Summary: The hardware setup went smooth and easy. The software setup SEEMED the same at first. But on the second day, neither of my computers(one XP, one Win 7) could locate it. The troubleshooting software was useless since it could not find the printer either. I had to uninstall the CD software and download the updated drivers from Canon. After that, the printer worked great via wi-fi. I especially love the scanner which creates high quality scans of my old photos. They actually seem to be clearer than the original image and it's easy to send them straight to my XP machine(haven't tried sending them to the win 7 laptop). This is a great printer, my advice is skip the CD setup and just get the drivers from the Canon website.

Doesn't stay online
by Colbtron on January 2, 2012
Pros: Good scanning
Cons: Doesn't stay online, have to reinstall it almost every time I want to use it.

Summary: I have had this machine for over a year now and everything works fine - printing, copying, scanning and faxing. It is capable of making good prints of photos but if you want top quality prints you should probably look at another printer.
This is not a printer for someone who does a lot of printing both because there is noticeable processing lag and because the small ink tanks need to be refilled fairly often if the machine is used a lot. -

Summary: Bought one for home office printer ink expensive. Heads clogged no cleaning instructions only replace unit. Called Canon given loyalty rewards discount for refurb unit. Difficult to set up failed communications requires rebooting. Canon will not refund purchase price only replacement is used refurb after they want to waste more of my time trouble shooting same issues over again.
Canon service people don't read the prior emails everyone wants to take you through the same trouble shooting routine every time. Looks good but gums up and you can't clean the heads Canon will not offer new heads only replacement units. Poor customer service from Cannon over 30 emails to customer service that they don't read. I am sick of trying to fix these units wasting my time troubleshooting what should have worked out of the box. My last HP lasted over 10 years this Canon only 13 months and the replacement loyalty unit failed out of the box. Don't bother buying Canon its not worth your time to trouble shoot and Canon will not stand behind the refurb units that fail. -
wireless is worthless!!
by lkg2 on October 15, 2011
Pros: full featured and easy to set up - works great at times but...
Cons: never know whether it is going to spit out printed pages OR (more often) give a printer error message and NOTHING I have tried will fix it. After hours of fighting with it and getting NOTHING printed, I was working away 14 hours later and it began to pri
