Good Multifunction if not on a network
Pros: If you are not using the HP Jetdirect print server and the printer is not on a network it will work well.
Cons: Once a LAN is involved, go a buy something else. HP does not how to solve the issue once the network is involved. I even had a HP technical person told me the fax was not support via the network a nd their proprietary print server. What a fiasco!! I per

FAX/Printers are not rocket science
Pros: Good looking printout
Cons: Too complex for a FAX/Printer to use. Tooooo many buttons not well marked. Does not seem to want to work with Vontage, Internet Phone system.

Useless due to HP software bug
Pros: A nice standalone fax machine, a fine laserprinting engine and photocopier, nothing more.
Cons: The HP software/drivers, namely the "HP communications" process, are deficient. No fix. By no means is this an "all in one" machine.

Summary: Yes, my cons to this printer (so far) are the speed an paper capacity. But then again I knew that before I bought it. I work in a small business environment and this little workhorse is perfect for me. It copies well, prints well and I have yet to have any problems with it. I have read reviews that pictures don't turn out so nicely and they don't. Last I knew printing pictures was something you did on a photo printer.
Overall I would recommend this all-in-one for a small office environment. If you need speed or crisp graphics I would not recommend it. -
HP is the way to go if you're using this for work.
by siquedude on July 3, 2006
Pros: Reliable workhorse printer for small business with no warmup to print.
Cons: Initial spooling is quicker but when you're printing out different files at the same time, it takes longer to load.

Summary: I've seen newbies go through Lexmark, Canons and HP like nothing. These bad ratings are due to their inability to work a simple thing like a printer. I've worked with Canon, Lexmark, Samsung, and HP. From inkjet to lasers, there has been nothing more reliable than an HP printer. This is my second HP laser printer only b/c I gave the first one to my sister and I needed extra functions like copy, fax, & scan. It takes only seconds to shoot out paper, not like other laser printers that require to warm up before printing which can get real annoying.

VERY SLOW Scan /Fax action is not reliable. Software freezes and you have to start over.

Pros: Printing looks good
Cons: Manual use button requires activating ALOT, many times in the middle of a print job!
Summary: This printer is best if used for just printing. The Scan/Fax software is cumbersome, slow and not always reliable. I have an old HP 3150 that had much better/...
Summary: This printer is best if used for just printing. The Scan/Fax software is cumbersome, slow and not always reliable. I have an old HP 3150 that had much better/faster software, printing, scanning, and faxing. Uses the smaller capacity/more expensive cartridge faster than my old 3150 also.

Summary: I have been using this printer in my office for the last 2 years and it has been great. I have it setup on a wireless print server and it handles all the printing and faxing for the office 7 people in all. We have run over 25,000 pages without a problem. Could not get a better All-In-One for the money.

Works for me!
by btexp on December 20, 2005
Pros: Cheap, Quality Printouts, Easily Networkable

Summary: HP must have updated their software. I have the 3015 connected to my Apple Airport network via a HP JetDirect 300. Mac support is minimal, but I loaded the Windoze software to my XP based machine with no problem. I manually entered the IP number, but from there it was very smooth. Configuring the fax was flawless. I'm using it with SunRocket. I have the fax set to detect a dedicated number that rings twice. So, I have a dedicated fax line, plus a voice line for $17 per month!
Print and text copies are excellent. Grayscale copies are good but not excellent.
Faxes seem a little bit slow. However, you can set a timer and let the fax do its thing. I don't use the scanner, I have a dedicated epson flatbed which is excellent. I doubt that my usage will exceed 500 pages a month. If you need to process 2000 plus pages a month, I might consider something more substantial. However, as a copier, printer and fax machine for $189, this machine fits my needs superbly. -

I love the one touch scanning and the color quality is very good. The only negatives which are easy to fix by HP. When scanning or faxing legal paper you are going to end up with a pile on the floor. The wire on the front needs to be bigger and the back support needs an extender... Cardboard works but it looks tacky. The fax quality is not all that hot compared to my Panasonic fax but it's good enough. Software is broken up into two programs, which are confusing, but over all once you figure it out you will be very happy. HP reliability means a lot when you are scanning and faxing documents. Last thing I would want to see is the ability to scan in a large fax one sheet at a time and then fax directly from the machine.
This is my first posting on CNET and I'm doing this because I've had my 3015 for over a month now and use it every day and didn't think it deserved to get slammed so hard.
