The good: Fast wireless 5GHz throughput; storage included; easy to use; true dual-band; guest networking; printer and network storage support; works with Apple Time Machine software; good-looking design.
The bad: Expensive; limited networking and network storage features; no bundled backup software for Windows; hard drive is not user-serviceable; no media or iTunes server; picky support for USB printers; only three Ethernet ports; no Web interface; no remote access for Windows users; setup, administration, and storage sharing require OS X 10.4 or later; runs hot.
The bottom line: Apple Time Capsule is a convenient and simple wireless router and NAS server combo for your home. Unfortunately, especially in the case of the 1TB version, you can find better deals on devices that offer greater storage space and many more features for the price.

Summary: I bought the time capsule just about 2 years ago. I'm a big fan of apple and I loved the design and the concept of having a wonderful, searchable backup that said the time broke within the first 6 months. Ok so it was under warranty so apple replaced it. Now a bit more than a year later and it's broke again (power supply dead) only this time it's not under warranty so now I'm out the $600 for the product that was supposed to protect all of my important data and just to add insult to injury this is apparently a common and known problem that apple won't fess up to. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2009/nov/04/apple-time-capsule-failures-early
Cons: 2,4Ghz does not go faster than 150Mb/s, 5G goes to 300, but at start up, Macbook chooses mostly 2,4Ghz (stronger signal). When making 2 separate SSID's it still prefers 2,4 ignoring the preference list. At present I can't even login the 5Ghz signal.

Summary: I did want a seamless working NAS backup tool, bought this trusting Apple's quality. It's not seamless, it's asking a constant level of attention, re-entering passwords, start & stop Time Machine, etc.. Don't buy this.
Pros: I loved the ease of set up and the back up for multiple Macs at home! Signal strength wasn't an issue, even with the first edition (it's been update twice since)
Cons: I HATED the fact that two months out of warrantee mine died... power supply issue and the unit is NOT SERVICEABLE!! Be careful and if back ups are crucial I'd suggest additional hard drive back ups OUTSIDE your Time Capsule!
