The good: Apple's new 2TB Time Capsule offers more storage for the dollar than previous models and significantly improved wireless networking performance.
The bad: Experts will wish the Time Capsule offered more networking configurability, and users that copy large files frequently between systems will want a traditional NAS drive and its faster data read speeds.
The bottom line: The new 2TB Time Capsule brings improved price competitiveness and faster networking performance to Apple's Wi-Fi router/NAS drive combo device, which will satisfy consumers in need of a multipurpose networking device.

Powerful WIFI, friendly, and it works with PCs.
by getclay on April 26, 2012
Pros: 1. Most powerful wireless connection that I ever installed.
2. Easy to configure and manage on PC.
3. MS Vista and 7 backup app works great, and other backup applications work.
4. Fastest connection that I ever had after d-link, netgear.Cons: 1. Has some limited network configuration, but I am not running a big business (8 devices on my small business network).
2. PC users will need to purchase backup software or depend on MS apps, but they work great.Summary: Been in IT for 20 years, mostly a PC advocate, but Apple is really turning things around. This is really a great device, and it works well for PC users. ...
Summary: Been in IT for 20 years, mostly a PC advocate, but Apple is really turning things around. This is really a great device, and it works well for PC users. I purchased Ipads and apple TV for the family, and I we were primarily PC users in the past.
I can't even begin to explain how many problems we had connecting with the most expensive d-link, netgear, and linksys wireless routers. I just purchased the time capsule on a whim, and all of our devices connected with full signal strength. I really don't care about anything else since all of our devices are working without failure (PCs, ipads, ipods, and other devices).
I realize the cost of this device is expensive at $299, but you would spend that much on a wireless router without the same signal strength and a 2T backup device that required a hassle in backing up all devices. The darn thing works without any hassle and is attached by any wireless device.
So some would say that this is a a terrible NAS and you could lose all of your data, but redundant NAS devices also fail. I do backup my devices on a portable usb 2T drive also, and this is my fail safe. You should also have a contingency plan even if you use a redundant NAS device.
The Apple experience in the last year has been fun, especially the IPAD and Apple TV. I think there is a place for both the PC and Apple products, and I am really happy having both products on my network.
Everything is working on the time capsule!!!2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Two floors down, expect very slow connection speeds.
by mrgk--2008 on May 2, 2013
Pros: Works OK as wireless HD for back-up with Time Machine.
Cons: Very slow connection speeds (10 fold reduction in download speed), unless you are sitting in the same room as the Time Capsule.

Summary: I bought this as my wireless storage, two weeks back. Still couldn't connect this with my Linksys ADSL WIFI Router WAG 120N to an existing home network. Initial setting up was ok. But It gets repeatedly disconnected from the network. i might have done 10 resets by now. I am getting frustrated by this. If anybody could give me a solution for this? i wil be quiet thankful or else i would have to throw this apple out. I never had such a bitter and frustrated experience from any of my other apple products. I blindly bought this without checking because it was from APPLE.

GREAT Accessory to the iMac & a MUST have for back-ups.
by DOMINUCE on January 29, 2012
Pros: Works on Wireless N,Completly wireless, can function as a Wireless Hub.
Cons: can't be connected via ethernet, for more Back-up options.

Summary: While there are a lot of External HD's out there...I find that this one works better with Mac's & iMacs because of the Time Machine functions. The only REAL gripe i have is that like all OTHER External HD that i can connect via ethernet, this one can't be done with the Time Capsule which can put a strain on your Wireless Network if you have more than one device connected then having another connection option would help.

Wanted one for a while, Finally got it.
by leatherboy41 on July 23, 2011
Pros: The 2gb storage is great. I actually almost bought one the day before the product refresh and was really confused on the day the new ones came out because I couldn't find the 1gb anymore. I think its a great deal as my att provided router is sketchy
Cons: The power and range could be better. Also I've had a little bit of lag when accessing files on the hard drive that I had hoped wouldn't be there.

Many failings, too expensive.
by brymarkie on August 7, 2012
Pros: Works sometimes
Cons: Has many compatibility issues. You will spend countless hours trying to configure the device.
Summary: Not user-friendly in any way, shape or form. The time capsule is horrible and slow and a mess. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away.
