Summary: I'm impressed with this server. Very easy to setup. It was almost instantly recognized by all computers in my office. RAID is also very straightforward. There's a button on the back of the unit that needs to be pushed to switch between the modes. The admin interface is understandable, and can be customized. And, most importantly the unit works great.

Summary: This is a perfect option for a reliable, central storage solution. We've bought LaCie 5big Network 2 to replace an old server that we had for many years and that needed a lot of maintenance to keep everything working. LaCie NAS is much easier to manage. The administrator interface is easy too. I've plugged it in, setup some folders, did permissions and everyone in the office sees the drive, saves all their files and it's always backed up.

Summary: Excellent unit. Very easy to setup, does not require special technical staff even if the setup is done in an organization with several computers on the network. The server supports encryption, allows link aggregation to increase the performance, RAID can be configured very easily, the browser-based admin interface is also pretty easy to use. I had a clarification question regarding my setup, so I contacted LaCie technical support, they were very helpful. Overall this is a very flexible centralized server solution, also quite inexpensive considering all the features offered and the build quality .

The web-based user interface is good, easy to understand once you spend a few minutes with it. RAID configuration was a snap. UPNP/DLNA support works well. The unit is very fast on the network, and very quiet. Excellent choice of features. And a very reasonable price when compared to competing NAS devices at this level.

Summary: Awesome storage solution. We've installed it in our office nine month ago and people are very happy with the performance. Initial setup was very easy, and the web-based administrator interface is user-friendly. The software recognized the device without any issues and quite rapidly. While I am writing this, I'm doing the complete backup of my other machine. 5big Network 2 has been doing great all this time and deserves the 5 stars I'n giving it.

Summary: I'm a pro photographer, so I needed a lot of storage. I wanted something fast and quiet. And, of course, I needed something with a large capacity. I've heard from different sources that it's hard to beat LaCie 5big Network 2 servers in terms of features/price/quality ratio. LaCie 5big Network 2 delivers all of that. I'm very happy with the unit and highly recommend it to anybody with similar needs to mine.

Summary: I was balancing a lot between LaCie 5big Network 2 and another model and after reading a number of reviews decided to go with LaCie. I'm glad I did. This NAS works remarkably well and even in a mirrored raid has good response times. The configuration was very easy, unlike what I thought. All in all, a great purchase for the price and I know from the past experience with LaCie drives, that LaCie stands behind their products.
