Worked perfectly! No install problems at all!
by mootoratas on July 30, 2011
Pros: Simple to install (no idea how the other two reviewers managed to screw it up... and who still uses WEP anyway???). It does what it says on the tin without any fuss, perfectly happy!
Cons: none - well, a more neutral colour (white/beige instead of black) to blend in with the wall it's mounted on would be better.

A waste of time and money.
by mrdeternet on December 14, 2012
Pros: Connects to router easily via WPS feature.
Cons: Times out about every 15 to 20 minutes. Especially annoying while using the streaming video feature on blu rays via Netflix. Getting the box and stuff together to take this POS back to Staples.

THIS PRODUCTS DOES NOT STAY CONNECTED. REALLY BAD.
by netgearisalosser on July 8, 2012
Pros: CAN'T FIND ONE.
Cons: NEVER STAYS CONNECTED LONG ENOUGH TO GET DOWNLOADS. THRU PUT IS CUT IN HALF BECAUSE IT ONLY HAS ONE RADIO.
Summary: TRASH. DON'T BUY. NETGEAR SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THIS PRODUCT.

It will not stay connected.
by carib909 on March 29, 2012
Pros: Easy setup.
Cons: It disconnects and prevents you from connecting to your own wireless router while not connected! You have to keep power cycling!
Summary: If a firmware update does not fix the dropped connections, this will be deemed useless!

Very easy to setup, but doesn't work very well.
by trcylk on January 23, 2012
Pros: Very easy to configure even with security. Found my home router and connected to it without a problem.
Cons: Would not allow communications out to the Internet.
Summary: Every device I would use showed a strong signal strength, and would associate with the extender, but I couldn't get out to the Internet. My iPOD-Touch and my daughter'...

Summary: Every device I would use showed a strong signal strength, and would associate with the extender, but I couldn't get out to the Internet. My iPOD-Touch and my daughter's iPhone worked most of the time, but not my Android phone, Window's laptop, or Roku TV Set-Top Box could get out to the Internet without my having to re-boot my router/AP everytime I wanted to use it.
That may say something about Apple devices, not sure what. But I'm sure there's a wifi extender out there that won't be such a hassle to use.

It gets the job done!

Pros: 5 bars of signal, my wireless laptop has not lost connection to the internet since I purchased this item, you can connect it to wireless and wired (Ethernet) items, cost isn't too bad at 79.99. (69.99 on sale at Best buy)
Cons: you have to have it plugged directly to wall socket and not a surge protector

Summary: This extender is awesome. What it does is gives you additional wireless (wifi) signal when you are having a spotty signal. My laptop had been dropping off the internet for months and I tried upgrading to higher bandwidth with my broadband provider. That only made it worse for some strange reason. So I reverted back to 7-9 upload speed and I found this range extender in best buy on sale for 69.99 regular price 79.99. Not only did it give me all 5 bars for signal. My lap top has not dropped a signal since I added it. I also rerouted my sharp aquos to this device bc it's getting a better signal then the router. I have my dvr and play station and Verizon phone connected to this device.

Great product
by wevvie on August 24, 2011
Pros: Ease of setup
Great range
good tech support
Cons: Smart Wizard not so smart
Summary: Our upstairs location would only receive a decent wifi signal in one place although neighbors suggested that they got a strong signal from our unsecured Apple router downstairs.

I love Netgear products and shopped for this unit at a great price from fry's.
Initial setup, without any security was very easy and intuitive. Took about 10 minutes. We ran a cat-5 cable to the Blu-Ray DVD player and everything worked perfectly. Strong signal to every room upstairs (and maybe down the street).
My only beef came when I decided to add security to the router and the Range Extender. The interface was not quite the same and the instructions were not comprehensive enough and after several attempts, I contacted tech support. We repeated some things over and over until I finally realized that the tech, likely in India or the Philippines, was stating his instruction incorrectly. I decided on what he probably meant and everything just fell into place.
I recomment Netgear products regularly as they seem to always work well.

Would be a 4+ if the installation was better
by raymondbrothers on February 15, 2011
Pros: 4 wired ethernet ports rather than just one. Decent wireless performance.
Cons: Setup was awful. If your current wifi router uses a passphrase you should be OK. If it is an old one with a hand entered WEP key it will take trial-and-error to make it work.
Summary: It should not take trial-and-error to make this work. If you hand entere a WEP key it goes into an "enter passphrase loop". Finally I got frustrated and powered it ...

Summary: It should not take trial-and-error to make this work. If you hand entere a WEP key it goes into an "enter passphrase loop". Finally I got frustrated and powered it off and on and it worked and I really don't know why. If you have newer equipment and know what the router passphrase is and not just the WEP key, you should be good.

Could be a great product if I could get it installed
by mccauleybil on December 27, 2010
Pros: Elegant concept
Cons: Set up guide is inaccurate! The website called out for assistance does not exist...... Spent HOURS attempting to get this setup, and threw in the towel.
Summary: I still want this, or some other product to fill the gap my home's wireless network requires! Unfortunately, this product leaves me looking elsewhere.
