The good: The Acer Aspire S7 is a premium-looking ultrabook, with great performance, strong battery life, and a high-res touch screen.
The bad: The expensive S7 is priced well beyond most other touch-screen Windows 8 laptops. The touch pad is not as responsive as it should be.
The bottom line: One of the few standout products from the first wave of Windows 8 laptops, the Acer Aspire S7 proves that Apple does not have a monopoly on great design.

Worth every penny (and then some)

Pros: Extremely high "cool" factor, very functional as a business laptop, perfect way to experience Windows 8
Cons: Wifi not reliable on certain networks (if this is important to you, make sure you will be able to return it if you find it doesn't work well on your network).

Summary: I purchased the $1400 version of this laptop with the i5 processor and 128 GB storage. I agree with everything the CNET reviewer says, except that I do not feel like this was overpriced - in fact, after using this for a week I would been comfortable paying more for this. Also, I should clarify that while the touch PAD may not be the most responsive out there (I have no complaints though), the touch SCREEN is very responsive and very enjoyable to use. My only complaint about this laptop is that the built-in wifi and bluetooth have been awful. The wifi works fine on most networks but only intermittently on others (whereas my two older laptops have not had any problems at all). Bluetooth also frequently has issues. Fortunately, it's otherwise such a solid laptop that I'm able to overlook these problems.
