Nice upgrade
by ajmac on April 16, 2010
Pros: Great screen, nice keyboard, fast processor, not plastic, great battery life, can run Windows if you need to do so, GREAT customer service. No Blu-Ray. Lets face it, you do not need it and it is buggy and a dying technology.
Cons: Pricey, but its not a piece of crap plastic windows box. Its a BMW not a Ford. Would have been nice to have USB 3 but not standard in PCs yet either and new Intel technology will make USB 3 die soon too.
Summary: If you are a Mac fan, like a well designed computer, don't want PC plastic box and your current computer is over 2 years old, check it out

Amazing... Better for graphic design than Sony
by febedesigns on April 20, 2010
Pros: Mini Display Port is smaller than a pencil eraser and can adapt with sound
Lightning fast, can run 10 high res Photoshop windows without flinching
Multi touch trackpad even has a "back and forward" feature, and is not overly sensitive, no accidentsCons: Makes a bit of noise when running install CD. Have not tried an audio cd, but all my music is digital anyway
The front edge is sharp, but if thats what apple needs to do to get it out quicker, Ill deal with itSummary: I waited since January for this to come out, and after receiving it, I am not disappointed!

Its sleek and fast, and as a print Graphic Designer I need to be able to run multiple high resolution images in various programs. When my powerbook finally crashed in January, I borrowed my cousins Sony laptop, which is apparently meant for gaming. Although it only had a Duo Core chip, it was comparable in most ways, it even had 12 gigs of ram instead of the 8 that my new MBP has. However it was obviously slower and was prone to freezing for up to 30 seconds when trying to multitask.
I was really waiting for an HDMI port on the new MBP, so when it was not released with one, I was disappointed. But as soon as it was announced that the MiniDisplay could transmit sound, I decided to have an open mind.
I bought an adapter for hdmi for $8.50 on amazon, and it works exactly the same as an hdmi port with only one cord instead of the idiotic 2 cord system. I also plugged in into my high def 40 inch monitor with the minidisplay and was very happy with the outcome. The Sony only had hdmi and it was not nearly as sharp.
All in all, if you need to be able to process a lot of applications at once, this is the computer for you. Its a pretty hefty price tag of course, so if you don't feel you need it, just don't get it.4 out of 6 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: Core i7 8gb of ram 500gb hd running at 7200 rpm... This thing is fast, the fastest boot up i've ever seen. Trackpad is amazing like always and the new screen is brilliant
Cons: i only have one complaint and it is the obvious.. price but ill say it, if you can afford the price you will not be disappointed. I dont use blue ray and the display port beats hdmi any day in ress

I can get a powerhouse PC desktop and a good PC laptop
by gogocoupons-com on April 18, 2010
Pros: No doubt its a beautiful, powerful computer, but for the price I can get a supremely powerful PC desktop computer with an i7 quad chip, 8 megs ram ,750 gig hard drive spinning at 7200 and an excellent video card,PLUS a good, lightweight laptop.
Cons: The price is crazy. Sorry, as I wrote, you can buy a pc desktop that will be smoking fast and 10 times more capable than ANY laptop (not just a Mac) PLUS you can buy a decent laptop for the same price or less than just the Mac.
Summary: Be rational.....don't spend that kind of money on ANY one computer unless you're using it over a Dreamworks or getting ready to put a lunar orbiter into ...

Summary: I own many Mac products including this one. Yes some may be overpriced - but stop writing bad reviews not having bought one. We get your point. Either buy the product and write a review, or stop hating and move on. If you bought it and it didn't live up to expectations - write about it. If you don't buy, please spare us the PC / Mac melodrama. This is a USER REVIEW, not a open to public how to you FEEL session.
Yes I bought this product. Yes some Apple products are over-priced. but yes they give me the freedom to feel at piece with my purchase. Not saying that everyone should/needs to feel that way.
I have the 15 inch. It works really well with my lifestyle. It does what I want it to. No more. No less. Internet, Wordprocessing, Graphic editing, Video editing, Photo editing. It does it quickly, efficiently, and I am very happy with my (not over priced) purchase.4 out of 7 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great notebook, but no real change in this "new" MBP's
by CrunchDude on April 15, 2010
Pros: Best battery life in the industry; Core i5/i7 (dual-core only, though) upgrades, nice LED-backlit screen, Mac OS X 10.6.3; runs Windows 7 as well
Cons: No USB 3.0, No eSATA, no CPU upgrade for the 13" MBP's, only two USB 2.0 and ill-placed at that; no improvement of the LCD (no IPS/no RGB LED); weak graphics with a max of only 512MB dedicated VRAM; NO option for higher-spec'd Core i7's
Summary: Core i5/i7 at long last but NO option for a quad-core, and NO option for a Core i7 Extreme edition; it should be up to the user, not Apple, ...
Summary: Core i5/i7 at long last but NO option for a quad-core, and NO option for a Core i7 Extreme edition; it should be up to the user, not Apple, if battery life or an Extreme Edition Core i7 is what we want. Same everything as the Unibody Mac's from TEN months ago. Lame.
CNET/potential buyers: The Core i7 that is in the highest-end 15" and highest-end 17" MBP is *not* Quad-core as your specs would have users believe. It is the Core i7-620M, a 2.66GHz DUAL-core i75 out of 10 users found this user opinion helpful.

Think Before You Write
by sarcasmunlimited on April 16, 2010
Pros: Innovative graphics switching capabilities, the best battery life in the business, impressive performance (just look at the cnet charts), and that beloved apple intuitiveness
Cons: Still no blue-ray (can no longer stand to hear that tired line, besides who actually buys dvds and blue-rays anymore, just download them), no HDMI (buy an adaptor and quit your ********), expensive (what were you expecting, this is apple)
Summary: At the risk of sounding hypocritical let me point out that this section is in fact called "user" reviews not "people looking to vent their anger at apple" reviews. Though ...
Summary: At the risk of sounding hypocritical let me point out that this section is in fact called "user" reviews not "people looking to vent their anger at apple" reviews. Though I have not personally used the mbp I at least maintain the integrity to not bash it before I even use. However, I can at least cite my reasons for such a decent rating. Last years mbp received some of the highest user and editor reviews of any laptop on cnet, so the fact that this years mbp with greatly improved processing capabilities and graphics technologies posts only a paltry 2.5 stars speaks only for the pathetic idiocracy of mac-haters. In actuality, the new mbp update has actually improved upon a superior platform. Though it is missing some features, there is nothing absent that one cannot reasonably overcome. And as for those bashing the new 13 inch version, listen to the guys who actually know computers. In the intersest of maintaining a decent battery life all the while staying within the size parameters of the smaller 13 inch design the engineers had to make certain sacrifices. The result? An efficient laptop that is more than capable for any reasonable consumer computing application all wrapped in sleek aluminum and still very light. ( The lightness factor and battery life is rather important to me since a laptop is supposed to be portable, isn't it?)

Summary: This is my 3rd Mac, all of which has lasted 5 years before I sold them to upgrade to a better one. The ones that I sold have lasted the other person?s years with no issues as well. Mac's are well built and since all programs and firmware are all Apples you don't run into issues like you would if you brought a PC base system. When it comes to price yes they are more money but you get a higher end system to start with and you get one on one customer service from a person in this country that speaks English as well as walking into an apple store. If you take care of your Mac it will take care of you and last you far beyond what a dell or a HP would. My MacBook Pro has been to Iraq twice with no issue; which is great with the heat and fine sand they have there. I have it dual booted with snow leopard and vista both run great. Vista runs better on my Mac than my work PC. I just picked up the new MacBook PRO I7 2.6 and 8GB ram. So far so good and I may put windows 7 just to learn some of the features and how many of them they stole from Mac and still failed to make work like a Mac. I work at helpdesk doing PC support.
