Terrible product; worse service

Pros: Hard to find any.

Summary: I purchased a custom-built Envy 17 directly from HP. The computer did not run properly from the moment that I pushed the power button. After spending hours and hours with tech-support over months, Wallace (a member of the issues escalation team) told me that my mistake was being too patient. If you can believe it -- he told me, in a rude raised tone, that what I should have done was refuse to work with tech support and ask for a refund or a new computer and that because I didn't ask for a new computer more quickly, I am stuck with a machine that displays "blue screen" literally on the day after it arrived back from being "fixed" by HP. The only thing worse than the product is the service.

Pros: Looks great -
Cons: Well it is an HP - and they won't honor a warrenty - are horrible to deal with over the phone and wouldn't let us speak to a supervisor.

Summary: DOA - out of the box the computer wouldn't boot. Spent 2 hours with tech support then waited 3 days for new boot disks. Of course they didn't work. Now HP won't replace - it seems waiting to give this as a Christmas gift was a bad idea. If you don't return a DOA item from HP within 21 days (we bought this black friday and opened it on Christmas) they won't honor their warrenty. Their only solution is to try to replace it at the retail store. I own 8 different laptops - the acer we bought lasted us 7 years, I have a wide variety of brands, price points and processors but I can tell you I will NEVER buy and HP product again.
