  Great laptop for the money

  Pros: Nice big, bright 17" screen. First time i3 user and pleasantly surprised. 4GB RAM. Decent appearance -- after all the stickers were removed :)

  Cons: Battery life is not all that great: around 2-2.5 hours (with wireless on). Would have preferred 1920x1080 instead of 1600x900 but cannot really complain given the price (480USD). Left hand-side gets "toasty" (just below keyboard)

  Summary: Cannot comment on the original hard drive. I only booted into Windows 7 once to see if the computer worked out of the box. It appeared reasonably fast for a 5400RPM drive. Replaced the drive with a SSD drive and installed Fedora (Linux).

  Summary: I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. Large display with sharp, vibrant graphics. Excellent sound quality (you can put away the headphones and speakers!), which makes viewing movies a pleasure. Real-time when video chatting using the built-in webcam (no lags). Responsive touchpad. Fast processing. Setup was a breeze-I connected to my home network and connected my printer via Bluetooth in under 3 minutes. Also this model is surprisingly light and portable for its size. HDMI port, 3 USB ports, DVD+/-RW drive, sleek design. Only con was I had to delete some unnecessary miscellaneous software that came included, but that's pretty much standard for any netbook or laptop you'll purchase. Overall, I highly recommend it.
  
  So, if you are looking for a budget laptop with good performance, this model should definitely be one of your top considerations. Of course, there are many excellent models of laptop under $500 in Amazon.com.   excellent machine, well worth the price

  Summary: Within a matter of hours, i got rid of windows on this machine (for ubuntu, of course), so i can't say much about included software, other than the fact that i personally hate it. i did notice that the integrated speakers have a very crappy sound to them, and they are much too quiet. runs very well with ubuntu, haven't had problems so far. also, headphone output is exceptionally loud, so that is a big plus
