The good: High-end look and feel; good keyboard; large touch pad; Intel Wireless Display, Nvidia Optimus graphics switching; very affordable for the features.
The bad: Mediocre battery life; no Bluetooth; entry-level Nvidia GeForce graphics.
The bottom line: Slickly designed and amply featured, the Samsung QX410 looks and plays the part of a more expensive high-end laptop at a price that's a solid value.
Get it! The computer is amazing, and can do anything.

Pros: Love the screen; extremely nice. The keyboard is wonderful as well, and is so easy to type on. The whole look and feel is unbelievable for the price that you get it for, and the touchpad is awesome; its multitouch with the same gestures as the mac.
Cons: The only beef I have with this computer is that the battery life lasts about 3 to 4 hours; its a major upgrade from my old one shich lasted maybe an hour and a half but it just looks like it can last longer.

Summary: Absolutely love how quick this computer is, and the responsiveness of the trackpad and the keyboard. When you close the lid and open it back up, it quickly goes straight to the screen you were on which is nice. The whole design is well thought out and high quality. You are definitely getting more for your money compared to other computers in this price range, and I highly recommend it.
Great value for the price but beware of one thing...

Summary: I spent hours reading reviews for this laptop and one major negative factor caught my eye. Hoping the taskbar flicker/glitch issue was a fluke for only a small percentage of the QX410-J01, I purchased the laptop in good faith that Samsung wouldn't sell a laptop with such a major issue. Upon powering up the laptop and connecting to the internet, I went straight to my favorite media websites to watch my favorite videos and clips to only find the sad truth that the screen flicker/glitch, when watching videos at full screen, is all to true. The flicker/glitch occurs when you watch online videos at full screen. Any overlay icon or graphic will flicker and you will see a continuous taskbar glitch. When one adjusts the settings to minimize this issue, the quality of the video has the look of a laptop from the mid 90's, terrible and unacceptable. I am a laptop user that simply enjoys the benefits of decent quality online media when I have the time and to not be able to enjoy this function on a mid-high end laptop that costs this much?.. Wow Samsung! I will be returning this laptop as I consider this an unacceptable manufacture defect and hope that the next iteration in the following months will have this fixed.
It was great for the three weeks it worked....
by beccad100 on December 21, 2010
Pros: I like the notebook's design, especially the keyboard, the port selection, the processor speed, the 640 gig hard drive, the touchpad and the size.
Cons: I wish bluetooth was included and I really don't care for the flimsy plastic cover over 2 of the USB ports.

Summary: I shared other reviewers' excitement about this great-looking laptop from Samsung for the first few weeks of ownership. The setup experience was great and I found the laptop very comfortable to type with. I did a lot of research about this laptop before I bought. Unfortunately, I didn't research Samsung's quality of support.
Then yesterday. I opened the lid, expecting to get a photo project completed in time for the holidays. Nothing. No power. The unit had been plugged in, the green light was on the power supply, the green light was on on the front of the laptop. But, the laptop will not power up. I now have a large 3-week-old paperweight. I was frustrated, but not unhappy until I called Samsung "product support" for service. Their level of service is completely unacceptable to me. I was told that this was a known issue with this laptop and a chip of some sort would need to be replaced. The rep I spoke with lied to me and told me he would send me a UPS next day label. Wrong. They sent a ground label. A follow up call confirmed that they will ONLY send UPS ground labels. Bottom line -- I will be without this new laptop for 10+ business days (I added the + due to the holidays). I'm past the return window, so Best Buy won't do anything. I cannot go without a computer (already sold my old laptop) for 10+ days, so it looks like I'm off to buy another laptop (which will NOT be a Samsung) and hope I can sell this laptop, once repaired, to someone for close to what I paid for it.
I understand products have defects. I know there will be some inconvenience when this happens. However, the lack of responsiveness, the lies I was told by the first rep I spoke with, and the general "just read the script" info provided by the reps I spoke with at Samsung frustrate me. We have a Samsung big screen TV that, fortunately, has worked great for 2+ years. However, this experience has frustrated me to the point that I will never purchase another product with a Samsung label again. A great product is nothing without good service.
Can do most things very easily.

Pros: The processor can do just about anything you would need it to do. Their is Plenty of ram, plus you can expand if you really need to(most people wont). The overall look and feel is great. Its light and very thin. Big hard drive for the price.
Cons: The mouse pad tends to freak out a little when you try to use to fingers at the same time. If your looking to play games on it, it will only play most at the lowest settings.
Summary: It is a great pick for the price ($800). But if you want to play games then I would go for a better graphics card. the geforce 310m is entry ...

Beautiful machine with one (in my opinion) major flaw
by doodlebug83 on December 19, 2010
Pros: Sleek look
Decent components (for the price range)
Cons: Screen - resolution and backlighting --> this was the dealbreaker for me.
Hard drive could've been a bit faster (I had hoped for a 7200 rpm)

Summary: I purchased this laptop as a replacement after absymal service from Dell (small and medium business, not home) forced my to return my Latitude, and this seemed like the perfect laptop for me. While the machine itself is great, I was higly disappointed by the screen, especially considering that Samsung is so well known for their tvs (I have two of them and love them). Not only was the resolution not the best, but on THREE machines there was a problem with the backlighting. Dark spots (like extended shaddows) existed on the periphery of the screen. On the first one there was a "shaddow" down by the bottom left hand corner, extending from the start button to about four inches from the left hand side of the screen. On my second machine, the shaddow extended from the top left corner almost the entire width of the screen. On the third one it existed on the top as well, although it wasn't as long. The internal componenets of the laptop were great and I really loved it, but I couldn't get over the poor quality of the lcd. I am now trying out an HP and hoping for better quality (although I must admit I'm a bit jaded at this point).
What is up with the screen resolution??
by rekhapc86 on December 6, 2010
Pros: Speed, Super Fast and WiMax (Love it!)
Cons: What is up with the screen resolution? Makes watching videos on Hulu or new movies from Netflix like they came out of the 1980s ...my lousy 3 year old dell computer has better resolution!
Summary: Samsung did a great job with the laptop's advanced features, such as WiMax, 7 hour battery life, and processing speed. Which makes me wonder, why the company engineers decided ...
Summary: Samsung did a great job with the laptop's advanced features, such as WiMax, 7 hour battery life, and processing speed. Which makes me wonder, why the company engineers decided not to include a laptop basic feature ...such as a good resolution screen. I tried streaming high-def videos from Hulu and Netflix movies on this laptop...though the loading speed was great...the resolution was horrible. My old and dying Dell laptop provided much better video quality. Plus, i'm not so sure if anyone else ran into this issue...but when i maximized the videos from Hulu...the bottom portion of the screen will not stop flickering (ridiculously distracting). So, bottom line...if you do not care much about video quality...then this laptop is a fast and great tool. But if you are like me, and like to catch up on your favoirte TV shows on hulu...then I would not reccomend this computer. A major shame ...especially for a company that is meant to me known for their great TVs. Goes to show, one should not fully tust a product just by its brand name.
The best laptop ever I used!!!
by skim1111 on November 29, 2010
Pros: nice/sleeck design, thin body, nice keyboard/track pad, good speaker and built in cam, SUPER fast performance, deadly silence, light weight for 14" laptops, nice and wide screen, low price compare to what it can do, battery goes 7hrs and everything!
Cons: I don't have anything to say.

I used to use Toshiba laptop which cost me about $1300 was okay but I'm not going to buy Toshiba again(this explains!) I am a college student and this is way above the fine line compare to what I need. I am in love this laptop!

Pros: Good looking

No Keyboard Backlighting

Summary: I bought this laptop out of the blue. The power was out at my house and I forgot the charging cable to my work computer out of town. I really needed a computer so I flew into Best Buy and looked for a decent preforming laptop with a long battery life. I decided that this Samsung laptop would be the best bet for my money and I was right. Out of the box I plugged in my Class 10 SD card and played 1080/24P AVCHD files right off the drive without a problem. That is absolutely amazing. AVCHD is one of the most challenging codecs for computers to play, in fact, it is so difficult Macs don't even support the codec natively, you have to convert all of your files before you do any serious editing. This computer is excellent, my only complaints are that it lacks some fundamental features like bluetooth and a backlit keyboard, in addition to that there is waaaay to much bloatware. All of the Samsung utilities were more of a hindrance then anything. It's a shame.
Great Laptop, Great Price
by chiropaul25 on November 27, 2010
Pros: Fast computer
Sleek Design w/ Brushed Aluminum
MacBook Pro like keyboard
Can Pinch/Zoom/Slide Multi-touch pad like mac
Cons: Screen Resolution is Good, could be better
Mouse is touchy at first, took me 2 days to get used to it

Summary: I was this close to buying a MacBook Pro 13" with the 2.66 processor but just couldn't justify spending $1500+ on it (with 500gb). My wife was ready to kill me because I couldn't make up my mind. Anyway, I picked this bad boy up at Best Buy today for $699!!! Way under list price, it is Black Friday and I guess it was on sale. I wanted the brushed aluminum look and the glossy screen with black bezel like the MBP and this laptop had a larger screen and superior performance specs and was 1/2 the price. The computer is fast and very comfortable to use. It will go through an optimization process in the beginning that takes about 20-30 min but it is well worth it to keep your battery life at the maximum.
7 HOURS BATTERY LIFE!!! Need I say more. I never exceed 2-3 hours off the charger with this but it is nice to never have to worry about the battery. I have been on it for 2.5 hours already today w/out plugging in and it is telling me I have 4hrs left. That is with me surfing the web and syncing my iPhone to iTunes.
I was excited to learn about the multi-touch mousepad on this computer, I didn't even know it had it until I had bought it. Pinch to zoom, swipe up/down to scroll. Pretty awesome coming off a 2 year old laptop with an "old fashioned" mouse.
Lastly is the fan location of the laptop. One thing I loved about the Apple MBP was the fact that the fan vented at the back of the laptop and not the bottom. I frequently put my laptop on my bed and surf the web at night and my old laptop would get so hot it would burn my palms after a while. I usually had to put a book under it to avoid the overheating. This laptop vents out the back and 3 hours on my bed the bottom feels cool and shows not one sign of heating up at all. You cannot hear the fan at all either except if the room is silent and even then it is VERY quiet.
Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase and I think for $699 (Black Friday deal @ Best Buy??) it is a steal. Nothing else in this price range had the style, slimness, and feature set that this Samsung has. I have 2 samsung TV's that have never let me down (one is 3 years old DLP). I can only hope this laptop lives up to those reliability standards. My HP never could.
Overall, an amazing value for money!
by hullio on November 26, 2010
Pros: Value for money
Very quiet/minimal fan noise
Mine has Bluetooth (3.0)
Cons: Bilingual keyboard (Canada)
Screen res. could have been better
Back-lit keyboard would've been nice
Not liking the excess black border around the screen (makes the screen look smaller)
TouchPad gets annoying sometimes

Summary: I purchased this laptop for $799 (also received a Samsung 12MP digicamera) at Future Shop. An Intel i5 460M + 4GB + 640GB HDD for that price is a great buy. The quality of the laptop is amazing. The fit and finish is on point; I'm liking the aluminum casing. The speakers are loud [enough].
Major pro's for me are: running temperature of the laptop and the quietness. This laptop is literally silent. The "Fast Start" option is alright, but I don't use it. Fast Start is basically Sleep Mode and it takes an image of the computer and saves it onto the HDD. However, don't be fooled - it does indeed use battery life. So far, the boot-times are subpar; I'm averaging ~1 min & 50s. I'm probably going to replace the HDD with an SSD soon to increase boot times and overall performance of the laptop.
The battery life has been really good also. I'm not too sure why the main reviewer listed that as a Con...
Also, my laptop DOES have Bluetooth (3.0 to be exact).
Nevertheless, this is a great buy. Honestly, there are no laptops out there that offer this much performance and value for this price range and even laptops which are more expensive.
