Amazing!!!
by pennsu55 on March 3, 2006
Pros: Wide, bright display, easy navigation buttons, fast, and sleek
Cons: Requires short, cords for external video, audio and TV tuner in. Toshiba loads on annoying software that takes up lots of memory and most are only trial versions. Heavy.

Summary: Seeing how great the Qosmio g25 was, I decided to order the not yet rated Qosmio g35 hoping it was as good or better than the g25. I bet right!! This laptop is great. With a few minor cons, it does pretty much everything you want a laptop to do and much more.
The first thing I noticed when I got the laptop was its sleek design with a beautiful wide screen. The second thing I noticed was the nav buttons with the two built-in speakers. Being an audio lover, I was anxious to try the speakers out. They are very good speakers for built-in laptop speakers but don't believe they are going to blow you away! The processor is very good though at times in has a very short lagging period but I was doing multiple things at once. Really nothing to fuss about. I love the volume dial. It is really a nice feature to have.
Now for the cons; this thing is heavy for a laptop. Like 10 lbs!! But you can't have a powerhouse be light, can you? Another minor con was the short cords required to hook up the TV tuner and the composite in for external devices such as Xbox 360 which I haven't figured out how to use the laptop for my screen when playing Xbox. Another con is the software Toshiba pre-loads on. It takes so much memory that the laptop is kind of sluggish when you first boot it up. I had to uninstall most of the pre-installed programs which many of the programs were trial versions anyway. A very minor con is that when using the volume dial, you can't see in comparison how high or low the volume is. I also wish the g35 had more lights. I liked how the g25 had lights on the nav buttons. Now for the biggest con which has nothing to do with the laptop itself but rather Toshiba as a company.
Being one of the first people to order this laptop, I ran into a major problem with Toshiba. I had to send mine back for inspection! About 20 g35's had minor Bluetooth and pixel related problems and of coarse mine was one of the 20 first laptops sent out. Mine had no problems I could see but it is better to get it inspected than regret it later. A pain in the butt but Toshiba made the process as painless as possible. Free overnight shipping. Even so, Toshiba should have checked it out before sending my product. Shame on you!!
All in all, if you are thinking on buying a laptop, I highly suggest the Qosmio g35. It is a great laptop with multiple features. The design is sleek and stylish but a bit pricey.23 out of 24 users found this user opinion helpful.

Good product, bad service
by aronnyc on June 13, 2006
Pros: Toshiba laptops are powerful, cutting-edge. Great sound and picture
Cons: The tech support is the worse I've encountered in the history of tech support. And I assure you I'm not exaggerating

Summary: I apologize in advance if this sounds like a rant. I write this not to vent but to warn future Toshiba customers that, if your laptop ever runs into problems, their tech support will drive you nuts.
I also want to preface this by saying my product was the G15, but I'm also not reviewing the specific product, just their tech support.
About 10 months after I purchased the Qosmio, I started hearing clicking and bleeping noises coming from the bottom left part of the laptop. I called up the tech support, and they told me to send it to a depot. I did that, and without a second look they said Toshiba was requiring all Qosmio G15s to have their systemboards upgraded. Two weeks later, it came back. Not long after, the noise happened again. I called up Toshiba tech support again, and they said to send it back to the Depot. I did that, and told them the systemboard's already been changed. They told me that Toshiba is asking them to only send the Qosmios off to have systemboard upgraded even though I had specified my problem. Two weeks later, the laptop came back, and the noise was still there.
I called tech support a third time. This time they sent an onsite technician over. It took him 10 seconds to figure out that this was a problem with the hard drive, not the systemboard. He requested Toshiba to send me a new hard drive.
It arrived a few days after, and an onsite technician came to install it. There's a 60G and a 40G, and Toshiba had sent him a 60G. That's fine, but after this was all done, I found out that it was the 40 G that was broken.
So, I called tech support yet another time (by now it's three months after the problem first occurred) and told them to send the technician a 40 G. A week later, the technician came, and find out that Toshiba had sent him a 60 G.
I called tech support yet again, and told them about my problem. This time they sent the 40 G but the technician couldn't get the laptop to recognize it. He called Toshiba and they said I would have to send it to the Depot. They told me they'll send me a UPS box to put it in.
After the technician left, I googled the problem. Turned out that I had to just go into disk management, format the new drive, populate it, and it's working fine now. Took me 15 minutes to figure that out, and the slightly more tech savvy would've figured this out anyway.
Oh, and the UPS box never came.10 out of 11 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Having had a G25 and now a G35, I thought I would share my opinion about the 2 machines. The look, feel, size, screen, etc is pretty much the same. A couple of things I preferred on the G25 are the lights to show volume levels and touch pad on top for multimedia controls.
One big advantage on the G35 is the touchpad. Not just the quick controls, but the overall feel of it. The G25 had a scratcy surface. This one is smooth and much easier to use. The dual 80G drives are also nice allowing plenty of storage.
I keep reading about the 1 bit Audio processor on the new G35. Thats great, but how do I realize the true benefit of this? The manual provided is pretty much useless when it comes to explaining the advantages of all these inclusions.
The graphics card seems fine. When my card shows up in system info however on the G35, it says it has 512MB installed. Is this incorrect? Anyone else see this?
All in all, a great machine. Right now, the G25 can be picked up at Best Buys for $1799 while they are left. Is this one worth $600 extra? For my use, no, simply because I would not take advantage of all the high end features.
do I regret the purchase? No.9 out of 10 users found this user opinion helpful.

I had my share of laptops during the years and i love gadgets but this is the best ever.
Great gaming machine, excellent quality.
You can't go wrong with this one.
About the Price, well Dell for a similar model
is arround $300 cheaper but does not have TV Turner build in, and the maximum HDD is 100GB. Also you can buy an external TV Turner but the quality provided by Toshiba is excellent.8 out of 8 users found this user opinion helpful.

Excellent, smokes the Dell XPS
by Comicozzi on May 15, 2006
Pros: Screen has no rivals, dual raid HD is best in class. Laptop is heavy.

Summary: As a marketing director, looking for a laptop that would be a true desktop replacement. Use full Adobe CS2 Suite and as fast as most desktops (including custom built media machines). I bought this as an alternative to a Macbook Pro. Until Mac has got Rosetta figured out and Adobe product releases the CS2 (rumored CS3 release) for OS X on Intel, this laptop is my support machine.
Our IT department has been purchasing Dell XPS and toe to toe, dollar for dollar, the Qosmio is the superior machine.
Dual HD with multiple raid offerings native to install allow for phenominal performance for intensive programs like CS2. Have worked with some video using Adobe Premiere and machine is a workhorse.
The only complaint I have is overall weight. I will be ordering another one in the next week for another staff member. I bought the base package and upgraded immediately to 2 X 1GB dimms.
To get around the XP Media Edition lack of Domain / Active Directory support, there is a hack to allow machine to join a domain and still keep the XP Media Edition OS.
The connectivity applications for internet and bluetooth performs well. The only item I would change is the bluetooth support for the Toshiba bluetooth mouse connectivity however I suspect its the mouse and not the machine.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Beautiful Screen...Horrible performance.
by joebuzz22 on September 26, 2006
Pros: Great screen, great audio
Cons: Horrible video card (stay away from nvidia go 7300); Horrible load times for anything and everything; buggy and extremly heavy

Summary: I bought this laptop only after a long conversation with a Circuit City employee. The laptop was absolutely horrible. Start up time was extremely long. When I thought that it was done loading...nope... more stuff to load at start up. So I went and disabled all non-neccessary applications from starting up with windows. That didn't help.
After installing World of Warcraft, I realized I had a problem. All of the graphic settings were set to the lowest settings and I was still lagging from the horrible 7300 go video card. Horrible. Counter strike source had to be on the lowest setting to even be somewhat enjoyable.
Loading any program, even paint, took way longer than it should have. Even with the 2 g intel centrino duo and 1 gb of ram.
Overall very laggy and disturbingly expensive. I don't ever want to put my hands on one of these crap boxes again.
DON'T BUY FROM CIRCUIT CITY! They charge a 15% restocking fee for returning a product. I paid $322 for them to resell that piece of ____.Updated
I just saw that circuit city dropped the price of the notebook $700.00. Now the notebook is close to what it is worth. I would say the price should be $1400.00, but it is on sale for $1700.00 at CC. Whatever. It's still a crappy notebook.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: This laptop is simply amazing. I bought the Qosmio G35 last weekend and I can say with confidence that it is the best laptop I have ever owned. The Intel Core Duo processor is amazingly quick and multitasking is a breeze. The most amazing aspects of this laptop is the quality of the screen, the 17 inch widescreen display is gorgeous to look at and watch movies, and the audio. The speakers are phenomenal! I listen to a lot of trance and dance music and all I can say is WOW...so clear, so crisp and a pleasure to the ears. Overall I say if you shell out the required dollars to purchase this laptop then do it. You will NOT be let down with this amazing machine.

A New Media Developer's Dream
by mpact on September 16, 2006
Pros: Rock solid, Fast Processor, Raid Array option for faster development abilities when working on large processes, Runs very "cool" no overheating, Boots up fast, Pretty much "crash" proof.
Cons: Using the Windows Media Edition OS is not very usefull, Incompatible with 3rd Party DVD software, speakers are not quite up to "par" for such a Media Monster
Summary: I am a Rich Internet Application developer working all of the U.S. for numerous corporations.
That said, I really, USE my laptop for work as well as entertainment.
I ...Summary: I am a Rich Internet Application developer working all of the U.S. for numerous corporations.
That said, I really, USE my laptop for work as well as entertainment.
I work long hours and really put this laptop through some tough scenerios with having several "memory" and "processor" hog applications running simultaneously.
And it's handled it without a single "glitch" and took it like a champ.
So the "average" user should be very pleased with it's performance.
I previously owned and worked on a Toshiba Satellite S-611 problem was it was ALWAYS overheating and shuting down on me.
After reading several reviews on the Qosmio both G25 and G35 I was intrigued with the Centrino Dual Core processor as well as the ability to run a Raid Array setup to speed up my ability to work and develop on my machine.
The 17inch screen was a definate "must" since I work sometimes soley on the laptop with no external monitor.
All in all, I have been using this machine for about 6 months and on several projects nationwide, and have been VERY pleased with it's performance.
The G35 is not soley for the average laptop internet "browser" type of user, this thing is a ROCKET when used by a developer especially in New Media Application development.
I give this one two "thumbs way up".1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

i've had it home for a few days and it's great as a surfing the internet via wifi, burning some dvd's, and as a tv viewing computer.
of course it's huge for a laptop, but i just want a second computer for at home use so this is fine; and it folds up and away so my little place doesn't get congested with another machine.
i kind of know what i am doing with a windows computer, but i am a bit frustrated by being unable to delete the mcafee software. i just like symantec way more!
and i think the 2 hard drives are set up as a fast raid, but they are kind of small. i guess small hard drives are the norm for laptops though.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
