The good: Interconnected programs in Microsoft's Works Suite 2006 simplify home computing; includes updated Digital Image, Money, Encarta, and Streets and Trips; affordable; excellent technical support.
The bad: Works best if you use only other Microsoft products; includes same Word 2002 and Works 8 from last year's suite; gobbles up memory; awkward interface; no upgrade discount from 2005.
The bottom line: If you don't mind standard versions of popular programs, Microsoft Works Suite 2006 is a time-saver for basic home-computing tasks such as organizing photos, budgeting, getting travel directions, and word processing.

Slow performer, can't use previous data base files

Pros: Very low price & nice box
Cons: slower than Works 2002 & can't read 2002 data base files

Summary: I can't believr MS ever tested this version before they released it for sale. Large documents (20+ pages) take 1+ minutes to load - the Works 2002 version took about 5 seconds (same machine & OS). My database with 3200* records gives an error & doesn't load - the exact same database loads OK when I reverted back to my Works 2002 version. Does anyone use this suite who also used the 1997 & 2002 versions & has some legacy data they use or does everyone just re-enter everything from scratch? This suite is good for people who have a lot of time to waste. Productivity will decline with this version.
