Summary: Now Ubuntu is a great distro, but for the first time Linux user it will be a bit more complex. I like to think of it as a puzzle, all the pieces are given to you to make a functioning, stable, and fun OS. You just need to take those pieces and fit them together right. For example, it will give you a sound driver, but if that doesn't work you have to find a way to piece in a new sound driver or atleast and updated one.
My favorite two favorite things about Ubuntu are its repos for Apt-Get and how easy they make installing custom themes.

A great free operating system

Pros: With a little time and effort you can customize it to look gorgeous. What you get when you first use it is functional and basic. I am very happy with it. I recommend having 2 computers, that way you can still use windows while you get used to Linux.
Cons: If you have only ever used Windows, you really need to do your research before making the switch to Linux / Ubuntu. It's not complicated, just different. The main difference is the way you have to find and download Programs.

Pros: Nothing at all...
Cons: 11$? This stupid OS is free.
Incompatible with everything I have.
Not user-friendly.

actually, canonocal is doing this.....UG.
send an imcomplete user friendly Os out there.....AT least ADD IN the codecs or add in the FLuendo purchase option for dial-up users with a keycode...make it WORTH the PURCHASE.
...gives me an idea......CANONOCAL......
