The good: It's fun! Whether it's for gaming or movies, the Sony HMZ-T1 Personal 3D Viewer is one of the best 3D displays on the market, with zero crosstalk. Based on OLED technology, the headset is capable of deep, deep black levels, and whether in 2D or 3D, all images have surprising amounts of depth.
The bad: The headset is heavy and becomes quite uncomfortable with extended use. It's not possible to get the whole screen in focus at once, resulting in blurring at the edges. The effects of its lower resolution are apparent: detail levels aren't up there with an equivalently priced television, and pixel structure is visible.
The bottom line: While the Sony HMZ-T1 personal headset is capable of some of the best 3D effects I've ever seen, it's uncomfortable to wear for extended periods and images suffer from blurriness.
Pros: The biggest pro is that it is on the market now and provides quality 3D - very large simulated screen view - easy to stream content onto (even self made content) - full resolution to each eye - very immersive
Cons: The cons grossly outweigh the positives for me - headgear is heavy, obtrusive, adjustable (but not enough) and LARGE - the 3D had very little depth and only slight "pop" (in the Smurfs example I saw) - price is prohibitory - you look like a cyborg
Summary: I tried the unit at CES and spend some time afterwards talking with other people who tried it. I am in the business of 3D without glasses (content creation, conversion, ...
Summary: I tried the unit at CES and spend some time afterwards talking with other people who tried it. I am in the business of 3D without glasses (content creation, conversion, displays and the like) so i usually stay far away from the "glasses" but these had some promise for gaming. I think some people are going to love this thing but most people are going to hate it. I appreciate the small innovation and look forward to actual progression when it comes.... glasses free 3D
Summary: 1) First thing, contrary to the other user review, it is 800$, not 1500$ like he wrote. Sony sells it directly for 800$. The price on Amazon is crazy

2) If you fit the headset properly, you don't feeel it anymore. Pain and discomfort only happens if it's loose so the weight rests on your nose or forehead. There are bands that go around your head to distribute the weight and if they are snug, it's very easy to wear.
3) Image is sharp, but again, if you fit it properly. Don't forget, the screens are inches from you. Of course it will go out of focus quicker if the headset moves. 4) I watched the whole Phantom of the Opera musical on it (shy of three hours). There was no discomfort that I felt during the whole sitting.
5) Best way to watch it: on a lounge chair.
