Can be used with not a high-tech power computer
by G_BL on August 23, 2005
Pros: Intense Action, Great Graphics, Wonderful MP Settings and Gameplay
Cons: Specs are a bit too high but can be handled with a fairly new machine

Summary: I have a AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (2.4 Ghz) Machine with a Radeon X600 Pro Graphics card and the game runs without lag in mid-end settings. THe graphics is so crisp, even in mid end settings and this game rocks!!! Best MP gameplay ever and is so addicting!!! You don't need a high-end gaming pc for the game but it won't work with machines that have under 2.0 Ghz CPU and a under 128 MB Graphics card.

Awesome game! Hard to get into online play though.

Pros: Amazing game play, incredible combat sim. Excellent spread of vehicles!
Cons: Difficult at times to get into online servers. Filters do not work, still shows full servers.

Summary: Great game, love to play it for hours on end. The only 2 downfalls is that when you play single player you cannot choose the map size (you can only play the 16 player size). And getting into online servers is difficult. The server filters do not really work. They show full servers and there aren't enough ranked servers to play on so that you can build your players rank. But still an amazing game. Well worth the money!

I had a chance to play on a low end (old) comp and it was fast, not laggy, only the view distance was compromized. Still...way good
Battlefield 1942 suffered much more on the same comp.
For comparison :
The old comp was..
AMD +2500
Geforce 4 FX 5200
512 Ram
!!! i kid you not and the gameplay was excellent.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

2 year wait for massive dissapointment
by tmccandless on October 28, 2005
Pros: graphics, map and model detail. Trauma should have stayed independent, you can tell this is their work
Cons: Bulky, cumbersome, unfinished, glitchy, ranked servers, unbalanced weapons and vehicle damage

Summary: As a long-time MOH, BF42 (DCX mod) player; I was really looking forward to this game. It has been a real let-down to be honest. The game seems to be a beta released for mass-consumption. The advent of “ranking” and playing on ranked servers mitigates and destroys the whole Clan structure that made multiplayer fun. Each clan had their own server on their own pipeline and there was a real community but this destroys that by forcing you to rent a server from a “trusted” EA partner in order to offer ranking which everyone wants due to the weapons unlock etc.
In my opinion; the game is messy and EA spent more time negotiating contracts with server rental companies over the last two years than working on a great game. They incorporated the ranking into their game to force you to rent servers if you have any hope of achieving traffic on your server. Joint Op’s is still a better game. Smoother, less bulky and cumbersome and less taxing on your system. Novalogic also didn’t prostitute their game to drive people to server rental companies they have a stake in. Shame on EA; they have ruined the spirit of the multiplayer clan community.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great partial game when it works

Summary: First, I found the install EXTREMELY complicated! You have to install the 3 games separately (I got the full pak on one disk). Then you have to register each game separately, and differently! CONFUSING!
Alas! I registered the supplemental paks incorrectly, so now 2/3 of my game doesn't work. I've tried a dozen times to contact EA Games. I've never managed to get through. I always get "wrong address. Write to THIS address INSTEAD." Each address I wrote to was the one I was told to write to. IOW, they don't want to deal with a lot of customers' questions. So I have now paid FULL price for a game I only get to use 1/3 of. "NOT IMPRESSED!" I will never buy another EA GAME. Nor will I recommend them! THEN, the first half-dozen times I played the few games I'm allowed to play, it ran FINE! But the question remains, why are ALL the levels listed if I'm only "authorized" to play 1/3 of them? Makes NO sense! I keep trying to load levels, waiting the several MINTUES, and then being told I'm not authorized for that level until I PURCHASE it! I DID purchase it! But EA confused the registration so badly, I did it wrong. And the nice note on the web page says, "if you do it wrong, it can't be fixed!" ARROGANT!
Now, I'm in, and I'm playing. ONly for some reason, it keeps trashing my system. I find I have to reload ALL my drivers, and my Service Pak 2 each time I run it. This last time, I've reloaded my drivers, reloaded SErvice Pak 2 TWICE, and it still freezes on the opening screen!
I'm going to take the suggestions of other gamers and try some "alternative games." I see no reasonable reason EA Games chose to make this game so difficult to access, and so difficult to play!
My review: Not worth the CONSIDERABLE bother!
(and after owning the game several MONTHS now, I haven't been able to contact EA GAMES Y E T!! ) "Wrong Address! Try THIS one!" -

One Of The Best If Not The Best War Game For Any Time Frame
by nickelpat on July 22, 2007
Pros: Real Weapons, Modern Technology, Realistic Scenarios, Every Vehicle Is Usable, Foreign Armies Speak Respective Language, Team Based, Commander Has Power, Kits Are Very Realistic, You Go Into The Chaos
Cons: Lags On Lower End PC's, Online Takes Very Good Connection

Summary: This game is unbelievable! The first time you pick this up and experience the chaos of war, quickly commanding your troops around or even following your orders. Battlefield 2 does not put you in as the special forces perfect soldier, but as a normal soldier. Unlike the Medal Of Honor series where you have to follow your orders to pass the mission, and it doesn't really give you that feeling that your a grunt with nothing but gives you important missions. Battlefield 2 if you decide to just join a squad, you get no important missions, but simple commands such as defending or attacking a point in which your entire squad helps you with. If you take the position of Commander, you have the power to launch large artillery shells on area's of enemy troops (if you're that good) as well as request vehicle drops and supply drops. The kits or sets of weapons and tools you have at your disposal cannot be more realistic. As a sniper, you get a ghille (spell error) suit along with your sniper rifle, silenced handgun, combat knife, and some flashbangs. As for support a SAW large machine gun, handgun, combat knife, frag grenades, and ammo packs. As well as your basic firearms, each kit or class has a special item to complete it's goal and each class is built for a certain goal. Mechanics get wrenches, medics get shock paddles and first-aid bags, support gets an ammo pack, anti-tank gets the rocket launched and the sniper class get's their quiet weapons and very accurate weapons as well as the ghille suit. Stated in the PROS every Army speaks their correct language. If you are playing as the Russian Spentaz you aren't going to understand a darned thing they say (well, unless your Russian). Vehicles, usable every one of them, buggies, trucks, cars, jets, whirlybirds, tanks, troop transports, dingys, and many variations of each one! You also have access to turrets such as, normal automatic guns which is a mounted version of the support troops weapon, anti-aircraft rockets, anti-vehicle rockets and don't hesitate using every one against infantry or vehicles. Including the weapons already listed by playing online you can unlock one more primary rifle for each kit. This game is EA's best and the best war game to date (July 22nd, 2007). It's a must have FPS for any shooter fan!

- Description: The award-winning Battlefield franchise invades the high-tech frontlines of modern warfare in the new sequel, Battlefield 2. The game brings the intensity and excitement of Battlefield 1942 into the modern era with enhanced teamplay and the latest, most technologically advanced vehicles and weapons systems available to man. In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, the Chinese, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 30+ vehicles to engage in major conflicts with over 64 players in some of the largest online battles on the PC. Additionally, persistent character growth allows players to rise through the ranks and attain the ultimate rank of General. An all-new game engine and physics system brings the modern battlefield to life like never before. The new material penetration feature measures weapons' ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive. Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests, in some of the most notorious hot spots around the world. Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio and an optimized gameplay experience. Enhanced teamplay features allow players to enter the action on the frontlines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates. Soldier kits now affect vehicles that players utilize on the battlefield. For instance, the medic kit can transform a vehicle into a mobile aid station and the support kit can make helicopters into flying ammo dumps.
