Graphics are the best of any MMO or any other game
by Arco2010 on October 12, 2010
Pros: Graphics are incredible and music is outstanding. Has a good starting story line. The basic foundation for a great MMO is all there. Crafting system is really addictive. Good tools for socializing and making new friends. Can play solo if you choose.
Cons: UI interface to many menus to go threw to do what should be simple tasks. Still some minor bugs. Delays between action and excution still just a little long if .35secs is long for you. Need a really good PC to run smoothly

Summary: This is Final Fantasy if you don't like to figure stuff out on your own or want game to guide you along then this is not game for you. Most of the complaints on other forums and reviews either have been fixed or in process of being fixed. No there is no AH thank god don't need another economy ruined by groups of people called RMT controlling pricing just so they can profit offline in real money. This game is taken a lot of slack in recent weeks from either players or reviews that either don't know MMORPG or Final Fantasy. To review a game as complex as this you need more then just few hour at PC running around for proper review need to immerse yourself in it for couple weeks at minimum if not a couple months. Sure game came out and had some bug issues but none of which cannot be ironed out in the next few updates. Its too bad there are so many people out there that don't understand the nature of MMO's and what has to go into them to keep everything running smoothly. I have yet to see a single MMO past or present come out at launch that didn't have problem to fixed in months and years to come. FFXIV is no different. FFXIV is a great game and will only get better as it matures with more and more content to be added. Final thoughts yes FFXIV is a grind to level but that is what Final Fantasy is from the very first single player Final Fantasy 1 to now with Final Fantasy 14, so if you expected that to change your looking at the wrong game. Give the game time as the economy grows and takes a life of it own. Be friendly to others and you will make friends and social networks in no time. Most important have fun explore try out new things and ideas never know what adventure is just around the coner.

Something Very Special Amidst The Problems
by Fensfield32 on April 3, 2011
Pros: Absolutely beautiful graphics, characters, costumes, and environments. A highly flexible class system, including fully-realised, dedicated crafting and gathering classes. Great storyline, setting, and characters. Great voice acting. Deep character cre
Cons: 'Find out for yourself with some subtle prompting' tutorial philosophy certainly not for everyone. Combat system in some ways awkward. Understated spell animations may be very underwhelming to some. No chat bubbles, communications only in log windows.

Oh, also! Do ignore the 'Starting at' prices on the right. Most highstreet retailers stock it for around £15, and places like Amazon start at £4.19.
Final Fantasy XIV's free trial has been indefinitely extended until such time as the game has 'reached the level of enjoyability and service befitting the Final Fantasy name'. According to the new Director/Producer, Naoki Yoshida: 'we'll have reached that point once we've developed a system where we listen to the voices of the players and then communicate back what we are going to do, how we are going to do it, and a deadline for when it will be done. We're not there yet.'
The game systems and content are presently subject to large scale, ongoing development and adjustment, and may change radically in some aspects in the near future as such.
Final Fantasy XIV.. well, as the title says, it's a very, very special game, amidst all the troubles and issues have cropped up since launch. The pros and cons should cover everything, I think, however the only piece of advice I can give is while this game is wonderful in my opinion, a lot of issues remain, and most will have to decide for themselves if they will enjoy it. However, being as the game is under massive redevelopment right now, checking back now and then to see if anything you disliked or problems you found have changed or been fixed is well worth while. The final rule of thumb? Check it out when subscriptions resume, or the PS3 version is released; the producer has made it clear these will be important development milestones.

Save your money, please heed my warning.
by joyoon1984 on October 8, 2010
Pros: Good graphics, good opening movie (for Gridania - lasts about 2 minutes and you can watch that on Youtube).
Cons: The game has major issues in simple FUNCTIONALITY. The bugs, the entire game STRUCTURE needs to be redone. It's like having a hammer but the hammer is made of plastic. That's what I mean by the game not having FUNCTIONALITY.

Biggest let down and disappointment of a game EVER
by asbyo123 on October 7, 2010
Pros: um... good graphics? Thats about it
Cons: Everything was laggy -- the connection to the JAPANESE servers, the UI, everything. Crafting, lack of ah, social network ( or lack of ), god, the list goes on. Everything but the graphics was a huge huge letdown
Summary: Dont buy this game. Do not.

Everything about this game is terrible.
by JEFFMYERS1967 on October 15, 2010
Pros: Nothing I can think of
Cons: Biggest waste of 50 bucks I can think of. This game is more of a headache than anything else. Why would anyone design a game in this method and then try to sell it as playable is beyond me. Complete waste of time and money.

System Requirements do not play
by bmacrae11 on October 9, 2010
Pros: opening cutscene promising, excites you about process of much loved series
Cons: Very unfriendly interface, still can't play after 6 hours of restarts - no Square enix support. It is very much like they don;t know what they are doing
Summary: Wait for a couple months until they get it together; current support/knowledge base is dysfunctional
