This is an excellent single player sniper game.
by kingspawn39 on July 10, 2010
Pros: It's easy to install. It only takes 300mb of hard disk space. Graphics are on par with Wolfenstein:et. It works flawlessly on pentium III computer with win98 os. Tons of weapons and squad members to choose from. Realistic and challenging.
Cons: By default, the game starts in 3rd person. And, the toggle switch is kindof misplaced under camera zoom. The toggle switch is the = sign. And, it goes from 3rd person to close 3rd to 1st person. It does have a few graphical glitches, no biggee.
Summary: For the most part, you'll hide in shadows and crawl around.

Summary: For the most part, you'll hide in shadows and crawl around.I just read the manual, and I finally found out how to use the sniper rifle and those binoculars.
And, you get to use one of the finest weapons ever invented - the Browning light machine gun - the B.A.R. I actually equip each member of my team with this weapon. But, it's primarily a sniper weapon. It has some shortcomings. You can only fire it from the prone position. And, you cannot crawl with it. You have to switch to another weapon to crawl.
In addition, you should avoid group commands. For, in a stealth game, it's far more effective to individually control each member of your team.
Let's look at game play.
You'll have to select a mission and create a team. You start by selecting an eight man squad and a cache of weapons and ammo. Then, you'll select a four man team from the eight. This team will go on the selected mission. And, each individual will be equipped from the weapons and ammo cache that you already created.
With team selection, you'll see the importance of a certain skill set - marksmanship, stealth, awareness. But, you shouldn't overlook the importance of strength, for it determines how much a soldier can carry. It's a trade-off. For, the best marksmen are usually physically weaker than the average soldier. For instance, my best marksman is equipped with the browning, 200 rounds of ammo, a pistol, 60 rounds of ammo, binoculars, a knife, a camera. This is not the average. For, the average soldier can carry the browning, 250-320 rounds of ammo, the enfield sniper rifle, 130 rounds of ammo, a pistol, 48 rounds of ammo, binoculars, a knife, and a camera. An exceptionally strong fellow will have all of the above items, and he'll add the sten submachine gun and 300 rounds of ammo, too.
The first mission involves crossing the enemy controlled bridge and establishing contact with an allied force.
The team has been airdropped to a remote area, relatively close to the bridge. I togggle to 1st person view; then, I move my first player up towards the objective, hidden amongst the trees. I reach a hidden area that allows me to observe the enemy while I'm still hidden amongst the tress. I lay down in the prone position. And, I take control of the next man to bring up. I begin to move up, and I hear gunfire. I look at the icon for each member, and I notice that the shots are coming from one of my men. By the time I gather all of my team into positon, I notice that two of the enemy soldiers are already dead. One lay near the train track, and one lay halfway between the bridge and a woodpile. I switch to my handgun, and I crawl towards a nearby boulder. I attempt to move towards the woodpile undetected, so I can verify that the camp is cleared out. I see an enemy near the woodpile. He doesn't see me, so I drop him. This is the only confirmed kill I make in the entire mission. I believe I made other kills, but they were mostly patterned shooting. I didn't actually see them. I only saw their bodies later on when we took control of that territory.
I move towards the woodpile and confirm that the camp is safe. I move the rest of my team into position, behind the woodpile. Concealed behind the woodpile, we take patterned shots at the walkway that's located under the bridge. We aim at areas where we believe someone may hide. We don't waste ammo. We just take one shot at a time. Then, we move in towards the base of the bridge. I place two men on either side of the bridge. The train track is relatively active. A train comes through once every five minutes. My men begin to take patterned shots at the walkway that's located under the bridge. Then, I take control of a man and move towards the bridge entryway. To the right, there's an opening in the railing. It drops down to a platform. I usually run up to the edge; then, I turn around and step backwards over the edge. I do this because I set the options to have my men run automatically. So, it's easier to just take one step while you're moving backwards. I land on the platform; then, I move onto the walkway under the bridge. I lay down in the prone position, and I scan for any enemy activity. I switch to one of my other men, and I move the three remaining members onto the bridge. I place two men on the left side of the bridge. And, I place one man on the right side of the bridge. All of my men lay down in the prone position; in fact, we stay in the prone position until we take control of the other side of the bridge and its surrounding territory.
The men on the left side of the bridge lead the way. I switch to a sniper rifle, a handgun, or the sten before I advance. This allows me to crawl and remain relatively hidden. . Then, I switch back to my browning, and I switch to another player. We all take patterned shots at the building and surrounding area. I continue to advance in this fashion until I reach the end of the bridge. We crawl up to the house to find dead bodies. And, we walk away and complete the mission.

You activate the sniper scope by holding down the zoom button while you move the mouse forward, increasing the magnification. And, you decrease the magnification by holding down the zoom button while you move the mouse backward. The same technique will work for the binoculars.
This changes everything. I no longer need to make patterned shots. With the sniper weapon, I can actually see the guys I'm shooting at.
In addition, I would advise against selecting any soldier for your team who has less than a 65 strength rating. And, I designate a sniper as anyone who has an accuracy rating of 75 or better. For, I used a soldier with a 75 accuracy rating to make a head shot on an enemy soldier who was peering over a wooden barricade.
Now, I believe the sniper weapon is best for human use. And, the Browning is top for computer/ai use.
