Summary: This game offers an entertaining waste of time (as are all video games), rich with puzzles, lovable characters, and much more!
The story is rather simplistic, but the rich graphics, characters, and puzzles make up for it.
The game is clearly intended for younger children, but I find that the puzzles, and some of the dialogue may be just a bit complicated for younger children, and I also have to point out the presence of ghosts and walking skeletons, which takes away a bit of the childish innocence the game has at first glance.
I think the absolute best part of the game would have to be its soundtrack. NEVER have I heard a more beautiful soundtrack than this game's. I've listened to this game's music thousands of times, and each time I still find something new, particularly with the second era (night time)'s music. I think that the music alone is enough to justify buying this game.
But that isn't all. I think that, aside from the length of the game, the only thing that Ocarina of Time does better than this is that Link is able to use multiple items, while Hype is limited to his magic, his sword, his crossbow, and a pair of speed boots (which don't do much, but you have to admit that those things are pretty sweet).
One bit that slightly irks me is that you can't continue playing after you've beaten the final boss. However, even after beating the final boss, you can simply return to your previous saved game and try to beat the game 100%, which includes getting pack expansions, and collecting all the magics.
While these magics don't actually do much, the sheer entertainment of looking for all of them is reason enough to collect them all. Many of them can be found in places you would never think of looking (which can be frustrating), but that's part of the fun, isn't it?
Hunting down all the beehives and completing the racing games are also great fun, and in the end you are rewarded with speed boots, which let you run hilariously fast!
In addition, there is an aspect of mystery in this game, particularly with an unexplained wizard dressed in white who appears to be immortal, as you see him twice, and in two separate eras, in which he appears to have no age difference. You never actually find out who he is, or his importance to the story...
The bosses are well varied, with Rajoth controling fire, the three-headed dragon that dives into the ground and pops up elsewhere, Senechal who can jump huge distances and throw a massive hammer (and with a quite fustrating terrain full of holes), Mhasse who can only be defeated by knocking him off the platform, and much more!
The dialogue is well planned out, and sometimes talking to the populace can give the player hints as to what to do, from where you should go, to how you can defeat Granslak more easily.
Overall, this is one of the single most entertaining RPGs I've ever played, and I recommend it to any fan of Medieval Fantasy.
