A Must for Pilots and Enthusiasts!
by Serprah on October 11, 2009
Pros: This is bar none the best flight simulator ever. There is so many add-ons it's endless. New ones are created each day.I have been a flight simmer for over 20 years. This is the best one ever. X-Plane doesn't even compare to it.
Cons: Stock Aircraft's are not up to power, however there's thousands of free aircraft's and payware aircraft's you can buy.
Summary: This is a must. You actually feel like a pilot, and very accomplished with yourself once a flight is completed. It's an endless adventure. There's 20,000 + Airports, ...

I really don´t like this game, so full of bugs!
by disappointed2it on July 6, 2009
Pros: Has nice landscapes for all over the world
Cons: Weird size ratios ( If you land with a trike in a city, you will find that your trike i bigger than any skyscrapers and double the size of Trucks
Bug on crash against treesAereoplanes makes turns in a very unrealistic waySummary: All in all, a crap program for nowadays users. I spent alot of money on a bunch of expansions and the game, but it´s crap. The bugs above mentioned ...
Summary: All in all, a crap program for nowadays users. I spent alot of money on a bunch of expansions and the game, but it´s crap. The bugs above mentioned are really irritating, expecially the crash bug, where you crash even if you get as close as 2 meters from a little bush, with a 500-1000 kg. heavy plane at 160 km/h (VERY unrealistic, the bush gets just cut off IRL...) alot of troubles with my graphic driver wich FS can´t be blamed (fully) for, and a wrong do in the program, where if you for example land in a city you will experience your little trike being wider than a big skyscraper, and bigger than a truck (????) a weird oversized turning ability for little planes and undersized turn for bigger planes...all in all very disappointing for a game send out at the same time as other games that shows incredible graphics architecture (not talking about colors and details, more size ratio between objects and nature/buildings)..all in all a game I would have been PROUD of downloading from a pirate site instead of using all those money...

Huge, Bloated piece of Crap.
by Roadkill_321 on September 21, 2008
Pros: Had a very good advertising campaign.
Cons: Runs poorly on competent machines, takes 15GB on hard drive, crashes, etc.
Summary: Was looking forward to seeing a refined version of FS9 but was disappointed to find out that I now need to buy a CRAY just to run this program adequately.

Total con. Aces/MS are lieing
by General_Sm on December 30, 2007
Pros: None. Don't Buy
Cons: Bad performance on the best machines. totaly mis-represented by Aces

Summary: PLEASE, do not but this. Aces studios have completly mis-represented this title. It does NOTHING it claims too, and is a complete waste of time. On a machine with 3x + the minium specs, latest G-card, Quad core, 4 gig of ram, it will run like crap. flickering textures, lack of V-sync, and the list goes on and on. DONT listen to the "fanboys" at avsim, they have a vested interest in following the MS/Aces party line!.
Check out many small FS community sites, go the FSinsider.com take not of the some of actual developers names (like Phill Taylor) and be sure never to buy anything that these liers work on.
I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, AFTER 20 YEARS PLAYING MSFS, I LIKE, SO MANY OTHERS, WILL NOT BE CAUGHT AGAIN AFTER THIS RELEASE. I HAVE BEEN LIED TOO, MIS-LEAD, AND PATRONISED ENOUGH.
IT'S A DISGRACE AND AN INSULT TO AN AVERAGE PERSONS INTELIGENCE. -
Outstanding!
by shea660 on November 24, 2007

Mixed Emotions

Summary: This product is not one that can be deemed "computer friendly" whatsoever! I am certainly not saying that it is a poor simulator; on the contrary, it is very good. However, you better make sure that you have at least a mid to fair range computer, i.e 2.4 Gig CPU, 2 Gigs of RAM and a minimum 7600 GT XXX video card before you buy this. Oh, and I forgot to mention ample hard drive space! This program is a beast!!!
I "had" a standard Compaq SR1750 NX when I purchased this Sim. I have much more than that now. The only things I didn't upgrade were the motherboard and hard drive. This was just to be able to handle this thing at 20 to 24 fps at non-max settings. This upgrade was far from free and I installed everything with some knowledge of hardware.
I really enjoy the fixed wing "feeling" of this program, combined with some very superior graphics. I have a new perspective on this side of the coin, since I had originally purchased the program being a rotary-wing enthusiast. The choppers in this Sim are not even a challenge any longer. They are just too slow and automatic. I now much more enjoy the battle with the control surfaces and hovering on FS9 (currently running at 60 fps).
Ultimately, was it worth all the money and trouble? I don't know?? The jury is still out on that one. It might be if Microsoft comes out with a new Service Pack and Direct X10 patch.
If anyone is contemplating buying this product, please read these reviews and not the package literature. This is why these ratings are no more than mid-range. Most of us have had to reach into our pockets twice for this Sim: Once for the item itself; then for the system that could "basically" run it. -

I think it's just a total fail from Microsoft. I don't give a **** about animal going down i juste want to have nice flight experience.

Pure Fun for the newcomer!
by dcassat on July 12, 2007
Pros: Graphics and airports for my area, very accurate
Cons: Some occasional screen update hesitation, very minor

Summary: It's been many years since I've owned MS FS. So, I don't have the comparison that those who own FS 2004 have. This is a wonderful product. Anyone who is new to flight simulation will certainly learn and love it. Experienced flyers may have other feelings based on their experience and hardware.
To successfully run this product, you will need a newer computer. My computer, for example is a 2.4ghz duo core with 2 gig of RAM and a 256 MB video card.
The flight experience is wonderful and the free flight can be quite a kick. Just select a plane, an airport and away you go!
Final tip: You need a good joystick (force-feed, preferably) or yoke controller. This increases the fun factor significantly.
Have Fun!
