Great NBA Basketball Game
by krishenparmar on November 22, 2008
Pros: Great graphics, sound, presentation, gameplay, features, game modes
Cons: need good graphics card to fully take advantage of good graphics

Summary: NBA 2K9 on the PC is the best game ever. Before I had NBA Live 08 for the PC and I thought that it was pretty good. However, after playing this game Live 08 is average.
Update: I was playing this game with the Logitech Dual Action gamepad and I thought it was good. I just got a wireless XBOX 360 controller for Windows and it so much more fun to play.
This game has the great graphics since it is a Xbox 360 port, so it has the next-gen graphics! In addition, it has the features that the 360 version has like substituting on the fly, calling plays and team strategies. This game has pretty good commentary. The game has a realistic atmosphere. The crowd is nicely done since they cheer and react to the game.
There are many different modes. You can play a season, and playoff. Also, you can play some games like the slam dunk contest, 3pt. shootout, 21, and pickup games which are games where you can play 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, 4 on 4, or 5 on 5. You get to pick the players you want on your team.
There is even a practice mode in which you can practice the different offensive plays like pick-n-rolls. There is even a free throw practice mode--something I wish NBA Live 08 had. There are many modes, so you will never get bored.
2k did the right thing putting out this game on the pc since easports decided not to make its game on the pc.
I highly recommend this game and at $20.00, you cannot go wrong! Everyone needs a copy of this game if you are a basketball fan.

Updated on Nov 30, 2008The Shot Stick is a very fun way to shoot since it can perform many different types of shots, layups and dunks based on the direction you put the Right Analog Stick. This increases the number of shots you can perform since each direction has a different move. In NBA Live, you can either press the shoot button or dunk/layup button and it will make a certain type of shot at random. With a shot stick, you have more control over the type of shot you would like. -
Worst installation process I've ever seen
by Dpscc on November 22, 2008
Pros: Not sure, as I still have to be able to install the game...
Cons: In order to prevent piracy, manufacturer has made installation so confusing that I just gave up, and am returning game (if possible) unplayed

Although fairly cheap in price, the game is so confusing to install and full of so many problems that I simply gave up trying to install or play it.
First of all, despite the DVD included, you still need to download about 9Gb of software from the Internet (yes, 9Gb). I have high speed, and it took me more than an hour! I expected that, buying a DVD from a store, the software would be in it, but apparently, you only buy fluff, as the actual program has to be downloaded almost entirely.
And, since mine crashed midway, I had to do it twice.
Once downloaded, I tried actually installing it. It asked for an activation code - which, by the way, is not included anywhere in the original box or DVD!
The manufacturer is aware of it, and says they have fixed the problem, but did not. They're walkthru to fix it does not work at all. And, some of the steps, by the way, involve deleting all you just did and downloaded, with disregard for how long it'll take you do so.
After almost 5 hours of trying to play this game, and after reading most of the comments on the official forum on the manufacturer's web site, I have simply given up trying to run this game. I'll return it to the story (if I can now, since it's opened), and most probably buy NBA Live '09 instead. I'd suggest you do the same.
One last remark: reading the official forum - hosted by the manufacturer itself - everyone was complaining that e-mails to customer service were never answered and, aside from the one or two official remarks from the manufacturer, they had absolutely no technical support whatsoever.
I wish I could comment on how great the gameplay or quality are but, alas, can't get that far. My recommendation: stay away if you're playing it on a PC.
