Summary: This game is horrible. Will not run on any of my computers. Tech support is horrendous. This game will not load onto my 2 desktops running Windows XP. So I decided to use it on my brand new entertainment laptop (running Vista) it loads and starts but then overwhelms the graphics card, this makes the screen blink and the game to run very slow. The card on this computer is 3 times more powerful than what the company says is needed to run this game. I downloaded some updates from EA’s website it worked for a half-hour until I stopped. When I went to start it again it would not work. I wrote e-mail to EA support and they never wrote me back. When I called EA I went through about 20 prompts until I reached some person I couldn’t understand and did nothing at all to solve the problem. For the 30 minutes I played the game it was great, but it is hardly worth the money for all the frustration it gave me.

Summary: I installed SimCity Societies with the hope of hours of enjoyment. My system qualified to run the program based on the wrapper. The installation went smoothly, I rebooted and launched the software - NADA. After an hour of searching Electronic Art's completely worthless technical support site for information on the specific error messages I was receiving, I tried some of the old basics - apply all patches, upgrade all drivers on my system that were slightly (1-3 months) out of date, etc. NADA. Then I sent in my DirectX diagnostics by the site and got some suggestions - ok, the program runs. I place the first item down in my city - CRASH. Search site for error message, no hits, back to e-mail. Turn off all other applications - heck, I disconnected my computer from the network and killed anti-virus and firewall - CRASH. Back to the DirectX diagnostics - mailed to EA again. Hopefully one day I'll find a way to get the game to play - but I doubt I'll buy an EA Game again.

This game can be everything, but NOT a SimCity game.
by Diogo Cysne on June 27, 2008
Pros: It's good to create cute buildings.
Cons: There is no challenge! You are not a mayor anymore, but a simple architect!
Summary: I will consider the "SimCity" series only until the brilliant SimCity 4, but this "SC Societies" is nothing less than an advanced cities' drawing program. The incridible lack of creativity ...

Good for what it is.

Pros: This game is great for what it is meant to be.
Cons: Horrible to run, minimum specs given are a JOKE.

Summary: If you just want a fun game, this is it. If you don't want to worry about if everything has power and water, this is the game to get. I really liked the game, you just can't compare it to the SimCity games, which is probably why it's called SimSOCIETIES... You're not building a city, you're building a society. Very good graphics, very creative themes, i enjoyed it. I will agree with the other reviews about being hard to run. I have a pretty beefy machine w/2GB RAM, 512MB video card, and it was having troubles. It would run fine, but pretty hitchy and slow, which does make it frustrating. I'd definitely reommend having a BA machine if you want to run this. The min. specs...I'd really have to see a computer with those specs run this game, they're a joke.

Summary: I don't know why I always end up reading reviews for things after I already purchase them. I could definitely have saved myself from a few days of waiting for the game to get good if I read these reviews first. I completely agree with all the other reviews. The game is both pointless and poorly written. It crashed my new top of the top of the line workstation many times. Luckily the 'blue screen' errors it crashed with were just as entertaining as the game itself so they never really frustrated me. No real need for me to get into any details of its problems and inadequacies. Just don't buy the game.

Worst SimCity Ever

Summary: Don't waste your money on this garbage. They've ruined SimCity with this release. They've taken the ultimate micro-management exercise, and turned it into this fluffy lame "Sims" style game. "Spirituality" points? Really? There was no religion in the real SimCity. It was about creating supply and demand, and balancing all of the many aspects of running a city. I had really high hopes for this game, but it doesn't live up to the SimCity name. I hope Maxis writes the next version, because these new developers don't know what SimCity is about.

Just Bad!!

Summary: I’ve been a simcity follower ever since the original and loved every upgrade they have done until now. Simply, if you loved simcity for years do not “upgrade” to this want-a-be. Stick to simcity 4 deluxe for excellent game play. I even tried forcing myself to play it for a couple days and every hour I played, the more I wanted to play simcity 4 again. Oh yea, and on top of the horrible game play, I have two 8800 GTS video cards and when the cities started to get big the graphics would lag so bad I could not play.

Good for 1997, not for 2007

Summary: I have loved all the past SimCity games. I especially like Sim City 4 with the Rush Hour expansion pack, so I was all excited when I saw the new Sim City Societies movies on EA's website. I pre-ordered and just got mine last week.
I am already bored with it. This was the biggest waste of $49.99.
The game does not look or fel like a Sim City game. The graphics are not as good as Sim City4. This game actually reminds me a little bit of the PC version of Monopoly which I was amused with for all of about 2 game plays.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE.
