Pros: Sorry, but at this time I cannot find anything I am liking about SC2. I still play SC Broodwars and love it with the exception of the hackers and the bots that imho have ruined it
Cons: Sound and Visuals are too busy. the performance is poor. too complicated to use. not enough basic simple features.
Summary: I love Starcraft/Broodwars. I still play it. Unless it gets worse with the cheaters, I will continue to play it. Let me begin by saying I have a top ...
Summary: I love Starcraft/Broodwars. I still play it. Unless it gets worse with the cheaters, I will continue to play it. Let me begin by saying I have a top of the line biggest baddest Apple desktop 8 gazillion core Power Rah Rah Rah they make and yet with that said, I cannot run SC2 at it's highest settings, not even its medium settings without getting "change your settings messages as your performance is locking up or something to that effect." If you want to enjoy what I figure is probably the only feature I'm excited about and will not use because of it's lame privacy settings, the real id chat, the only way you can do that is to give everyone on the friend's list of anyone you allow to see your real id personal profile access to all of your friends ad infinitum. Why would I want to give EVERYONE access to ALL of my friends? And why would this not be an optional setting? Visually overstimulating: I played one multiplayer game today and I can hardly focus after quitting the game. everything seems to have tracers and be hazy blurry hard to describe. The game play while "looking cool," is overstimulating, it's like watching a fireworks display, so busy in fact it's hard to follow what's going on. Same thing with the audio. something might sound cool but there's so much of it it blurs into obnoxious white noise. I didn't notice how bad it was until I quit and was like omg I could tell how much it affected my sight and peace of mind, I was amazed. The performance is glitchy, twitchy and slow. And to hopefully explain exactly what I mean by this game is a ripoff imho, I will speak to PS2/3 game Socom. I like person to person skill competitions what the original sc is a chess match. I love to win like the next guy but my greatest joy is in the battle. If it was tough and hard or the guy is better skilled I really don't mind. (and yes I don't like getting killed 15 times in a row if the guy is that much better, I'm not a nutter) But from Socom 2 on, the game was reduced to "MGM MEGA BETTER VISION Cecil B Dethrill Greatest Graphics EVER Malarchy" and by that I mean every improvement for the most part pulled gameplay from person to person interaction tennis and chess combined type fun to gimmicks that rob you from being able to have that sort of interaction. The latest socom and cod for example brilliant yet you very rarely get to have a one on one interaction with anyone anymore. I can give u tons of reasons, only a few concepts listed here: unequal power rations perks and what not u have to earn. heartbeat sensors, fuzzy shadows and places to hide. it has reduced peeps to camping and ambush killing. Maybe once in 50 kills if you are lucky do you get to know the basic area someone is in and get your sneaky on with both of you aware of each other getting to play cat and mouse. You never see sniper no crossing or paintball games anymore. On the remake of many of the old maps it's so shadowy someone can be standing up 5 feet in front of you and you are hardpressed to see them. Yet they are touted as the "best" in graphics. simply stunning etc. These are some of the same concepts in SC2 that suck. It's so visually stunning , it's too visually stunning. They change attack commands and whatnot just for the sake of it. AND IT DOESN'T WORK! I bought Warcraft and it never worked on my then top of the line mac. and all the same money grubbing greed u read about. Starcraft Broodwar is near perfect with the exception of hackers bots and limited friend's list. It would still be the game to beat, I would still play melee on it if it weren't for the cheaters. Here's a perfect blizzard example. You can only have 20 or so peeps on your friend list [not enough if youre not following me], but they allow unlimited spam bots that flood you with spam and cheaters and hacks so that you can't find an honest game. But yet they care so much about that now, they set it up so that they can access everyone you know and everyone they know. What's up with that? and yes from the limited time i've had I think there are some game action features that are improved and will add to strategy but unfortunately not by me as I will stick with broodwar. simply unbelievable in this day and age and 12 years this is all you get, smoke and mirrors? Save your money! I promise you would get more enjoyment throwing dollar bills out somewhere and watching people find them or donating to a charity.
