The good: Impressive sound for the money; stylish design; very strong bass; good connectivity options; desktop controller for power, volume, bass, and treble.
The bad: The speaker cables--which can't be extended because they use proprietary connections--are a little on the short side, so you lose some flexibility on where to place the speakers.
The bottom line: The Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 PC speaker system is a superior combination of design and performance available at a fairly affordable price.

Summary: If u want PURE and Ballanced sound go for it..though not gud for bass heads!!...those who enjoy sound quality and perfection over bass go for this one...others can opt for the z2300..Except for the bass (tht too at very loud volumes it gets a bit disorted...otherwise the bass is really good) i cant find a flaw. The design is catchy and killer.

Great sound, cool design, neat desktop controller
by otosurgeon on April 12, 2011
Pros: The sound does have some good bass. Nothing that's gonna rip your clothes, but good for computer speakers. Music is crisp and loud; but not overpowering, like some car with 4 subs in it and twice as many amps.
Cons: The desktop dial is kinda swank, but it does not offer the fluid, *quick* control that a basic knob affords...my old speakers had a nickel-sized dial that you could very rapidly change the volume of the system..this looks cooler, but not as quck.
Summary: For the money, well worth it. I would recommend these to a friend. Make sure you have room for the sub...put it as close to the corner of a ...
Summary: For the money, well worth it. I would recommend these to a friend. Make sure you have room for the sub...put it as close to the corner of a room for maximum effect and sound. I am using this system at a computer desk at home, so the amount of cable provided is more than enough for me, but I can see you'd have problems if you wanted to put each speaker in a different corner of a room, or behind/beside your chair/couch with the subwoofer elsewhere...prolly not enough cable to reach that far...but for a basic desk setup, it's perfect. Oh, and I expected just a little bit more bass given all the attention that gets in the reviews I have read. for it's size, however, you have to admit it does push out some respectable bass. Worth the money.

Below average 2.1 speakers, at such elevated price.
by mic19x on October 18, 2011
Pros: Great looking speakers and adds beauty to desktop station.
Flat band response, all frequencies are amplified and clear.
Controller has AUX which is handy for iPod.
No hissing sound at all.Cons: 1. No punch in the bass, don't know where 200W goes.
2. If iPod Touch (2nd gen.) is used, even with max volume in both speakers and ipod, volume high is not satisfactory. Feels some preamp. is missing.
3. wires are too short.
4. Controller has 7 LEDs forSummary: Disappointing low frequency <20Hz response and no punch in bass.
Not worth spending for such speakers in this price. 200W is more devoted to tweeters and mid freq. speakers ...Summary: Disappointing low frequency <20Hz response and no punch in bass.
Not worth spending for such speakers in this price. 200W is more devoted to tweeters and mid freq. speakers rather than Woofers. Too sonorous at high volumes and not soothing (read noise).
I connected my iPod and slowly increased the volume to MAX to get a reasonable listening volume along with wrong/nonlinear volume control made me feel its a faulty speaker but I saw same with other 3 speaker in store.
Increasing the base from music player control give a really bad taste of clipped/saturated bass.

Superb quality, you miss nothing.
by alwaysramu on October 11, 2011
Pros: Elegant design,
Excellent quality sound,
Deep bass but don't kick your ***Cons: The sub woofer is not large....... It's very large.
It's just like desktop CPU .
Wired remote.......
I'm getting some hissing sound only when I connect speakers to my iPad 2. -
NO HISSING SOUND IS THERE AT ALL
by grandgalaz on September 20, 2011
Pros: (1) Large sub woofer, punchy bass which doesn't distort.
(2) Superb High Mid and Low. Crispy crystal clear sound.
(3) Wired Volume+Bass+Treble controller having auxiliary input. It looks too sexy :)
(4) Modern look.Cons: Nothing found so far. Few are saying about the little short size speaker cables. But with 2.1 speaker set you are not going to reproduce any surround sound and thus there is least chance to place those 2 speakers at very far. Its well enough to place them
Summary: I am using this since last 2 weeks and all I can say is WOW..... Its a damn good speaker set in its class.
You must have gone through about ...Summary: I am using this since last 2 weeks and all I can say is WOW..... Its a damn good speaker set in its class.
You must have gone through about the acquisition that Altec Lansing MX6021 creates a continuous hissing sound in its tweeter. If you are in dilemma then please read the fact I experienced myself.
Before buying anything I always do a research on the available targeted products and I did the same in this case also. After all those research my focus got onto two products. (1) Altec Lansing MX6021 and (2) Logitech Z623.
Logitech Z623 is THX certified and it seems pretty well apart from the fact that it doesn't have any tweeter, which surely is a draw back. My concern was punchy bass with crispy crystal clear sound which is not at all possible without tweeters. Altec Lansing MX6021 has neodymium tweeters on its speakers, I am feeling their existence in every bit of music and also feeling what could be the worst experience if they were not there.
I went through so many reviews, forums etc. where I found a few people have said that they are getting a continuous hissing sound coming out from its tweeters. But, BEING UNBIASED AND BEING COMPLETELY HONEST I CAN TELL YOU MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THAT I HAVE NOT FELT ANY SUCH ANNOYING HISSING SOUND COMING OUT OF MY SET UP TILL DATE. I don't know why a few people are saying they are having this problem, But god swear, I did not face anything like that neither at low volume, nor at high volume. Even I checked and re checked if it is there when I am not playing any music but the speakers are ON......but nope... still no hissing sound is there.
I was bit scared while buying this set. I was thinking ohh god, what if there will be any hissing sound coming out... But now its 2 weeks.. and no hissing sound I found.
Just go for it.. you wont be disappointed. Its just awesome. -
Perfect All-In-One Sound!
by do_gooder on May 15, 2011
Pros: 1. Awesome modern design.
2. Easy to use wired controller allows me to adjust the treble and bass to my likings.
3. Extremely loud satellites with tweeters unlike other systems where all the power goes to the subwoofer and are stuck with only mid-range drCons: 1. Continuous hissing no matter at what volume and operational status.
2. Subwoofer distorts at very high volume.
3. Volume knob has to be turned slowly in order to change volume levels.Summary: I've owned this product for 5 months. It's main competitor for me was the Logitech Z623, but non of the speakers in Logitech's line contain tweeters (probably). ...
Summary: I've owned this product for 5 months. It's main competitor for me was the Logitech Z623, but non of the speakers in Logitech's line contain tweeters (probably). Their speakers are always missing a little brightness to me so I went with the Expressionist Ultra. When using these speakers for music they sound freaking incredible! The only down sides are that the subwoofer distorts once you start to hit that last LED on the knob to reach maximum volume, but my sweet spot is two levels below that so that doesn't bother me. The main irritation is that their is always this hissing. It's not at a solid volume, it's always as loud as the volume you set the speakers at. When listening to music, it's like it doesn't even exist, but when watching TV shows on my TV where everything isn't blasting with rhythm 24/7, it's as if every scene on the show is windy -.- . For the price this system sells for , you can't beat the sound quality and performance. Everything that's too good to be true has to come with it's own minor flaws.

Fantastic! These speakers sound phenomenal!!
by blown262 on March 5, 2011
Pros: Great sound reproduction, great bass response at normal to upper levels, look sexy, and it has a really nifty control module that looks like a flying saucer.
Cons: Not a lot of room to move these around, the speaker wires are only about 6 feet long and it can be a bit of a pain trying to get everything in the right place.

Summary: By far the best computer speakers I have ever bought. I upgraded from the Klipsch and the sound quality is mind blowing. I can here every little pick of the guitar strings in music. But these bad boys really shine in games like Call of Duty. I can exactly where everyone is and the explosions are pretty intense. If you want great quality and super high volumes, this system delivers both very, very well
