The Bose Comanion 3 is a rockin' package that makes me turn up the volume more and more.
by Gear Snipe on October 31, 2006
Pros: Crazy good sound, small package for the punch, neat volume control/touch-mute
Cons: Little speakers don't stand up/difficult to place neatly on your desk. (The newer Series II speakers come with stands.) Bass gain adjustment is on the back of the sub.

Summary: The sound from the Companion 3 is AWESOME. When I'm having a party, I just turn these up and it fills my whole place with sound. The "control pod" that has the volume control on it also has a second input and headphone jack. The input is cool, it let's you connect a second source to the speakers without having to fuss with disconnecting anything first. Seriously, the sound quality is unreal from such small speakers.
I really don't like the fact that the bass gain adjustment is on the back of the sub, this makes it very difficult to adjust the bass once you've found a slick, out-of-way place for the sub. Also, the design of the speakers makes it hard to neatly place them on your desk (there's no stand). The newer Companion 3 Series II has stands!
These are totally worth the price! As the saying goes: "you get what you pay for!" -
Unbeatable Performance at its Size!
by Benji69 on September 26, 2006
Pros: Ultra compact, very musical and powerful.
Cons: A bit pricey for some people

Summary: I had long wanted to buy myself this pc speaker system and I finally made the purchase when the Bose Dealer in my country lowered the price a bit in anticipation of the arrival of the new Bose Companion 3 series II.
Basically the size and sound quality of this system attracted me. Some pc speaker systems may sound as good as the system or even better but that accounts for the larger footprint. At this size, however, other pc speaker brands will never rival Bose sound. The design and ease of use of the system are other attractive features of the system but these two don't count if the sound quality is mediocre and the equipment bulky. With Companion 3, Bose has succeeded at all these levels.
The system performs at its best with music in stereo mode. However, DVD movies and games also sound terrific but far from the all-new Companion 5. I listened to a demo of the latter product and I was blown away!
I highly recommend Bose Companion 3 Series I and the new Series II to people who love good sound but not bulky equipment. No other speaker manufacturer can give you both options in a package. Enjoy!!! -
Not Worth The Money

Summary: If you really want to here ever string hit by a guitar, or every key pressed from a piano than this is for you. The sound is very very clear, that is it. The bass doesnt fit well. Lets say you have a stereo tape player thats from the 80's. And you buy an bass froma different company, and hook it up, it just doesnt fit. The bass seems to out there, im not saying its really powerful, or really weak, it just doesnt go well.
If you are very particular in your music, and want crisp sound, buy this. I personally want to watch a movie and the sound blows me away, or play music and really rock out with it. Therefore I will lean towards the Logitech Z-2300.
But then again, if you hook these things up to your computer, you should know that your sound card plays a big role, you may need to upgrade! -
Great set-up for AirTunes!
by edgedesign on July 27, 2006
Pros: Solid sound, nice design, small footprint
Cons: Price ($25 to $50 drop would make it more attractive)
Summary: It's a typical Bose product... good design, solid workmanship, quality material & great sound.
Mac users... this is a nice solution for streaming music wirelessly via an Airport Express ...Summary: It's a typical Bose product... good design, solid workmanship, quality material & great sound.

exactly what i wanted
by thatchman1 on March 2, 2006
Pros: small desktop speakers, astoundingly low bass, great control
Cons: can't lower volume to "almost off"

Summary: I replaced a Creative Itrigue system from a couple years ago with this system. Unreal difference. Crystal clear highs without sounding rhaspy, super low bass. It will go pretty darn loud, but also sounds spectacular at very low volumes.
I have an 8 speaker Bose system in my car and rate it "so so" , so for me to rate this highly means I really like it. I'm not a "Bose-head" but this is one great system.
I don't use my PC for gaming or home theater-- those are in the living room. This is for MUSIC.
The volume controller is ingenious compared to the Itrige controller. This thing is like a disc, weighted, and a non slide surface on the bottom. Much more logical and useful than small scrollers I had on the Itrigue. HOWEVER you can't control the sub level from the controller, which I did like for quick turn down on late night music.
But far and away a much better system! I'm elated. Acoustic music, Busta Rhymes new track with super low bass, it does it all. -
Thanks to other user opinions, I did not even bother with the other competitors to these speakers.

Pros: As others have noted, this is a wonderful system to reporduce music. I listen to streamed radio.
Cons: Can't think of any except for relatively high price (you get what you pay for applies here).
Summary: Excellent bass and mid-range quality is what does it. Gamester-only types can probably save big by purchasing other systems lacking the depth of these speakers.

Simply The Best Multimedia Speaker System On The Market
by importuner on December 19, 2005
Pros: Small powerful speakers with crystal clear sound you won't find in any other speakerS that are double in size. Nice deep subwoofer bass with no audio interference. Easy access audio control device.
Cons: I would have liked these small powerful speaker to have come with wall mounting brackets, but I guess that would be asking for to much. Subwoofer a little longer than other models.
Summary: Overall this multimedia speakers system is by far the best on the market especially when considering the price. The one touch mute button is a very nice option along with ...
Summary: Overall this multimedia speakers system is by far the best on the market especially when considering the price. The one touch mute button is a very nice option along with easy access audio device inputs. You also cannot forget the fact that it's BOSE. Simply the best in audio performance (car, home, pc, mobile device, etc.). You need to hear it to believe it. Don't go for the large speakers that take up space and look ugly on your desktop or any other place. Let alone the fact that no other speaker will give you the sound quality that these Bose speakers will. I strongly believe there is no better speaker company than Bose.
