Summary: I wanted a 2.0 system to upgrade the speakers that came with my PC. After auditioning several systems (some over twice the price!), I selected the T10's based on price, size & build quality.

While they sounded adequate in the store I was completely unprepared for what I heard when I hooked them up at home. The bass from these small two-ways is impressive! It belies their size & it's accurate without bloat. The midrange is accurate & highs are crisp.

The speakers also cast a credible soundstage. Not an easy feat at this price level. The only caveat is that it doesn't cast it very far. What the speakers do really well is music. They are paticularly adept a handling acoustic music such as jazz.

Speaker build is solid. The power/volume & tone knobs are of a nice size & operate smoothly. The tone control is useful in adding presence & air to vocals & cymbals when used judiciously. Other really nice amentities are the lack of an AC adapter. The attached power cord plugs directly into an outlet. Connectivity is also very simple & they sound great straight out of the box. They sound even better once warmed up & I'd advise leaving them powered up all the time for best sound.

If your primary purpose is for music playback you'll be hardpressed to find better speakers at the $50 price level. They may not be the best choice if you want to listen to explosions & car crashes though. With only 5 watts per channel their dynamic range is going to be limited & they're really not designed to fill up a room with sound. Movies, while dialogue & sounds are rendered acurately, just don't reach the dynamic peaks that some blockbusters require.

You can't have everything at this price range but the T10's just might be, "the best bang for the buck".

Summary: I grabbed these off the shelf as a simple speaker to have on my desk without the mess of wires that a 2.1 or more speaker systems have. They were on sale for $39CDN at a local store. When I took them out of the box I was amazed at how heavy they were and how well built and nicely finished they were for the price. For a bedroom or small office they will fill it nicely with nice, crisp sound. They do lack a huge amount of power for bassy music, but that's not what most people are buying them for. Vocals actually sound fantastic for a small speaker and the treble is crisp but not over powering.

Summary: The best part of these speakers is the tweeters. They sound quite detailed, allowing me to hear sounds that I didn't notice before. The lows are also quite satisfying. Bear in mind, these speakers are sub $50 and the woofers are only 3". Do not expect earth shattering sound, but do expect something around 55-20,000hz. You'll be able to hear most of the sounds from music and movie quite well.

The mids are a little bit boomy and muddy. I wish they were boosted more like on my Bose Companion 3's. This enhances the movie experience, but this is just me. I think this is the weakest part of the system.

Bass is surprisingly good. I found myself looking up and being surprised that so much bass could come out of speakers so small. It sounds cliche but it's true. Bear in mind, I'm the previous owner of a Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 system so I've already been there done that as far as tiny speakers with big sound go and this one impresses me! (for the price I paid).

I love the way the speakers look on my desktop. They have a glossy piano black finish which looks very sleek and contemporary.

I wish there was a screen covering the bass port located on the top of the speakers to prevent things from falling inside. The volume control knob is large and easy to turn. Both this knob and the tone control have detents which stop around the 12:00 mark so you know you are at the mid-way point.

The right speaker is connected to the left via an RCA type jack. If you want to extend the length of the speaker wire you'll need the appropriate extender.

This would make a decent upgrade for a TV which has cheap built-in sound. For $50 this is a very good speaker system, but do not expect to get sound quality that will rival 2.1 systems.
