Summary: I bought this system about 6 years ago. Recently I started having a problem with it and decided to buy a Bose Companion 3 system to replace it. BIG mistake. The Bose system sounded like crap next to the Klipsch. I took the Bose system back to the store the next day. I talked to Klipsch's tech support and they arranged to have a small, inexpensive repair part sent out. I hope this thing lasts forever. ITS GREAT!

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 vs Logitech Z-2300

Summary: Logitech Z-2300 and Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 are the best 2.1 systems for computers out there. I recently tested the two side by side and found Logitech has a small edge overall with the dynamic lows as its winning point. Z-2300 also beats ProMedia in design with only one wire coming to each satellite (its competitor having three or four to the control console attached to one satellite.) This being said, ProMedia also has its distinctiveness over its Logitech counterpart.
CNET, my favorite review site, gives Z-2300 a wowing 9 star while throwing ProMedia a meager 7.9. I dispute this and believe a difference of 0.5 star might be more appropriate. Compared to Logitech, Klipsch is slightly better in mids and highs. ProMedia sounds a little bit more "open" and crispy. In design, the ProMeida is wall-mountable though with the optional brackets and its aesthetic limitations (see my review on Klipsch ProMedia 2.1). Both systems looks a little cheesy, but the ProMedia looks a little bit more "pro" with its "component black" color than its counterpart which unfortunately uses a silver tone over-emphasizing its plastic nature and bulkiness of the subwoofer.
In conclusion, both speakers are very good (if not too good) for MP3s and choosing which one to buy is more of personal tastes than substance in sound quality. Since Logitech is 20 or some dollars cheaper, my decision may slightly leans towards Logitech...1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Fantastic computer speakers

Pros: Sound and build quality, price (for what you get)

Summary: I love these babies. They sound so nice, I am thinking of getting rid of my home stereo (Cerwin Vega 715s and Yamaha 2 way 100 receiver). I own a laptop and after purchasing a Creative Audigy 2 PCI sound card, they make the speakers sound exceptional. I have other Klipsch products for my home theater systems, so I decided to try these in my office. I was not disappointed...hey, even my wife likes them!

Perfect 2.1 system

Summary: I just got these speakers a couple weeks ago and they've been great! My roommate has the Logitec 2300 which are pretty good sounding too but these Klipsch 2.1 easily surpass it in mid and highs. The magnets for the speakers in the Klipsch system are much heavier than the logitec and overall this system seems to have more power. Great for Games and Music.
One thing to definitely have for these speakers is at least a decent sound card. I'm running mine off a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 and they sound amazing.
Definitely worth the $135 I spent on these!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great pair of speakers, used at Best Buy

Summary: I work at a best buy and this computer is hooked up to our subscription of napster along with many other computers. Once all the customers have left the store somebody usually goes over to the Klipsh 2.1 and blast music, which fills up the entire store, yes entire store and is loud yet retains its clarity, the sub at that volume can go haywire though.

Even after all these years, still the standard by which all other 2.1 systems are measured.

Summary: It's amazing that even after all these years, these speakers still set the standard for it's class. They put out some serious volume, but always at a high level of sound quality. The satellites and the subwoofer are very well balanced. No clipping... no boominess, no degradation unless you push them to their max sound level using a poor sound source. Like all other high end music componenets, you will need to break these in for a couple of days or so. And I very highly recommend replacing the speaker wires that these come with, using a high quality guage speaker set, (you can either purchase the Monster Cables or make your own and save some money), to really bring in the mids and highs. But once the cones and coils in these babies settle in and relax, no other speaker system in their category comes close... You will find yourself using these at your computer more than you will the ones hooked up to your living room stereo system.

I like 'em

Summary: I bought these at retail after deciding to pay a little more for more dynamic range, I was not disappointed. I was originally looking at the Creative labs 2.1 and the Altec Lansing 2.1. While the Creative Labs unit has good mids they lack in the high end. The Altecs have good low end and highs but lack any type of midrange. I didn't feel like paying $250 for the Bose Companion 3's so I thought I would settle for the Klipsch set up. Klipsch after all is a high end loudspeaker company and I fell they got it right this time too. While the Bose set up has super clean low end and
good dynamic range I didn't think they justified the price. So there you have it, Klipsch...good sound, fair price, 'nuff said.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I heard these speakers and had to have them. After some tweaking to my Media Players (WMP and iTunes), they came out sounding like a true gem. Out of all the 2.1 setups I have heard, I think that they sound the best across all genres of music. A bit pricey (I paid $150), but I find them well worth it.

Power, Performance, Quality, Fidelity...
Pros: These speakers are incredible. Don't be fooled by the size of the actual speakers on the satellites, they have quite a long throw. Bass is deep and rich, along with the rest of the sound spectrum it delivers. Definitely worth the $150-$200. I never really
Cons: The sub has a bit of harmonic distortion, and you need a good sound card to take advantage of the quality
