Wicked.... Best for the money period.
by jmsbro on April 19, 2012
Pros: Outstanding.
Accurate sound reproduction

Summary: I am an audio nut. These speakers are world class. I have had fabulous audio equipment in the past, and these speakers still stand out. Tight bass, clear crisp mid range and highs, and loud? Ask my neighbors down the street! I hear nuances in the music that I've missed with other speakers. THX indeed! I also watch movies and play some games from time to time. Wicked. Listening to these is as much fun as you can have sitting down... I compared these to the Bose offerings, not to mention just about every other 2.1 set out there, No comparison. others are very good, but cant beat the accurate sound reproduction of these Kipsch. It's hard top believe they are computer speakers.
Do yourself a favor and buy these. Even better go and listen to the competition, and you decide. The price is right, and the sound.... Wicked... -
Klipsh Peomedia 2.1's are the best hands down!
by #1Mac on March 26, 2012
Pros: Powerful, acurate, image well and are effortless well into concert hall volume levels.
Cons: None unless you just insist on ripping the wired connections out of the system. Even then their is a $10.00 fix for that.

Harmon Soundsticks = Ugly... underpowered Jellyfish woofer?...28W Subwoofer!!! get outta here! For those who listen to elevator music at a whisper and want less connectivity than a clock radio
Logitec Z623 Competes with slightly less precise sound - the Z523 and down = Muddy average "computer speaker" sound but they can play that way very loudly and there are a lot of previous boombox owners who like that (Have been suckered into owning 3 logetec 2.1 systems and have been equally disappointed by all of them, eventually you just get tired of listening to the distortion or sometimes with luck they will and do thankfully die early in life)
Altec Lansing = They have the sonic quality and precision but are amp challenged when compared head to head they simply run out of gas. At the prices charged I don't know why??? (coming from the old Altec groupie that I am.../was)
Bose = OMG! Sticker shock!...plus Bose has been consistent in producing colored, kind of remixed, attenuated sound for years that just isn't the original work... (except to a Bose owner). The new 2.1's lose the bass race which is like saying Wisconsin is losing the cheese race because they have always had booming artificially bassy speakers. Go figure?.. then go get a second mortgage to buy an overpriced pair of Bose... Its the name your buying not the sound... isn't it? Yeah, confess... it is the status isn't it? With status and a two dollars you can get a cup of coffee... (You see I know I am one of those closet Bose owners... mine literally are in the closet and they stay there!) -
Astounding quality for the price tag
by deliciousvinyl on October 8, 2011
Pros: Stellar highs, mids with impressive bass. Attractive, THX certified, surprisingly powerful and a well constructed unit all together.
Cons: Needs to be carefully burned/broken in out of the box. Thin, delicate satellite wires.

Summary: I went through/tested a few units in the same price range before I stumbled upon these monsters. To put it bluntly I was (and still am) blown away with the sound quality and power these well crafted speakers put out. I'm a blatant audiophile and very, very picky when it comes to sound and although the KRK Rokits are in a different league, (and as I use both for producing music), they've complimented my studio with high end performance that you only hear in equipment that is twice the price.
Update.. It's been just a little while since I reviewed this product (with 5 stars) and although I stand behind most of my high praise towards this system, I felt compelled to come back and point out a significant problem. As CNET mentioned in it's cons, the system produces some distortion and rumbling during the playback of music, particularly MP3 files. Considering the stellar clarity of it's satellites, it's a shame that after some time now, I'm finding it more difficult to listen to music comfortably. It's almost as though the sub in itself was built for gaming and film exclusively. Even at the lowest of levels it's overpowering and and is hard on the ears when listening to the bulk of my MP3 files. A shame indeed. So much that I'll be returning it if customer service cannot help me rectify the issue. So to all those thinking of purchasing this otherwise wonderful system with the intent of enjoying music, I highly recommend looking elsewhere.
I highly recommend a gradual burn in of the Klipsch 2.1's as the sound has become progressively better with increased, careful usage. The reviews online truly don't do these wonderful speakers justice.

Outstanding PC Speakers!

Summary: The speakers, subwoofer, cords (everything) are all very high quality and not cheap or flimsy. The framed cloth covers, on the speakers themselves, can come off if you wish to remove them. But I prefer to have them on, since it does not affect the sound and it protects the speakers from getting damaged. The subwoofer volume can be adjusted be a little louder, quieter or off (on the control speaker). The subwoofer never overwhelms the main volume but always compliments it (even at the subwoofers highest setting). This speaker system has a very high volume range. I only turn the main volume up to about 20 degrees out of the full 240. Not only is this near the limit of what most would feel comfortable listening to but you can feel the subwoofer as well (if you turn up the subwoofer to its recommended setting) which is about 45 degrees out of 240. It comes with more than enough rubber feet to stick to the bottom of your speakers and subwoofer to prevent scratching the floor and desk. The cords are set in length, but are more than long enough to set up for a computer desk. I ordered these six days ago and they just arrived today. And I am pleased to say they are not going back. I would not hesitate buying them again or recommending to a friend. Another product that truly brings this speaker system to shine at its full potential is a program called "SRS HD Audio Lab" from SRSLabs.com for only $30. The software digitally restores all sound that is coming from your computer in real time, so whether you are watching movies, listening to music or playing video games, you will get the optimal sound quality for your computer system. After I tried it, I bought it and now I leave it on all the time. The difference is very noticeable regardless of what kind of speaker system you have.
Update: After using these speakers I had the left speaker connector stop working on the back of the subwoofer. I knew it was not the speaker that was causing the problem because I hooked them both up to the right speaker connector on the sub and they both worked. Then when only one speaker was working I decided to try to see what would happen if I plugged in my ipod into the control speaker (which has the main volume and subwoofer volume control on it. This speaker also has a headphone jack and a 3.5mm audio auxiliary line in port on it.) So when I plugged in my ipod into the 3.5mm audio auxiliary line in port, on the speaker, Eureka! Both speakers and subwoofer were working! So now I always have my speakers hooked up to the back of my computer using a "3.5mm Stereo Jack Plug to 3.5mm Stereo Jack Plug" cord to the 3.5mm audio auxiliary line in port on the main control speaker. Works perfectly and have not had any problems since.

Nice for The Price
by Chutobac on April 21, 2011
Pros: More than just a computer speaker set, can be used for scanners, Short Wave Radios, MP3 players, and other Music storage devices, etc ..., Great Bass, mid and high range sound. Price is cheaper than listed on CNET. Saw them listed at $149 yesterday.
Cons: Can be overloaded, blew mine up after 10 years when I unplugged my earbuds and the volume was maxed on my computer. My fault, not the speakers. Sub Woofer/amp runs hot, could used a cooling fan.
Summary: I owned this set for ten years and I used them for everything, at weddings, cookouts, etc...

Not sure what the editors did wrong with the bass...
by jackjack1385 on February 25, 2011
Pros: Awesome low volume sound. Room shaking high volume. Clear highs and lows and actually there mids...
Cons: No power off\on, cords from sub to control speaker not as long as the signal wire from the sub to the control speaker.

Summary: I bought these speakers to go with my sony walkman. I did all the research I could and decided that for big sound it would either have to be the klipsch or the sony speakers. I got the klipsch at my local best buy store for 149 dollars and I love them. I had trouble with the bass at first but, I found that by lowering the bass output of the player I could bring the distortion under control and still get the bass very clearly. Bass boost is totally not necessary with this set up and if fact ruins the sound quality. Having found that out I would suggest to anyone who is thinking about these speakers to just lower the bass boost on their player.
The only other complaint I have is that I use the speakers as a media extra and do not have them attached to a computer or t.v. Not having a power switch is kinda a pain to me. Other than that, these are the most perfect speakers I have ever owned. They even beat my harman kardon soundsticks II. -
Great for the average person. Amazing sound quality.
Pros: - Amazing "bump" to your music and video games.
- Look cool to have.

Summary: I first tested these when I was playing Half Life 2 Episode 2 on the Xbox 360. The bass effects and synth sounds effects of the weapons really came to life and made me feel immersed in the game. Now as a person who is not an audio expert, these sound great and they really weren't that expensive. If you are looking to listen to music with some decent speakers or play your video games with some "BOOM" to them, I suggest these. I also tested these speakers while listening to Deadmau5 (House music, which means LOTS of bass) and they sounded amazing. The only problem with the sub woofer comes when you put the volume on it too loud. Overall, amazing speakers to have when you're playing music, video games, and movies.

Good, clean, crisp sound. And loud as you need.
by zackymcharvest on January 21, 2011
Pros: Great mix of bass, treble, and mid range. Bass is clean (for the most part) and loud. Surprisingly strong mid range for the driver size.
Cons: I don't buy speakers based on looks but some do, and they aren't the best looking things out right now. Also the bass keeps having to be adjusted based on what I am listening to. (not really an inconvenience, just has to be done)

Summary: I'm way into sound and I wont even buy some CDs if I know the recording quality isnt up to my standards. But these speakers sound great. For my laptop station Ive been just using the Logitech X-230s and these BLOW THOSE OUT OF THE WATER. its insane the difference. I never got another pair of 2.1s because I didnt think that desktop speakers could sound this good. I also have the Audioengine 5s, nothing really compares to those, but I am still in awe of how pretty good these sound when comparing. I can tell you how many reviews I have read to find the right speakers, but I am glad I bought these. If you get them You will be happy, there is no way that you couldn't be. But one thing to add, they arent the most...rich sounding. More of a cool sound, I personally like this but for the people out there looking for warm sounding speakers, these arent for you.

Summary: I had owned a pair of Bose Companion II speakers but was dissatisfied with the amount of bass, seeing that I listened to a lot of hip-hop and house music. My journey for a new, 2.1 speaker system was on. After looking through many systems, including Logitechs and Altec Lansings, I came across these Klipsh Promedia. Although they were priced slightly above its competition, it was getting rave reviews. They looked very simple and unassuming compared to the Logitechs or the ALs. However, they won me over and I ordered them. Once I got them, I excitedly set them up and put on some songs with high bass. I was immediately overwhelmed by the sheer power of these 2 speakers and the subwoofer. After a week, I was fully in love with these, and to this day, did not have a single feeling of regret for buying these. If you need powerful, high quality, and overall amazing speakers, get these. The extra money is worth it.

I would not consider myself an audiophile. And thats why perhaps this multimedia system took me by surprise. I installed a car stereo head unit, 6 speakers, 2 amplifiers and a subwoofer because of the redifintion to sound quality these speakers brought. I purchased JBL studio monitors before this purchase. I read numerous reviews before purchasing this 2.1 system, good and bad alike. This system isn't expected to be powered on 24/7, the amplifier gets warm, as 200 watts should (2 x35w Sat/130Sub). No regrets and highly recommended
