Summary: Logitech Z-2300 and Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 are the best 2.1 systems for computers out there. I recently tested the two side by side and found Logitech has a small edge overall with the dynamic lows as its winning point. Z-2300 also beats ProMedia in design with only one wire coming to each satellite (its competitor having three or four to the control console attached to one satellite.) This being said, ProMedia also has its distinctiveness over its Logitech counterpart.

CNET, my favorite review site, gives Z-2300 a wowing 9 star while throwing ProMedia a meager 7.9. I dispute this and believe a difference of 0.5 star might be more appropriate. Compared to Logitech, Klipsch is slightly better in mids and highs. ProMedia sounds a little bit more "open" and crispy. In design, the ProMeida is wall-mountable though with the optional brackets and its aesthetic limitations (see my review on Klipsch ProMedia 2.1). Both systems looks a little cheesy, but the ProMedia looks a little bit more "pro" with its "component black" color than its counterpart which unfortunately uses a silver tone over-emphasizing its plastic nature and bulkiness of the subwoofer.

In conclusion, both speakers are very good (if not too good) for MP3s and choosing which one to buy is more of personal tastes than substance in sound quality. Since Logitech is 20 or some dollars cheaper, my decision may slightly leans towards Logitech...

Summary: Excellent speakers! Don't look back or check any reviews. I expected what I got, and got what I expected! I own $2k Klipsch home speakers and these $150 don't tarnish the family name.

I played about 60 songs to test it, from jazz to rock, to bass, country, etc. WOW! Only 2 songs did I here a hint of bass cabinet resonance, but I am using a stock Gateway motherboard-incorporated soundcard.

Movie sound is as good as it gets for 2.1.

Bottom line is the long throw woofer can deliver bass down to 35 HZ, clean and crisp, exactly like audiophiles of any generation love to here or feel it.

On the first few songs and genre, I had to turn the subwoofer control down for acurate report. But on bass songs, I turned it up! You will think you are next to that anoying car at the stop light.

Perfect 10 for Klipsch!

Summary: Klipsch Promedia 2.1 have been on the market now for nearly 4 years and they continue to surpass most of the 2.1 speakers on the market today. Being the first computer-based speaker system to be certified by THX, they have a clear response in high and mid sounds. There is great bass as well, especially at 130 watts, but can come across as muffled depending on the sound. Movies and games are great with these speakers, and with a new low er price, they are great buy -even today with the newer systems on the market.

Summary: Greatest set of computer speakers I have ever purchased. Wonderful THX certified speakers produce very realistic sound with very little distortion. The only downsides would be no remote control and mainly being the distortion the sub produces. But otherwise a product I would recommend to anyone interested in purchasing quality high-end multimedia speakers.

Summary: After the preamp input cord started losing its connection with the subwoofer almost 2 years to the day after I bought them (which is, conveniently, the end of the warranty period), I took them back to the place I purchased them, per the instructions of the Klipsch website. At the store, they said that they don't service warrantied products, and that I would have to contact Klipsch. Well, it turns out that if you don't have a receipt, you might as well not have the speakers, because Klipsch will do nothing, even if you have the box and serial number. It wasn't enough that the speakers crapped out on me after almost 2 years, the customer service people just didn't care. I never played my speakers that loud, and I always took good care of them. If you are looking into buying a good set of speakers for your PC, go with Altec Lansing. They sound just as good and they will actually last. Stay away from Klipsch, they are bad news.

Summary: I have burned through a lot of speakers over the past several years, but the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system is about as good as you can expect from PC audio. Being more of a fan of high-end home audio (Vandersteen, Krell, Wilson and others) I was amazed at how well these little puppies did in voicing music and powering games. Right now, I have two sets rigged on separate computers, one with an Audigy 4 Pro sound card, and the other with an Audigy 2 ZS. The sound is engagingly distinctive, voicing even the smallest characteristic nuances of each card -- which is a very positive thing for any speaker system to accomplish. Although the Logitech Z-2200 system sounds a tad bit smoother right off the shelf, they don't hold up nearly as well as the ProMedia 2.1s after extensive burn-in.

Summary: Right off the bat, I've bought the 4.1 setup which is just like this 2.1, only that you get 2 more satelites for the rear. These speakers mated to a Creative Labs Audigy mp3+ sound card for sound processing.I've had this product going on 3 months now and these speakers are a budget hero's cream of the crop. The best speakers according to the tons of reviews I read before making my decision. Simply put, there is nothing this side of the mississippi or this side of the western hemisphere that can mess with these speakers, plain and simple, cut and dry. They stomp anything in it's price range, big time!. I've fed these speakers everything from Metallica to Toño Rosario and it just spits it back out like a baby. I mean, this speakers sound off like they got a pair. Play a little Counter-Strike with the volume @ 3/4% and the sub @ 33% and you're there man, sluggin it out in the front lines until the cops kick in your door trying to stop the military conflict you got going on @ home. The end result is a feeling that you finally purchased a high quality computer hardware at a great price(at least for me), I still can't get over the fact that I got em for $189 at that time. For that price, nobody makes mids highs and lows sound better. I broke them in, administering no more than 50% volume for a couple of days so the speakers get a chance to warm up before finding out what the hype was about.The control volumes have to be kept below the 3/4 mark for strategic reasons...if you don't want to rumble the walls and make the building or neighborhood nuckle heads think you have some expensive studio equipment they gotta go check out for themselves when nobody's home. My advise is if you're researching computer speakers to buy, don't waste any more time reading any more reviews and get either the 2.1 set up or the 4.1, to have a music band readily available at home to play what you want to hear. Now, go get 'em tiger!

Summary: After doing a lot of research into what would be the best 2.1 system for my computer, and having seen so much high praise of this product, I got these speakers for my birthday in May, to be used in college 4 months later. after testing them to make sure they worked (and they worked great) I packed them up, never to be used until I had moved into my room the next year. Unfortunately they started making a crackling noise whenever I played them, especially with the lows. I immediately called the company I bought them from, shipped them back, and several weeks later received replacements. These speakers worked great until about four months later, when I began to experience the same crackling noise with the lows. Again, I returned the speakers and received replacements. I am now on my third set of speakers, which I have had for a couple of months. Unfortunately, they have, yet again, starting making the scratching sound when the lows play. For all the praise that this product receives, I could not be less happy with it. Yes, it sounds great when it works, but it is overly liable to break down and leave you without speakers for several weeks at a time. I would recommend going with a different set up in any situation.
