Summary: A great product with a great price. I read most of the customer reviews before purchasing it, and the recurring message was that the speakers were a bit soft, but the sound balance was good.
With regards to its volume, I have had no problems so far. I can only think of 2 occasions when it was too soft, but in those 2 occasions, I was watching streamed videos. However, I have had no problems with other streamed videos. Apart from that, the volume has been very good. To get a higher volume, I would just turn up the volume on my laptop. I rarely need to max out the volume settings on both my laptop and speakers. If I did, it would be too loud. In fact, I've never maxed them out, because it's already too loud before i can get there. Even when using it in the living room with a bunch of friends, volume has never been an issue apart from those 2 occasions.
Re sound balance, it has been proven to be true. Bass is never too loud, nor is the treble. They never overpower each other. Even at high volumes, the sound never gets distorted. It's just clean sound coming out of the speakers. All of my friends who have used my speakers say that they're amazing.
Being an experienced musician, I am very picky about the quality of sound that I get from listening to my music. And I hate sounds that are not balanced or too quiet. And I don't use the word "hate" generously. So I must say that I have been extremely satisfied with the speakers.
By the way, I love the design of the speakers.
Overall, the speakers have provided me a richer and more fulfilling experience when listening to music and watching movies. And with its price, this is truly a bargain.

Underwhelming, Mediocre-at-Best Speaker Set
by bghjkl on January 10, 2010

Summary: The subwoofer is, I'm sure, the whole reason most purchased this speaker set. What you get in the box is two run-of-the-mill speakers and one bulky, lousy speaker that looks like a subwoofer. It isn't a subwoofer. It produces NO bass, even with the 'bass' turned all the way up. When you unplug the speakers, and only can hear the "subwoofer" then you just hear a low, rattly, distorted-sounding version of the song you should be hearing. Every single subwoofer I have ONLY plays low sounds, and when turned all the way up, makes them LOUD. This 'subwoofer' plays all the sounds, and just distorts them to SOUND like they're low. I returned this piece of junk and got another set for the same price that included a real sub, and much better speakers.

Don't be sucked in by the bargain price!
by OzTom94 on January 21, 2009
Pros: Easy to set up and use, convenient controls, headphone output.
Cons: Poor bass, sound quality not good enough for movies and games.

Summary: The Logitech LS21s were a bargain at $45 (Australian), and my past experience of Logitech products has been generally positive. However, upon firing up the system with a few iTunes tracks, I needed to turn the 32Hz and 64Hz EQs up high to get some decent sound out of the speakers. The sub is small and compact, but at 3W, don't expect ground-shaking bass. It totally lacks the power needed for a crunching explosion in Call Of Duty 4, nor can it produce much thump in movies. Think of the LS21s as only slightly better than TV speakers. Overall, a disappointing product from Logitech.

Bose has nothing to worry about.
by Zanny_Blowzsteve on March 3, 2013
Pros: Stylish looking, Compact. Wired volume control a big plus!
Cons: Kind of limp in the bass / subwoofer department.

Also servicable as an office/desktop speaker system in tandem w/ my Zune HD. Loud enough, without ever getting loud enough to annoy others. OK fidelity, but they certainly won't have anybody at Bose worrying about lost sales.
For the $20 or so I paid, any shortcomings can be overlooked. -
Average Speakers.
by deegrin on April 23, 2011
Pros: The speakers look very beautiful and stylish. The volume control is a useful component.
Cons: The subwoofer isn't too powerful (you have to max it right off the bat), but it does the job.

Great for the price...

Pros: Speakers are great for the price, I got them at Office Depot for $15 on sale.
I really like the way they look.
They are good for voices and watching movies and things of that nature.Cons: Horrible lows...and bass notes.
Bass sounds muffled unless you're watching a movie.
Definitely not primary speakers.

Summary: If you get them for $20 or under then you got yourself a deal. I see that they retail for about $30...definitely not worth that unless you're in dire needed of speakers and you want a little bass. I have them hooked up to my 42" tv right now, have Logitech X-540 surround sound in my room and these do not compare.

Cheap but under powered not even worth the $20 + Tax
by edtastic on November 2, 2010
Pros: Sound quality is not awful. It makes sound, and it somewhat resembles the original recording if you don't miss the complete absence of base.
Cons: Sound Quality is not good. Sub woofer incredibly weak. Satellite speakers have the sound output laptop. Can't even fill a small room, wouldn't be able to play over the sound of a shower in the bathroom. The low output is inexcusable.
Summary: I don't know what cheap bastard decided to put these on the market. It's something that probably cost $4 to make and gets sold for $30. I brought ...
Summary: I don't know what cheap bastard decided to put these on the market. It's something that probably cost $4 to make and gets sold for $30. I brought them because the were on sale for $20 in Office Max but to be honest I think I over paid. Not until I came across the review here did I realize they were only 1.5W speakers. I was wondering why I had to use them at max volume all the time and even that could overcome the presence of background noise. The sub woofer is a joke it barely covers the midrange frequencies. Any company with a strong desire to protect their reputation wouldn't put garbage like this out on the market. It's not worth buying, except for PC maker that wants to add a free set of speakers for systems they sell. It has no business being an after market product, especially with a respectable brand attached to it.

Perfect for the Price
by Boris_72 on May 28, 2010
Pros: Perfect for general computer use, enough bass to add to your songs but not ruin them, good clarity
Cons: Wires are too short and requires a specific set-up to fit (can be fixed with an extension), wired remote a little clunky

Summary: There are a lot of reviews that say these speakers are terrible and not worth the money, but I say this isn't true. I bought my LS21s for AUD$35 (approx US$28), and wasn't really expecting much, I bought them spur of the moment because my old ones died suddenly and I was in need of some sort of sound the next day.
What I bought as a means of escape, I am going to stick with from now until I can get something else worthwhile, as these definitely are. There are people saying, don't by these, go by XXXX, they produce much better sound. This is completely true, but what if you only use your computer for the odd song, video on the net and maybe just to hear the clapping when you finish your card game from time to time? These are absolutely perfect, put up side by side with others twice the price, I see little difference.
It is correct that this is not true bass, and it's not the deepest and the best. But what you get is bass that will give you that satisfying little kick without waking the neighbours up. It's enough to shake your desk a little but not your brain. Perfect for those non-serious gamer freaks sitting in front of the computer all day (describing myself a little there :D).
If you want brilliant, perfect sound, go out and buy something literally 100 times the price. Then hook it up to your home cinema, don't waste it on your computer unless you are a serious gamer or can't afford a TV (in which case, why are you buying a sound system?). If you want something that will give you sound that won't disappoint you, but then again won't please the true sound lovers out there, this is perfect.
You have to remember to stack these up against its rivals, which it easily blows away. Great job by Logitech to put out a speaker set of this quality in this price range. -
Good Price Good Quality
by hello12034 on December 29, 2009
Pros: I like the wired remote the finish of the speakers and the size of sub.
Cons: Not much really might struggle with more complex kinds of things such as gaming

Summary: What other reviews you've read ignore them and just listen to me for one minute. If you are looking for cinematic sound go and spend £400+ on set of speakers that are not comparable to these. These are a good set of speakers for £20 they have a nice deep base and basickly for the price you could not go wrong. So dont go and compare them to £400 speakers because thats not what they are.

by FluffyPawz on December 29, 2009
Pros: Cheap 2.1 Multimedia Speakers for Anything that has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Looks Decent to.
Cons: Bad Squeaky sound, the sub rattles/ distorts easy, when i took mine home i had to return it because one speaker would not work due to a faulty cable!!!! i personally feel tv speakers are better!
