Very good bass, but I didn't like the speakers.

Pros: The Bass is not only power but quality as well, bass is not large at all, smooth volume control, no bright lights, whole system is indeed loud.
Cons: Stereo speakers sound like your in a can or or in the next room, cables are hard-wired, the system is just a tad overpriced in my opinion.

Summary: This system proves the fact the if you decide to buy speakers, even if you hear a 100 good opinions, its all the same if you personally don't like it. I decided to upgrade from my Creative T20 Gigaworks which, are 2.0 and have almost no bass, but cost almost as much as the Z523s. The Z523 look good and are not spacious. To be honest I was expecting a decrease in sound quality, but not as much.
On the good side you have an excellent bass unit, that is not that bulky at all. If you have a large desk you can even fit it there. It shoots the bass waves downwards which is a good feature since you have an easy time placing it and it results in some thrilling explosions. One thing I didn't like on my old T20 speakers was the ridiculously bright LED light. The Z523s LED is very subtle on the right speaker and it is cleverly placed so when you turn the volume up or down it shows how high it is. The rear speaker feature I have not mush use for and I'm not sure weather it provides more good or bad.
On the other hand the first time I heard the stereo speakers I was shocked. Like I mentioned above, I was prepared for a decrease in sound quality, but they sound like my neighbor is watching a movie, not me. Lets get it clear, that when you are listening to music, the Z523 sound alright. Especially if its house, industrial or metal. If you play jazz, softer rock, classical or pop, it sounds a bit blurred, but its still OK. But when I decided to watch a movie or play a game, they just sounded way too muffled and blurred. Some of the sounds I am used to hearing are not even audible. There are many parts of movies that all you can hear is just the bass roar and maybe a voice hear and there. The speakers sound like they are either in the next room or in the laundry machine. The other problem I had with these is the hardwired cables and the fact that instead of both speakers being powered by the bass, the source goes in the right speaker. This results in more cables and harder (although not so hard) install.
There are people that love how the system sounds, but it didn't do for me. I don't know if it was for the lack of tweeters, the rear speaker gimmick or something else, but half the sounds you should hear are either to blurry or not there at all. When I turned back to my old Creative T20 Gigaworks I dreaded the fact that it has almost no bass, but everything else sounded extremely clear and warm. It is still an alright system for most mediocre users, but I'm giving it a 2 star rating because of the price. You can get yourself a 2.1 system with the same or even more power for a lot less and you can get a entry 5.1 system for the same money. Also the Z523 is just a couple of steps in the terms of price from the upper class of speakers.

Teriffic sound, great bass, easy to handle

Pros: volume control within reach, bass adjustable, fair price
Cons: needs a small pedestal to accompany my screen on same height

Good for Gaming and Music.

Pros: Good bass for music and games, especially first person shooters, plenty of strong explosions etc.
Great volume control
Good Looking and very tidy with Velcro wire wraps which come in handy!
Cons: Took a while to break them in, slightly tinny in the mid range.

Summary: Got these for $100 Australian and I wasn't even planning on buying speakers, they just blew me away. Great bass, good mid for the price and very loud in medium sized rooms. Not sure about the 360 degree speakers but mine are up against the wall so I haven't really tested them. Took 10 seconds to unwrap and set up; and after they were broken in, sounded amazing for music from rap to metal. Easily the best that I saw in their price range.

Simply amazing

Pros: Clean, LOUDDDD, and reasonably priced. Also they dont take up much space.

Pros: -looks attractive
-easy to setup
-nice options
Cons: -SOUNDS TERRIBLE. overwhelming bass, muddy bass. sat speakers are dead sounding, void of any substance of sound.
