Most accomplished 2/2.1 speakers in the market
by okonson on May 2, 2006
Pros: Superbly built. Bass is smooth and composed. Even at 2/2.1 games still sound detailed and exciting. Produces floor-breaking power with minimum or no distortion
Cons: Need a good sound card and a bit of fiddling with equaliser to get the best out
Summary: I have read so much nonsense from so called audiophiles about these speakers. I decided I should write my own review.

I'm not an audiophile and I won't like to be one. For audiophiles sound begin with midtones and ends with midtones. Bass is uncool and tweeters are a nuisance. I find this interpretation of good sound totally unacceptable. For me it either sounds great or it doesn't. The Z2300 sound great.
I was rather taken aback by the size of the sub when i unpacked these speakers. When the sound came out i started to realise why Logitech had produced such a massive subwoofer. The bass is simply amazing. High or low volume, no problem. It is smooth througout.
the build quality and design is not only high but intelligent. It makes cleaning and looking after these speakers relatively easy.
I presently use Creative Audigy Extreme X-Fi sound card. For a set of speakers that was made to perform well in everything including gaming, video and music, I cannot understand why anyone should be surprised that you have to change equaliser setting to obtain the best in certain listening mode
So the debate rages on: digital sounding vs analog sounding; completeness vs Clarity, bass and tweeters vs midtones ; does it sound great or does it sound clear. Beware! sometimes and quite often clarity is achieved by suppressing tweeters and bass. This is kids play. The z2300 keeps everything in. this is why I would not hesitate in giving it a 9/10.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I like Logitech products but these speakers are the pits at any price. Sound quality when playing a music CD or an Internet radio station is extremely poor. I thought I got a defective product and returned it for a refund. A couple of months later, I bought them again from another vendor and these were just as bad and returned that set also. I don't understand why they get such good reviews. These are the worse sounding speakers in my 25 years of buying PC speakers, but I did love the wired remote. Must just be my ears, I guess.

Way Over Rated

Summary: From previous reviews, ff you're still not sure if this Logitech Z2300 is over rated, listen to the Mirage Omnistats CNET thinks is also great and you will be convinced that CNET has no clue on what quality sound is about. Both of these hi rated by CNET speakers require only a few seconds of CD quality music pumped thru them to know they are not even close to audiophile level. The Omnistats are much more expensive though and sound even worse. I have added Cambridge Soundworks satellite speakers to my Logitech Z-2300 and the sound has become quite acceptable. So at least for the money the sub and amp are still worth considering, especially if you have some decent speakers around to use for satellites instead of the nasally Logitech satellites. Logitech needs to add laser interferometry to their wish list for Christmas which will bring that speaker science to them to learn where their speakers are misbehaving. You only need speakers with an SPL of 88-92 or so to work with the subwoofer, their satellites aren't that efficient either. The sub also only sounds decent when equalized where you must especially tone down the 60 hz and some 120 as well to correct the default heavy sound so
the system needs much tweeking but for the money it can still be a good deal for those who understand its limitations.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Don't buy - waste of money - Awful sound - awful
by snakepliskin4 on January 15, 2009
Pros: Less than $120
Cons: Terrible sound. Two small speakers that sound all tinny and a very big woofer that sounds like a ghetto mobile driving down the street with excess vibration. There is no mid-range sound and the woofer and speakers dont match up.
Summary: I've been listening to five songs and I now have a headache so I turned off the speakers altogether. The Altec I had before was much better - too ...
Summary: I've been listening to five songs and I now have a headache so I turned off the speakers altogether. The Altec I had before was much better - too bad I short circuited them by plugging into the microphone hole. This logitech system is so bad that I'm going to have to return them to amazon and pay another $30 shipping. I wish I could just live with them but they are horrible. I'm pissed at the editor for writing his review of these speakers. He is clearly not an experienced music listener because these things really are awful. There must be a deal between cnet and logitech.

desktop speakers to enhance audio playback from PC
Pros: affordable
Cons: The setup installation booklet reveals the specfications on this product. The satellites together put out 80 watts RMS into 8 ohm loads at 1 KHz at 10% total harmonic distortion. The subwoofer puts out 120Watts RMS into 8 ohms at 100 Hz also at 10% THD.

Pros: Low price almost always good
Cons: Sound quality cannot possibly be as stated
Summary: Haven't heard these speakers but I have a really hard time believing any $100 speaker system can be spectacular.

Summary: Man I sold my amplifier and my speakersystem. The i read thid review from the 3 other guys and that made me purchased this set. It is perfect what you get. I also want to say something about the review that gave a six: A set of 10 metres of wires will cost you about 9 euro's so that ain't the problem. What about the midsounds? They are just fine and if you not happy with it: Almost every player on a computer has an equalizer. SO BUY THIS SET! Sound just fine
