Treyarch knows how to satisfy most COD players
by AVM1986 on March 6, 2012
Pros: + atmosphere rich.
+ Wager Matches.
+ Standard but great Single-Player.
+ A.i. Bot mode (training)
+ Theater
+ Zombie modeCons: - Mediocre graphics.
- Host ended or connection interrupted.
- A lot of angry MW players ruin the fun from time to time.
- A lot of knifing because the game supports that function.
- Some weapons are terrible.Summary: The Single-Player and Online MP is a dime a dozen experience, but it keeps you entertained because of it's variety.

There's a lot to do, it's takes a long time if you want to finish it all.
Treyarch combined world at war with modern warfare 2 so they can satisfy Modern Warfare (MW)and WW2 COD fans.
I'm a WW2 COD fan and Treyarch is better in atmosphere and story than Infinity Ward.
United Offensive, COD2 and World At War are my favorites in the COD serie.
Do not like the modern warfare serie but i like Black Ops from time to time.
I have the pc and ps3 version of Black Ops and prefer the ps3 version because it's less crowded.
Pc version has too many people at the same time, but the pc graphics are so much better.
Had to buy a hd-ready plasma tv with 1080p overscan function so i can play this game with reasonable graphics. -
The best Call of Duty Game in the series!
by costindb on January 4, 2012
Pros: Great story mode! Excellent Multiplayer mode and game play. Fixed many problems of MW2 multiplayer. Added a great variety of maps and game modes.
Gun Game
Nuketown
ZOMBIES!
Enough said...Cons: Terrible graphics: looks very fake and at times sounds fake.
Summary: I have really enjoyed this game. One of the best multiplayers around, one of the best and most entertaining games I own. However, this is all if you can get ...
Summary: I have really enjoyed this game. One of the best multiplayers around, one of the best and most entertaining games I own. However, this is all if you can get past the terrible graphics. They are quite bad considering how advanced war games have gotten.
Graphics aside, from the perspective of game play it is probably one of the most refined first person shooter games out there.
I especially loved it because it fixed so many of the multiplayer issues MW2 had: noob tubes (grenade launcher splash damage), bullets going around corners, deadly bouncing care packages, camping (being able to stay in one spot and kill enemies), quick scoping snipers (sniping without looking through the rifle), hacking issues, dropped games, lagging, bad respawn locations (reviving in front of or near enemies), and long distance melee kills. -
Good to start, after while gets boring.

MIND NUMBINGLY AWFUL (A Hardcore Gamer's Review)
by SuperToasty on May 23, 2011
Pros: GameStop Is Kind enough to give me a refund.
Cons: HORRIBLE (I mean seriously just terrible) multiplayer, tedious Zombies, a campaign that's more movie than game, horrible fanbase/community, pointless DLC.
Summary: Let me start by saying that I am a hardcore gamer. Okay?
MW2 Sucked. This sucks worse.

MW2 Sucked. This sucks worse.
Let's start with the campaign. 80% of it consists of cutscenes. The other 20%? Tedious trudges involving endless clearing of rooms, infinitely respawning enemies, and, in the case of one mission, vague instructions. The story is decent, but as said before, is bogged down by frequent cutscenes and a confusing ending/reveal (without any spoilers, let's just say that somehow someone who is dead can fire weapons and touch the living, despite being dead and being part of someone's hallucination. What? Exactly.)
On to the multiplayer. IT SUCKS. I cannot fully explain the absolute crap that is Black Ops multiplayer. During your online experience, you will encounter only 4 things:
a) Campers.
b)Maniacs with shotguns running around and insta-killing everyone.
c)Trolls who kill you in second chance and get revived, stealing the points you would have earned.
d)Noobs on your team that cost you the match.
Zombies is tedious and has no variation. END REVIEW. -
It fun and awesome
by darklordtrom on March 20, 2011
Pros: Campaign,weapons,zombies,online gameplay, guns
Cons: The stages in Modern Warfare 2 were slighltly better than black ops
Summary: The game is fun to play and awesome. But, if your concentrated more on the stages, go with Modern Warfare 2

Fun to play, both alone and online
by 1UM_Fan on February 4, 2011
Pros: The flow of the game was pretty good. The single player campaign was pretty good. Liked that fact that it lasted longer than a few hours to complete. The multi-player game is plenty of fun, both for game veterans and new comers. Zombie mode is great
Cons: Not a lot of things to say bad about the game. If anything at all, the flash backs seemed to run a little long sometimes.
Summary: Great game. I love playing it in all modes. This is a must have for anybody that loves fist person shooter games.

Better than Modern Warfare 2 but not that much better
by Rob021683 on November 29, 2010
Pros: They brought back zombies. Campaign was original in that it included the Cold War. The on-line kill streaks are cool too.
Cons: It's just more of the same. It's not radically different enough from Modern Warfare 2. Even the on-line gaming isn't that much better. The weapons are mostly the same along with the kill streaks.
Zombies get old fast too.Summary: If you have Modern Warfare 2 you have little to gain from buying Black Ops. It's worth renting (twice).

But all in all it's just not enough. It'll be all too familiar and the game has just gotten old to me and I've had it for less than a month. In fact I'm wondering if I can get a refund.
If you have Modern Warfare 2 , rent Black Ops before buying it. It's better but not by much. -
Great if familiar to the online play.
by JC417 on November 29, 2010
Pros: i like the fact that 'combat training' is quicker to load from session to session and is fair to all level of players. There are some cool cheats
Cons: Too many interuptions with the online play (disconnects), when a game loads if one person leaves that lobby/game the intermission starts all over again. Respawning is insconsistant. Not fun getting killed 30 times/gm. you HAVE to be good.

Summary: The games' OK, like i said, online play, you must be quick to respond to an enemy or sianara. So when your learning and trying to gain those credits to build up your arsenal of weapons, it makes for a frustrating time. That is why in 'combat training' there are levels from 'recruit' to 'veteran' therefore helping to bring more oppurtunity for a level playing field. Why there are some problems with interuptions/disconnects I don't know, it's the only game I own that does it. The different scenes and places of battle are cool, the points/credits theme is new, and gives alot of diversity to create your 'player card' to your personal character. I like the game a bit more than I'm frustrated with it, because I don't always have the time to play, so it's hard to become as good as others online. So overall, if your thinking of buying the game to play now and then, than get it and explore the online play, the campaign itself is too simple and not engaging, killing zombie's is always fun, .....hint, try to get out of the chair before selecting any mode, there is a computer you can use to type in some cheats.

Another movie masquerading as a game
by kenmil01 on November 10, 2010
Pros: I can get a refund from the store that I bought it from
Cons: Way too many movie clips and way too much talk
Too easy
Too disjointed
Did I mention too many movie clips ?Summary: This game is a major disappointment. Apart from the fact that I finished it in an afternoon (most games are the same these days) the enemies are plain dumb and ...
Summary: This game is a major disappointment. Apart from the fact that I finished it in an afternoon (most games are the same these days) the enemies are plain dumb and just stand there waiting to get shot. The segments of the game are too short, too disjointed and interrupted too often by those damn film clips. I really don't care about the "storyline" I just want to play the game, not listen to endless boring crap that masquerades as background to the story.
Apparently one commentator thinks that this is a multiplayer game first and a campaign game second. I must have missed that on the labelling. It would probably come as a surprise to them to know that many people don't play online, or with others. None of this excuses what a poor game this is.
