I believe they took a few steps back instead of forward
by eljefe1981 on November 15, 2008
Pros: The Pros are that it is still a Call Of Duty game and that it has online play.
Cons: Cons are the graphics are by no means up to par with the previous Call of duty. Also, the sound is a bit uncoordinated. Finally, the movement of the characters feel and look a bit too robotic.
Summary: Rent this game first before you by it. I bought it and I feel that I wasted my money on a game that if anything it should have been better ...

Summary: Pros: Enyone feeling like blowing apart piece's of zombies? well what about Nazi zombies? With really fun and intense gameplay, nazi zombies really makes you come back for more zombie madness! You can get weapons like M2 Flamethrower's, Ray Guns (alien gun's from the 50's), and some really cool machine guns, shot-guns, and rifles! with tons of really cool and awsome weapons you'll always have fun dismembering zombies! :D
Online play is back, and who would have thought that killing poeple with guns from like 64 years ago would have been this fun! WW2 has never been this fun, and i really mean that! getting to roast people online with a M2 Flamethrower is actually preety cool to see. Online is NOT a let down, and if you think it is, well then your sadly mistaking!
Ok so the big question here is the campaigne and the weapons! their lots of weapons on COD5 (well atleast the cool ones :P) here's a list to show whatkind of family the guns come from and all the guns that you can use on Call of Duty: World at War
Rifles
M1 Garand
Mosin Nagant
Kar98
Arisaka Type 99
M1903 Springfield
M1A1 Carbine
SVT-40
Heavy Sub-Machine guns
Browning Automatic Rifle
MP-44
PPSH(drum mag.)
Light Sub-Machine guns
M1A1 Thompson
MP-40
Type 100 Sub-Machine gun
Sten
Light Machine guns
Browning M1919A6
MG-34
MG-32
FG-42
Type 92 Heavy Machine gun
Sniper Rifles
Kar98 Scoped
M1903 Springfield Scoped
Mosin Nagant Scoped
Gewehr 43
Shotguns
Trench gun
Double-Barelled shotgun
Sidearms
Knife(not used as sidearm slot)
Katana(not sure if its used as a sidearm slot)
Colt 45
TT-33
PO8 Luger
Nambu 14
Walther P38
... These are all the weapons and the M1A1 Carbine is a special gun, but dont worry you can unlock that weapons we you rank online!
WW2 has NEVER looked this beautiful! Every pixel is at work on this game and the sound is just amazing! it's so real and so vivid, sometimes you might even forget your playing a game!
The controls respond REALLY quick and are perfect and preety much easy to remeber! Yay.
...Time for the negative of this game
Cons
Their should be more levels for the Nazi Zombie's! (for PS3 and X360)
It would of been cool if Hitler was the boss of the Nazi zombies, but sadly we don't get to blow off his head.
The game could of been a bit longer, but hey im not rellay complaining. You might just findyourself trying to beat it fast enyway because you might just want to unlock the Nazi Zombies. (in order to unlock Nazi Zombies, you need to beat story mode on eny diffaculty level.)
overall, this game really deserves a good score, so im hear to give it just that!
I give Call of Duty: World at War for Playstation 3 ... 9.6/ 10 -
COD5 BETTER THAND COD4???
by hockeyman_99 on November 29, 2008
Pros: Co-op in single player missions.
Online display is a tad better and more graphical then cod4
Much more realistic than cod4.
vast, detailed maps
Very fun!
Tanks
dogs
hiher ranks
more leading tacticsCons: The guns arent the greatest
graphics are not beter, maybe even worse than cod4.
Dissapointed how its back to the "based on wII"

Summary: I have both cod5 and cod4. Cod4 is maybe a bit better. However, if you played cod4 for a long time now it has gotten very boring. And cod5 just a great game to play to continue the cod experience. But, Cod5 is much more realistic then Cod4. The big problme is that it goes back to world war two. The game play is a bit better than cod4, especially online. But the I kinda miss the modern warfare. The vast maps have many buildings, broken planes, and other blownup and damaged materials to run around and hide in. The snipping isnt that great in cod5, but still its cool. There are many more reason i can expand on and such, but i prefer not to. I definetly recomend cod5. Although, the price is a bit expensive. $60.00(CDN).

Better than COD4!
by peteyboy84 on November 17, 2008
Pros: All the good of COD4 with extra tweaking, more realism and even gore thrown in. If you're a fan of WWII then this is the best in the genre. CO-OP Campaign is AWESOME! IMO, better than COD4 in all areas.
Cons: Some of the levels in the pacific are too detailed and colorful from the flowers and foliage, which makes it a little tiring on the eyes in multiplayer. That's about it!
Summary: If you're a fan of WWII then this is the best in the genre. IMO, better than COD4 in all areas. More customization and ways to play the game.

Waste of money

Cons: 1) The maps are either way to small or way to large. These maps aren't fun to play on compared to COD4... 2) There are only 8 maps, 3) This game is much darker and the old WWII weapons suck to use

Summary: Don't buy this game, instead buy COD4... The online playing for COD4 is much more fun than World at War. The weapons on COD4 are soo much better to use and the maps are 10 X better!!! I honestly think I wasted my money buying this stupid game.
Why can't the makers of these games make a COD with a lot of maps? The only reason I like these games is because of the online play! World at War online play sucks!!! -
Same ol' engine, different maps and weapons
by macresources on November 13, 2008
Pros: Smooth, lifelike graphics in new settings; multiplayer co-op modes adds a new twist to the game play; more data on play and community
Cons: Same old platform that lacks the excitement of COD 4; little innovation; use of profanity by characters in the game, which was not in the earlier version (parents beware); just not enough breakthroughs to warrant the $65 (plus tax).
Summary: I was disappointed in the game play; the new guns are hard to control; air strikes and choppers are now artillery strikes and guard dogs; you can get in a ...
Summary: I was disappointed in the game play; the new guns are hard to control; air strikes and choppers are now artillery strikes and guard dogs; you can get in a tank with a teammate riding shotgun on the machine gun turret. There is also use of the F word by characters in the game (and I don't mean online players). This surprised me when my 11-year-old was playing it and the expletives was loud and clear. In co-op mode, you can team with 3 others online to complete missions. The maps are large more not all that creative. Essentially, it's COD 4 dressed up in a different period. RENT IT FIRST BEFORE YOU BUY IT. YOU MAY FEEL IT'S NOT WORTH THE $65.

Don't waste your time!!!
by dcan428 on January 11, 2009
Pros: It's a "good" world war 2 game but that's about it. Graphics are what one would come to expect from a WWII shooter but a step back from COD4.
Cons: If you are tired of the world war 2 scene then stay away from this game. Treyarch pretty much copy the path Infinity Ward paved for them and slapped it onto a world war 2 video game. Even I could have do that!
Summary: There is a reason why Infinity Ward moved on from the WWII era, I think the rest of the game developers should follow too.

THIS IS THE BEST WWII GAME EVER.
by prostacker on November 24, 2008
Pros: THE STORY IS GOOD. THE NAZI ZOMBIE MODE IS GOOD.THE RUSSIANS ARE BACK! THE SOUND IS GREAT. THERE IS GORE! IT'S 4 PLAYER CO-OP ONLINE AND 2 PLAYER CO-OP OFFLINE! THERE IS A FREAK'N RAY GUN IN THE NAZI ZOMBIE MODE!! YOU DRIVE A TANK ONLINE AND OFFLINE!
Cons: IF IT WASNT ON ANY OTHER SYSTEM BESIDES PS3/XBOX 360/PC THEN IT WOULD HAVE GOOD GRAPHICS. IF IT WAS 4 PLAYER CO-OP OFFLINE.
Summary: THIS IS FREAK'N AWSOME!!!!

No new game here. They took COD4 and RUINED it.
by Sheldonsjunk on November 21, 2008
Pros: The graphics and the sound. The game still looks great. While you're dying over and over again, you can look around and marvel at the detail. Sounds really good, too. Crank up the surround sound and you'll think you're watching a good war movie.
Cons: Everything else. No split-screen multiplayer, online or connecting xboxes. Character movement (running/walking) is too fast and ruins the build of the game. Online, spawning is out of control. If you play FPS online, you know what I mean.
Summary: If you care about campaign or CO-OP modes then maybe you enjoy this game for a bit. However, they promised to focus on Multiplayer and then took several steps backwards....
Summary: If you care about campaign or CO-OP modes then maybe you enjoy this game for a bit. However, they promised to focus on Multiplayer and then took several steps backwards.
Without the ability for online split-screen (they KNEW we wanted this), you won't be able to play online with your mother, brother, friend, roommate on the same xbox. Nor can you link up several xboxes and play against each other. While it says linked multiplayer 2-18 players, they really mean ONE person for each Xbox and each game. They're either completely ignorant of what makes a FPS fun, or they only care about making everyone own a copy of the game. I can be sympathetic towards trying to please everyone and not getting things exactly right, but this is inexcusable.
So, while I'm sitting there playing the game alone, is the game good enough to look past these mistakes? No. It's the same game with a new face, a face that's been tweaked a little bit for the worse. At first I thought the excessive dying was related to a big learning curve.
No. I've realized two things, though. They increased the movement speeds to a point that ruins the build of the game, making most of your guns useless unless you can find a way to be cheap. This isn't fixable. In addition, the spawning (online) is ridiculous. Killing a guy means, that the next second he can appear behind you. Every death you risk spawning in the sights of the other team (or even the guy who just killed you!). This could be fixed I believe, but I doubt it.
The result is a game that allows very little strategy and TON of frustration and goes further by making you play the game alone. Maybe next time they'll get it right. I doubt this, also.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I am an avid COD4 player and was excited to see what COD5 would provide. So far, I am more than impressed! Great graphics, historically accurate situations and jaw dropping battles. The first time a Japanese Soldier jumps out of the jungle with his bayonet pointed at your chest...well my reaction was complete surprise! At one point, you hit an ambush triggered by a parachute flare. Anyone who has (in real life mind you) triggered a trip flare, will appreciate the blinding light that smacks you in the face as you hear the enemy coming at you...awesome!
One added feature was the call for fire. This gives you ability to call for rapid artillery (rockets in the first scenario) to destroy enemy fortified positions or suppress enemy machine guns so you can advance. A great feature and one needed to add to the reality of the game.
Haven't gotten online yet but I'm hoping to this weekend. So far, COD5 is right on target as another GREAT winner!0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
