Summary: The Devil May Cry series has been always known for the stylish action. This new entry will satisfy fans and non-fans of the series.Let's start with the new character,Nero. This guy is awesome! The Devil Bringer(his demonic arm) brings the player new ways to combat their enemies and help them to raise he stylish rank. The best move of the Devil Bringer is the Buster, which is a grab that do serious damage to your enemies, specially to the bosses. Also,Nero's sword, the Red Queen have an ability called Exceed, which help to charge up your attacks. The game's visuals are beautiful, everything here looks great, you can even see the character's shadows! The enviorements always have their spooky appereance. But,what really impress are the cutscenes.Everything is well detailed, specially the charaters animations. But the game have the bad things. When playing as Nero, you figth through a city,a castle and a forest. When playing as Dante, you play by those same areas and defeat the same bosses! Is like rewinding a tape and playing it again. Also, the boss figths can be a little frustrating for the fact that Dante doesn't have the Devil Bringer. But don't worry,Dante's combat is satisfying and fun. Also,is easier to raise the stylish gauge when playing as him.To end,Devil May Cry 4 will bring you the big thrills and the unexpected twists you can wait from a game like this.Enjoy!
Summary: First, I'm new to the franchise and I got the game as a Valetine's Day gift from my wife (way2go love) and she did a great job picking this one out. This is a great game! The visuals are amazing and the gameplay is fairly simple to learn, especially if you choose to go the "Human" and "Automatic" route. Rapid Triangle use will just about get you through the game for a while but you'll soon find that button mashing is for the faint of heart.
The game has combos galore and you can increase your character's combo abilities and weapon lethality via at the divinity statues by handing over red orbs and souls earned through game-play. The coolest part about this is that when you feel that you don't want to use a certain style or ability, you can sell them right back and use the orbs / souls for something else. just get back to a divinity statue and you're good to make changes.
The whole fuel injected blade thing caught me completely off guard. I love it though, about as much as I love the up close and personal nature of Assassin's Creed. Seriously, someone should put this thing on a Dyno and see what its running. The fact that you can give it some oomph via the divinity statue and soe souls makes it all the more better.
The visual asthetic is immense. Waterfalls, city scenes, ice settings, palaces and the like all show that the development team couldn't wait to get the hands on the PS3's powerful platform. I thouroghly enjoyed kicking a certain frog-demon's boss-butt causing his skin to wave when I hit him.
The Bosses are nicely rendered on this one. A bit easy to beat but from what I hear about DMC3, that's quite alright. I couldn't give this game a 10 because I see the same bosses over and over and smashing them is just about as easy as the first time through.
Midway through the game you'll switch to Dante's to whoop some demon butt but the demons are the same. The locations are the same too, but you'll notice some things in the background that you didn't before and that's cool, right?
Personally, I think this game is a perfect go-between for Assassin's Creed and the return of Kratos in God of War 3 but the repetition of key parts in the game bring down the excitement after a while.
