Poorly designed game
by fatnurd on March 4, 2009
Pros: The online play appears to be competitive.
Cons: The storyline was very poorly written. The egregious of language sems to be directed at foul mouthed adolescents. The controls poorly ordered. The aiming system was inaccurate. No real heavy weapons. Even the battle with the boss was poor.

Summary: The storyline was very poorly written. the ideas of invasion because of a "weird" air defense system started off making the game unbelievable. The ISA soldiers not having s to suffer the atmospheric effect s such as the Helghast was another big oversight. The egregious of language sems to be directed at foul mouthed adolescents. The boss Radec ability infiltrate the ISA ships was also a hack job. The battle with him at the end was also very contrived with the cloak also instantly transporting him to another location. The controls poorly ordered. The aiming system was inaccurate. The use of the knife seemed to be one way favoring the NPC but not the player. No real heavy weapons.

Controls suck. The PS3 was NOT made for FPS games. Go play Madden or something.
Hype got me all excited. Then let me fall.
Pros:
Great graphics, one of the few games that actually uses any of the PS3's superior hardware. Has multiplayer.
Basically:
The game was hyped out of its mind. Everyone was ranting about graphics, how the gods handed it to Kratos, who then killed/handed out the game to everyone. It sold over 9,000! Well, over 750,000 in the first 7 days, contrasting over 1 million copies of Halo 3 sold on the first day.
Bottom Line: Don't give in to the hype. Go try it before you toss 70 clams to the nearest video game wallet-raping-retailer.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best visuals on PS3 thus far. Clunky controls.
by bbc909 on March 3, 2009
Pros: The graphics are something to behold on HDTV's. The story isn't deep but it is enough to get you through the game with fairly understanding whats going on.
Cons: Where do I start? Controls are very slow and sluggish, at time's uncomfortable as well. You have to fire an entire clip to kill an enemy, and you do the same thing practically on every level. No variety.
Summary: Great game overall if you are not accustomed to shooters like Call of Duty. This is not as faced paced or smooth as well. The graphics are top notch here ...
Summary: Great game overall if you are not accustomed to shooters like Call of Duty. This is not as faced paced or smooth as well. The graphics are top notch here as well as audio, you really feel as if you are submerged in a battle. Now slowdown on the screen despite all that is taking place. The game would be perfect if the controls were more like COD's! It's a must have for people looking for that FPS that is different despite all the others that are out there.

Average FPS
by Flared24 on February 28, 2009
Pros: decent graphics; excellent enemy AI; nice variety of weapons; fantastic use of the SIXAXIS; occasional sections of strategy
Cons: weak storyline; poor character voicing; minor glitching; slow weapon reloading; some very basic weapons; enemies take too much damage; difficult controls; repetition in levels; generally the same enemies throughout the stages; poor cutscenes
Summary: This game isn't much different than your standard FPS. Although it offers a phenomenal multiplayer experience, the campaign isn't that great. The graphics are the same as most ...
Summary: This game isn't much different than your standard FPS. Although it offers a phenomenal multiplayer experience, the campaign isn't that great. The graphics are the same as most PS3 games now, but they are still worth playing for. If not for the comprehensive enemy AI, this game wouldn't be much short of a bore. Your ISA buddies don't have the same intelligence as the Helghast, which is really a downside, and levels can be incredibly repetative. However, at many times you will have to use strategy and the use of the SIXAXIS, which really flushes out all those minor flaws. The game lacks a complex story that most gamers really are in favor of, since it makes you push yourself through the individual campaign stages eagerly instead of forcing yourself to get past it all just for the sake of beating it. The cutscenes may not at all be what you were expecting, considering this game took too many years to create. Usually, cutscenes are greater than gameplay, but in this instance, they both seem equal. Only the introduction cutscene is worth watching, while others are short and nothing exciting. The occasionally switching from first-person to third-person for these cutscenes really can bother the player since it doesn't work for a good transition. Overall, I would suggest only getting this if you're up for a long fight and have the patience of a hunter.

I downloaded the demo all I can say is AMAZING!
by educatedpapi on February 27, 2009
Pros: The graphics were way beyong anything I have ever seen on a console for this type of GENRE. Good Bye Gears this game will leave you in the dust.
Cons: I love FPS games but I am an avid pc gamer so trying to aim using console controls drives me crazy and makes me feel dizzy at times. Other than that though I couldnt find anything wrong with the demo and I am sure the game will be GREAT!
Summary: I dont know about you guys but I am dying to play this game with a mouse and keyboard.

- Description: In and out within a month, they said. Their weapons no match for our military might. Predicted moderate to low resistance. Enemy morale at an all-time low. They couldn't have been more wrong. Welcome to Helghan. Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA are taking the fight to Helghan. Their goal: to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt. You assume the role of Sev, a battle-hardened veteran and a member of the special forces unit known as the Legion. For Sev and his squad, the invasion of Helghan is just beginning. Tasked with securing Pyrrhus, the Capital City, they quickly discover that the Helghast are a formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only have they adjusted to the planet's hostile conditions, they have also harnessed a source of power they can now use against the ISA. Sev and his squad aren't just fighting the enemy forces - their fiercest opponent is the planet itself. Between Killzone's unique visual style, the power of Playstation 3, the use of EDGE tools and the proprietary technology developed by Guerrilla, the game promises to impress players with its benchmark visuals, smooth character animation, detailed, effect-laden environments and realtime cutscenes. The Deferred rendering technology will present a world that is beautifully lit, with ambient occlusion and multiple shadow casting light sources bringing out the highly detailed environments and character animations. With true next-gen audio the player is even further immersed in the world, supporting 7.1 surround and audio occlusion with wave tracing. The player will not only notice the difference between indoor and outdoor but also experience sound and music that are dynamic and contextual. Studio grade special effects will provide unprecedented visual fidelity. With full screen anti-aliasing, motion blur, internal lens reflections and depth based color grading the picture will be sharp, smooth and full of depth.
