Mayor drawback

Summary: The game begins nice, but after that you're done with it. The city is very undeveloped and requires to much loading time for what it actually is. First the city gets loaded, loaded again for the event, loaded again for the battle, and finnaly loaded for the Post battle. This ruins gameplay.
Also the camera is totally unreal. It switches at the msot critical positions from view which causes you to either come to a complete stop or run of the track, brining the game to nearly impossible at some points.
As for graphics, the levels really demonstrate what is possible on the PS3, but there are still mayor glitches in the game, especially on cutscenes and stuttering movies.
The characters are not developed enough. The game evolves about the three main characters, but the many sidekicks make it confusing at some point and often have nothing related to the actuall storyline. How they always stay up to date on events ingame beats me.
On the whole this game was a nice attempt to relive the Sonic Saga but Sega really messed up with releasing such a crappy game regarding the bugs and glitches that exist. I still play my copy now and then, but I happily place it aside for my other games.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Frustrating and dull
by Strattera on March 29, 2007
Pros: starts out looking promising
Cons: gameplay and control is awful, repetitive, sometimes slow

Summary: I was hoping this would be fast and fun like the old sonic but I was sadly disappointed. Even my kids who can play anything have shelved this stinker. The only part they seemed to enjoy was the "tag" play. Saving the game is too difficult and having to "go back" so far when you die is really annoying.

Couldve been better
by Rob021683 on March 17, 2009
Pros: You can play as different characters and a lot of stages are alright.
Cons: Bad camera angles.Out of all the characters you can be I liked Sonic the least.Because of the camera angles his speed works against you too many times.
Summary: Im disappointed. People have complained about the camera angles for Sonic games for awhile now and they still havent done more to improve on it.

Good 'ol Sonic is Back. But He's No Fun.
by drgdug on February 10, 2008
Pros: Sonic & Co get to go to some very visually interesting worlds.
Cons: Poor gameplay. Way too much time loading.

Summary: Against some good advice, I bought Sonic. And now I regret it. It was so much fun (in the 80s?). Game play can be fun at times. The worlds that Sonic visits are interesting. But this game just wasn't developed well. The plot is so flat, it almost doesn't exist. The loading and reloading is tedious and time consuming. Was this game hurriedly adapted from a different platform? I say yes. But really, it comes down to game play and, mostly, it is NOT fun. It seems like I'm only tolerating it to see if the next level might be fun, and it isn't. Sorry, no real fun here
