Amazing; Beautiful; Addicting; everything a gamer wants
by Downhere03 on March 23, 2007
Pros: Graphics are awesome; Runs smooth; Knights of the Nine quest added; Very in-depth story; Easy to learn controls and menus; I was immersed in the game from the start
Cons: Still see things "appear" in the distance.. but.. who cares?

Summary: I first owned this game for my PC and I thought it was mind blowing. Unfortunately, my laptop couldn't handle Oblivion anywhere near its full potential. I decided to get it for the PS3 and I am more than satisfied. In fact, I've decided that it's my second favorite game of all time; second only to the immortal Final Fantasy VII. Oblivion for the PS3 is an amazing game, hands down.

Summary: I originally got this game for my PC, but I had to decrease the graphics, so I can have decent game play. The PS3 version looks like the PC version with the graphics maxed out. The game is a very good RPG. I like the first person aspect of it. The only complaint I have, is that there are way too many load times. I feel like I’m constantly looking at the load screen, but that is the same with the PC version as well. Overall, a person can easily get consumed by playing this game, and your social life might suffer from it.

A Fantasy Adventure Not To Be Missed!
by onyx7591 on August 2, 2010
Pros: Deeply immersing. Hundreds of Sidequests. Gameplay is easy with minimal learning curve. Real roleplaying. Plenty of customization. Graphics are wonderful. Magic is easy to use. Really long and can last for a long time.
Cons: Loading is a little annoying but not enough to keep you away from playing. Main quest missions are not simple to follow at times. Again small frustrations.

Summary: I played Morrowind on the original Xbox and I hated that game with a passion. Playing Oblivion, I really didn't know what to expect. Most reviews were bad but always ended in "if you like it you will love it and if you hate it you will despise it even more." But upon starting the game, the story seemed engaging from the start.
THIS GAME SHOULD NOT BE MISSED. It was a challenge early on for me because I was so used to JRPG's whereas you follow your lead character and the story. In Oblivion, you make the story. The start of the game gets you used to the gameplay which I didn't really find to be hard at all. But once you are set free in the world, it is yours to conquer. With no kind of time limits or anything, you can progress however you like. I have been playing this game for 3 months before I wrote this review and there is still so much more to see. I actually bought the GOTY for the extra 2 main quests and there is so much to do. This thing could probably carry me for the next 6 months to a year with all the sidequests and other things that I can find on the map. Shivering Isles actually takes you to a whole new dimension for you to explore which adds easily another 100 hours aside from the main quest.
If you own a console and have always wanted to know what World of Warcraft is like, here is your chance. THis game literally allows you to live whatever kind of life you want. With 5 differentguilds to conquer, you will neveer find yourself with nothing to do. There are times when even looking at your surroundings that makes this game so fascinating to watch. The pretty environments are all over. And even when visiting the norse areas, unlike other games, there is actually snow there and it is colder as represented by seeing your breath.
I would tell anyone that if they have no other game that they are playing and want something that is going to last for a long time, this is the game to get. Even so old, it still looks great especially in HD. Definitely a keeper. -
A few of the pros and cons of the game

Pros: great customization, great graphics, long and not beaten easily.
Cons: voices get repetitive, can get lost if the map is not used often.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a RPG style game that was made to entertain the people, like teens who wanted to get away from their life. It follows a lot of the basic qualities of an RPG but it lacks a few to. Its main objective for being made was to entertain people and it serves its purpose well. Even though its Plot can get a little tough to follow due to the many subplots, the game is worth the money.
The game has many pros that out way the cons. The game is a new generation game so the graphics are unbelievable. The game has many different subplots to keep you occupied and can make it last for years. It has many ways to customize your own Characters like making your own weapons and spells. Each character class has its own Strengths and weaknesses so no class is like the other. It's got a vast map that allows for hours of exploration. Fights in the game are fast paced so the combat controls help.
It is a great game, but it has its weak points. There are a lot of characters, and remembering what role they play can be a pain. There are also a few glitches in the game like trying to go up mountains then getting stuck in rocks. Although there are numerous characters, the monster variety is limited. It is easy to get lost in the world due to its size. The characters are all fully voiced over, but a lot of characters use the same voice. -

Summary: I have never really been a huge RPG fan, im more of a shoot'em up kinda guy. I bought this used at a local retailer. I honestly have to say that I was extremely impressed with this game. The graphics are great, not stunning but extremely good. The game is very versitile, you can play the game for hours and hours on one character, start a new one and spend hundreds of more hours uncovering all new places and quests. Unfortunately there are a few glitches in the game and it hangs every once and a while but welcome to the world of games and computer technology. I wish there could have been an online component, even if it didnt allow players to play with or against themselves, atleast to allow updates to correct minor problems. Over all I am extremely impressed and will continue to play this game at my leisure.

Summary: Great game and it is totally addictive. It takes a huge time commitment...both because of the complexity and enormity...but also because of serious bug problems. I have lost so much time due to the game freezing or finding down the road that something is not working (ex. a door or gate will not open during a crucial quest). When it happens, you have to go back to a prior save that is pre-bug. One time it meant going from finding a bug in a crucial quest while at Level 26 and having to go back to a Level 15 save in order to get pre-bug. That was around 2 weeks of playing that went down the tubes! I almost threw the game out the window at that point. Patience is a must!

- Part number: 12060
- Description: Oblivion is a single-player game that takes place in Tamriel's capital province, Cyrodiil. You are given the task of finding the hidden heir to a throne that sits empty, the previous emperor having been killed by an unknown assassin. With no true Emperor, the gates to Oblivion (the equivalent of hell in the world of Tamriel) open, and demons begin to invade Cyrodiil and attack its people and towns. It's up to you to find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel. In keeping with the Elder Scrolls tradition, players will have the option to experience the main quest at their own pace, and there will be plenty of opportunities to explore the vast world and make your own way. Numerous factions can be joined, such as the thieves or mages guilds, and each contains its own complete storyline and the chance to rise to the head of the faction and reap further rewards. Oblivion features a groundbreaking AI system, called Radiant AI, which gives non-player characters (NPCs) the ability to make their own choices based on the world around them. They'll decide where to eat or who to talk to and what they'll say. They'll sleep, go to church, and even steal items, all based on their individual characteristics. Full facial animations and lip-synching, combined with full speech for all dialog, allows NPCs to come to life like never before.
