Beautifully designed, very poor engineering.

I am a teacher and a design professional (yes I can draw) and this tool make my drawings look like those of my 5 year old.
Charming but usually won't impress your customers.
The commercials are completely misleading. It doesn't do what it says on the tin.
Transfer to illustrator is terrible and editing takes hours; a 5cm straight line will have 150 control points; expect between 5.000 and 10.000 points for any A4 drawing (with often up to 6 points stacked on top of one another). Of course you can simplify the path but you will then completely loose the "hand drawn" charm of the artwork and it will take you the day.
If you read the fine prints in the user guide they will tell you that the level of accuracy is +/- 2.5mm!
that's 2.5mm on each side of your starting point so any line you will trace probably won't align or will appear curved (even if you use a ruler, I tried).
I owned Wacom product for years and love them, Inkling is an immense disappointment.

Expensive junk.

Pros: Concept is out of this world. Compact simple design magnificent. Ability to draw on the go, fabulous. Process from drawing on paper to transferring to application- too easy. Potential to use the screen like a tablet promising.
Cons: It simply does not work. The transfer of the drawing to illustrator is disastrously unlike the original. The registration is so far out it cannot be taken seriously. The idea that it can be used with the PC screen like a tablet is pure fantasy.
Summary: The concept is fabulous but it's all down hill from there.

The transfer to Illustrator was disastrous. All the lines were 'out'. The registration is awful and unacceptable- touching up would be laborious and time consuming- it's not worth it and certainly does not produce professional looking drawings. The amount of points per line is ridiculously high and unnecessary. Again, going over it and touching it up is laborious- it defeats the purpose of eliminating the scanner.
Sadly, the Inkling is no alternative to scanning in hand drawn illustrations. Most telling was when my eleven year old excitedly tried the Inkling with much anticipation and then shortly after, silently walked away and never asked to use it again.
Those who proclaim that the there is an unlisted extra- that the inkling can be used just like a tablet using the PC screen are delusional. It's phenomenally easier using the mouse- which I wouldn't bother doing either.
I live in hope that there will be a patch of some sort that will justify bringing my Inkling out of the bottom drawer and maybe even leaving the Inkling on the market.
This is an expensive, totally useless piece of junk. My advise is don't waste your money.
