cool gadget that makes satellite radio more portable than ever!

Pros: small, looks cool, can hold a lot of audio, connects to wi-fi, good battery life

Summary: i got my stiletto 2 over a month ago and overall i absolutely love it. its small, i have the sirius case for it (which is protects it and is functional), i have a home and car dock for it too.
i bought it mainly to have the ability to record live programs from sirius to listen to them at a later date. it works great except that i have noticed that the stiletto has had to "repair media files" multiple times and i have lost files that i have had saved (even though i had the setting to "save all from this channel". the software seems a little glitchy and slow.
simple screens take pauses before loading that just shouldn't take that long to load (its not like its loading high-def video clips)
it does sync into wireless networks easily and stream the music nice, i only wish all the satellite channels were also available over internet radio too... i don't think you can record the internet feeds either but i could be wrong
my sirius studio won't start up on my computer for some reason so i can't connect the stiletto to the computer to download the saved content. says background intelligent transfer system won't start...
overall i love it though. it absolutely needs work to fix the problems it has (hopefully a software update could correct things)5 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I got this yesterday from Best Buy and Sirius has hit a homer with this one,802.11 B,G,smaller build,built in charge light next to on off switch,built in 2GB of memory and you can add up to 8 GB in mini SD card.The finish on the radio is the same as the Motorola Z3 and it is a solid feel to it not that flimsy plastic feel of the 100.The antenna headphones are made by Altec Lansing and are so much better than the first headphones that came with the 100 they are really a comfortable fit and work well.There is also a new menu setup and you can make the menu read out larger if you are as blind as me.There are many new changes and I have to say it sounds great with either WiFi or the antenna headphones!
Now for the down side they have not got the car kit released yet and Sirius told me it would be three weeks before it is released,and the old car kit will not work with this new version and the old home kit will not work with it either but that is a small price to pay for the MUCH improved radio.I have to say go check it out at Best Buy and see for yourself how much different it is I thing that you will be as suprised as I was.I have to say I will not miss the old 100 I had so much trouble with it I had it replaced four times in six months and so I was really glad that this has finally been released,I think that they have really worked the bugs out of this but time will tell!!4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: The Stiletto 2 has some improvements, but over all the Stiletto 100 was a better model. I recently got a Stiletto 2 from Best Buy because my Stiletto 100 stopped working. I had a warranty so it was a "pay the difference" replacement.
To my shock I could not instantly save my favorite songs to my library by clicking the "heart" button. Instead it saved them to a "wish list" which later you need to pay .99 to download the songs.
Also, the "radio replay" option now has a time limit on it. After a specific about of time has passed, your radio replay is deleted, whether you listen to it or not. The Stiletto 100 erased music only as needed.
The software included hasn't made any improvements. I like iTunes way better. You'd think that eventually they would improve it.
If you are thinking of purchasing this model, think about saving your money. The extra $140 for this model is definitely not worth the upgrade to me. If Sirius wants to stay in business they certainly aren't trying hard to do so. Maybe the increase in price of the Stiletto 2 is because they need to pay Howard those hundreds of millions of dollars.4 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

POS do not buy! 32k sound quality

Pros: The web streaming is great! The quality of the sound is 128k like they say.
Cons: The sat quality is junk its is 32k pac compression. And now that they are with XM and have way more channels the quality is just junk. The give some channels more banwith and you can tell.

Summary: This thing is so bad i have had 4 in the last 3 weeks. I just called Sirius today and told them to go to hell and give me my money back after 5 years and could not be happier. Most of the rock channels are the ones that they compress the most and the vox, guitar, and drums sound so bad i wanted to check it out the window. And you can not pick up signal even with the junk head phones they give you. 300$ LOL just Google before you buy and you will not buy one. Get a ipod or slacker player.

It is a great idea...but avoid this device

Pros: None, it is a very unreliable device.
Cons: Unacceptable reception. When the Wi-FI actually does work, it does not record. The SD card adds storage, sound is slightly distorted. The reception headphones are a joke, very uncomfortable, bulky, and they still do not obtain decent reception.

The first one wouldn't even power up, so I called customer service and returned the product to best buy. The 2nd one I bought did power up, however everything I was excited about quickly turned to disappointment. The reception is awful, the wi-fi can't record, the headphones are supposed to double as an antenna, which fail as well. I bought this to listen to when I take long distance motorcycle rides. After one ride 1000 mile ride I have put the stiletto 2 back in the box, and am now planning to return it to best buy. I have since been using my trusty Zune mp3 player. I am really disappointed because I really wanted this product to work the way it is described to. Do yourself a favor and avoid this product.
I will admit I may have left a pretty rotten review before really educating myself on this device. I was annoyed that it was not a plug and play device. There really is quite a bit of thought that needs to go along with the stilleto 2. I decided to give the stiletto 2 another chance. This time I bought the car kit. It was like night and day. Instantly I was enjoying sirius radio in my car. From there I decided to buy the home kit so I could record music since you can't record from wi-fi. It has been great too. Next, I bought another vehicle kit and installed it on my motorcycle. I must admit this little device is so much better than I previously thought. Bring on the crow, it will taste good while I am listening to Howard Stern.

Pros: Clean commercial free programming, small package, great battery life, tons of versatility. I simply listen/record live while docked at home and use WiFi internet listening or recording playback on the go.
Cons: Internet radio via WiFi, you can mark the song you are listening to as a wish, but it's only a reference for you to look up and purchase at a later. I think it should record in internet mode or record the song the next time its played in live mode.

Summary: I am an IT specialist by trade/gadget junkie. I researched up and down for the best unit for satellite radio. Bottom line is so many have written bad reviews about all of them. I typically don't write reviews, but I feel that this product has too many unjustly low review scores. I don't really think this or any portable satellite unit is extremely simple to use. You just have to understand where the boundaries lie. It is a satellite radio, your signal comes from space. That being said, any object between this unit's antenna and the satellite will interfere with the signal strength. The satellite according to Sirius is just over the US/Canada central border, so your path from where you are to the satellite must be clear of most trees, bodies, planes, mass amounts of birds, etc.
The coolest thing about this unit over the others is battery life and WiFi. If you are at home, in the yard, inside, in the garage, in a coffee shop, basically anywhere with WiFi, use it if you can't use a docking station. If you don't have WiFi then get the home cradle unit, point the external antenna in the direction of the satellite and listen live or record programming for your travels.
I haven't used the headphones or unit alone for mobile listening, but I will give that a try someday. I just prefer to record 6 hours of programming the night before I went anywhere so I didn't need to stress over having to go somewhere to get a clear view of the sky. The unit is so versatile and there are many ways to get the music you want to your ears. I say if you are looking for a portable unit and understand the physical limitations that will never be overcome with future models then look no further.
In my opinion I would not get this unit without at least a home or car kit. The addition of a stationary external antenna is worth it and you would be much happier.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I use mine (1) in my car dock when driving (2) on my hip, connected to my home WAN while out cutting grass (3) in the gym to listen to wi-fi sat radio/MP3 or recorded programs!. I love it! The versatility is great. I don't have a huge audio library so I merely sync/re-synch my portable tunes about every 3-4 weeks. For someone with a a LARGE library they will probably find the storage on here limited by the SD card.

Pros: When it does work all the music you get and you can record to replay inside. Great selection of content.
Cons: Went through two radios and four sets of headphones and finally gave up, terrible reliability!!

Pros: This is my first satellite radio, and I am glad that I spent the extra money and bought the Stiletto 2. Compact size, good graphics, and really good reception.
Cons: Funky headphones for mobile satellite reception could be somewhat smaller.

Pros: Sleek interface. Good size. Button layout works well. Good wifi connectivity.
Cons: Reception out of dock is terrible. Can't listen to satellite without clunky uncomfortable headphones. Won't record songs when connected to Wifi. Not all stations available via wifi.

Summary: This is such a good idea, but doesn't quite work. Ideally, if the earbud headset could function as an antennae for satellite reception, this would get 4 stars. The antennae headset is tight and uncomfortable, and is a tad flimsy in the arms.
The menu system works fine and after you get used to it, becomes quite intuitive. The reception with the car kit is as good as my other Starmate Radio, but the FM transponder has much more noise. When compared to each other on the same system, same channel, and same location, there is a constant hissing sound that my Starmate doesn't have.
I'll still use it daily as it's not that bad, but it's just not great as it could have been. I wish they could have worked out the reception issues when using it as a portable satellite radio.
MP3 and computer connectivity were not tested so I have no comments on it.
Customer service, with Sirius, has always been above average.
