The good: The Go + Play Micro's stunning design, iPhone compatibility, video output, and a remote control add up to one classy boom box.
The bad: No built-in radio, underpowered speakers, and a high price hold the Go + Play Micro back from greatness.
The bottom line: Harman Kardon resurrects its premium boom box, but skimps on some of the features and sonic details that made the original so exceptional.

Excellent boom box carrying the reputation of H-K.
by jojojav on February 3, 2011
Pros: Very clear sound. Solid bass. Sleek design. Portability.
Cons: Just a bit on the high side but I dont compromise quality and that's what H-K is.

Summary: My wife and I got this for Christmas and it has been a great match with our 30GB ipod. We love the clarity and the bass of the speakers. Vocals are solid. We played alot of 80s new wave and alternative music and danced on friday nights with this small boom box rocking our two-storey house.

Dissappointing!
by jodymconway on December 15, 2010
Pros: Only because I have teenage boys is this good....volume control. It maxes out at a certain point and doesn't go any louder.
Cons: volume control
Summary: Our friends have the old HK go and play....I thought that this one would be just as good.....I was truly dissapointed from hearing the old one .....

Looks great, but its not the original & AWESOME Go+Play
by psustud4331 on April 29, 2010
Pros: It looks great and I like that it finally has space for my iPhone.
Though the original remote was great looking it WAS NOT durable. In fact it was far from that and I ended up going through 3 of them!
This remote looks more A LOT more durableCons: The sound of the original was INCREDIBLE. "If it ain't broke don't fix it"... why did they change the speakers in this? As stated in the review, this no longer sounds as good as the original.
WHY?? IT was AWESOME!!! Why change it???Summary: So more on the sound. Like I said, the original will blow any sound dock at this price out of the water (Bose... NOT EVEN CLOSE).

It seems to me that the 5 drivers (speakers) don't mesh as well as the original Go+Play. This device now has 5 drivers: contrary to what this guys says in the video, it's not 2 tweeters on each side (4) and one woofer on the bottom, it's a small midrange and tweeter on each side and a woofer on the bottom.
The original design just had a *larger* midrange/woofer on each side and a tweeter on each side coupled with an enclosure that must have had the supposed wiz kids at Bose scratching their heads and wanting to scrap their alleged "years of research". This thing (the original had) *refined* bass in spaids and crystal clear quality highs.
From Nora Jones to Lil' Wayne & Rick Ross when placed close to a wall or corner, this baby was absolutely THUNDEROUS without the bass becoming overpowering (the bass gets incredibly deep for something this size) in the right room (most often any medium size room with 4 walls). Further more, it was NOT missing mid-range at all like so many other docks with boomy bass. All around it sounded incredible which is why I still own it despite the fact that I've really beat it up (it IS indeed truly rugged despite it's elegant looks).
In my experience, trying to squeeze a completely separate woofer, dedicated to bass, into such a small enclosure actually calls for very boomy, loose and unbalanced bass. The original relied more on it's enclosure (similar to what Bose ***tries*** to do) to produce solid bass and the result spoke for itself, literally. I don't understand why Harmon Kardon messed with a design that was so positively reviewed.
I'd also like to address the part about this new version (2.0) not being loud enough (as the guy in the video review stated). I totally believe him, which why I'm SO disappointed. The last version was VERY loud!!! I used this thing to party ALL THE TIME. I tailgate with this thing... PENN STATE STYLE... that means LOUD!
The last version ROCKED, the fact that this isn't loud is very disappointing.
My bottom line is this. I waited and waited for Harmon Kardon to make this thing more iPhone compatible and I'm very disappointed to learn that they didn't just adjust the size of the opening in the top and leave what was an incredible stereo alone!
