  Well made for a portable speaker...

  Summary: Well many complained about the bass, but you'll have to know, it's a portable speaker so it doesn't have a subwoofer for you to blow up the house, that's what I have to say regarding to the bass, I never really expected it to be as good as my mini hifi system, but it's much more than ok, the sound quality isn't really that good working with mobile phones, not sure about PCs, 12 hours of playback time... yea, it's UP TO ok? So don't expect them to give you a full playback time when you crank it up to the max volume, but it'll still work for a full 10 hours, and 10 hours can get you to many places, so don't really need to worry about the battery life if it's fully charged, as I mentioned, it can also work pretty well with just one speaker playing. If you are playing it on max volume, it won't sound as good as it does while in the lower volume, it's just not designed to blast music I guess, but the editor gave it a pretty low score, I must say with this kind of price, you're more likely to be buying the design than the sound quality, I just love it's design, Razer are always good at designing in fact I guess to spent much more time designing their product than making it work better, but it has got it's own point, their products are truly ergonomic and to be honest I would pay for that for a more comfortable experience while gaming or doing daily work, my conclusion for the Ferox is, worth a try, extraordinary design, and long playback time.
  
  As for why I didn't gave it a full 5 stars, I guess it just didn't fulfill my requirement in terms of sound quality.

  Best speaker in its class

  Summary: I have compared this speaker with others in its class: small, portable, battery operated mini speakers with 3mm jack for universal audio usability. (X-mini, series, iluv, definitely not D100). I found this speaker has a deeper audio depth, better design feature compared to others (i play around with the on off switch just for the fun of it), and amazing feel when I hold it in hand.
  
  One thing to remember is this is a tiny portable speaker, it won't match the sound of a Bose Companion 2 but it does give a decent audio overall. I don't use it much for gaming, i use it for music and movies on the go. Me and my friends are always satisfied by its performance.
  
  note: Bass is a small letdown, but i haven't found a better speaker in the same class.

  Good for the size and actual original purpose

I would recommend these to anyone, they work great for what I want them too. not sure if there is a break in period.

  Summary: I don't know what kind of high horse this CNET editor was on, but these are portable speakers. He compares to Creative's D100 but that is a big-ass desktop speaker. These are some of the best speakers of this size and they are sure to impress with their slick pop-up design. Check out vids on youtube to see them in action. You will not be disappointed. Overall I would buy again. Razer is a legit producer and I think we all know that by now.
