Piece of Junk
by 50gray on July 31, 2009
Pros: 4.3" screen is vibrant
Cons: Touch screen is slow to respond if at all
Won't sync with my laptop
No included software
Won't recognize the mini-sd card I put in it
Large, bulky
Directions are scantSummary: I bought this thinking that I was getting a great deal on an 8GB mp3/video player and wondered if it was one of those rare instances of an off-brand ...
Summary: I bought this thinking that I was getting a great deal on an 8GB mp3/video player and wondered if it was one of those rare instances of an off-brand actually being worth it. It wasn't. The included booklet was less than helpful as it gave very few suggestions as to how to troubleshoot the player (read none.) The player itself was nice, large, weighty and had a large touchscreen. However, the touchscreen barely worked and as a result made it difficult to browse the onscreen options. It wouldn't recognize the mini-sd card that I put in it, nor would it sync to my laptop, even though the box said it was windows xp/vista compatible. I took it back and got a Creative Zen 8GB for $20 less. What a rip off and a piece of crap.

Piece of junk
by JenLeath on October 25, 2010
Pros: Large screen and easy to transfer files
Cons: Doesn't play mp4 and finding videos in AVI is a joke. Slow touch screen response. Stops working.

Summary: I bought this for my daughter last Christmas instead of an Ipod because of the price..screen size..and expandable memory. It stopped working after 2 months. After paying for shipping to send it back to the Mach Speed to get fixed..it stopped working after less than a week. Now it is stuck on the language screen and will only let us choose Portuguese or Hollands and after choosing one it flashes back to the same screen. I am calling Mach Speed again today. It only cost $70..but I think it's worth it to throw it away and get her an Ipod..just to avoid paying shipping again and again to just get the same old piece of junk back.

Don't buy it.
by gnostic357 on June 13, 2010
Pros: It has a 4.3 touch-screen, which is why I bought it.
Transferring files was easy.
Two headphone jacks.Cons: It comes with sample files, such as pdf and avi that it has no ability to play. So that's odd and frustrating.
There is no support for this product on the company website. You can find a manual there, but nothing else.Summary: I put some files on it, got frustrated at what it couldn't do, then left it sitting on my desk for 3 months. I finally decided to use one ...
Summary: I put some files on it, got frustrated at what it couldn't do, then left it sitting on my desk for 3 months. I finally decided to use one of its cool features - it plays .flac files! I checked and saw that I already already uploaded the flacs I wanted to listen to. Unplugged it from my pc, went over to my bed, put my headphones in - and Ta da! It won't turn on.
It still works if I'm plugged in to a computer via USB, but as soon as I unplug it, it powers off. Lovely. I called tech support, but of course, they're closed on Sunday. I'm going to try to get an RMA number tomorrow, but I've read on their site that to get an RMA you have to have the original receipt. I don't know if it's worth searching for a receipt that I might saved 3 months ago. I usually save receipts for electronics, but not in an orderly and recoverable way. :)
Overall, a huge disappointment. -
Expected less, but got less than I expected...
by mattferrin on May 4, 2010
Pros: It is a good design, and maximizes screen size on its surface.
Cons: Both ear phone jacks went completely bad after 5 months. They don't work but the weak sauce speaker still does. Only takes txt files that are incredibly small.
Summary: I would have liked it if I could still use earphones for it.

All around great video/audio player
by blackcoog on December 11, 2009
Pros: -Large, 4.3" touch screen
-Solid chassis
-Steel back
-Great price
-Accepts most encoding
-Support for SDHC 8GB micro-SD card
-TWO headphone outputsCons: -No touch-screen gaming capability
-Takes about two hours to get a full charge
-Doesn't actually support MP4 format; AVI only
-Internal speaker could be a bit louderSummary: The bottom line: You get more than you pay for. This blows every comparably priced video/audio player out of the water! Definitely worth what you're paying; I picked ...
Summary: The bottom line: You get more than you pay for. This blows every comparably priced video/audio player out of the water! Definitely worth what you're paying; I picked mine up for less than $70 with shipping from CircuitCity.com. It's a solid, weighty machine with brilliant screen color. The internal speaker could be a bit louder, but it's not by any means unbearable. If you decide to purchase the Trio TCH843, you won't be disappointed!

Amazing Mp4
by fAnAtIcAlMuSiCiAn on September 29, 2009
Pros: The video player is crisp and clean. You can create your own equalizer! the ebooks have book marks so you can pick up form where you left off. There appears to be updates for the system. easy to use.
Cons: Hard to transmit files from itunes. no games(for now). Bad glare in the sun.

Summary: I bought this half worried that I was going to get a piece of crap, because I read the review above, and others. but when I got it everything that he had said was not true. It worked great, and I love it. The only thing is that the screen is a little, hard to get used to but all you need to use to touch it and make it respond, is the tip of your fingernail. The instructions are vague, but the only thing you need to know, is how to turn it off. all you do is hold the switch up for five seconds and a screen, that says goodbye will show. To turn it on, hold the switch in the same direction for five seconds, or until a screen that says hello comes up. with a violin. to put it on hold push the switch up and let go and it is then on hold. and If you read the instructions, and look the item up on www.machseped.com you will find that the highest micro sd card it will recognize is a 16gig.
I would recomend this highly for those who don't want to spend the money for a
I-touch.
oh ya i would recommend to use windows media player, it will make you stray away from any problems.
