The good: Integrated slot for FreeAgent Go storage drive; compact, stylish design; you can connect up to two mass USB storage devices--including a camera--at one time; 720p/1080i HD output; plays music, image, and video files; solid photo display capabilities.
The bad: Couldn't play back as many file types as competing products; no HDMI output.
The bottom line: While the Seagate FreeAgent Theater has a decent interface and good photo display options, it doesn't read as many video file formats as its competitors.

Great out of box experience

Pros: Plugged in everything and it browsed the network, logged in, and allowed playing anything in the storage server in just minutes.
Cons: Font displaying file names not adjustable, hard to read from across room

Summary: Very adaptable. Can accept USB key drives, USB drives, and can be hardwired to your network to access any media on any station. Something for every tech level in the family. VERY low cpu etc utilization on file server, under 10%. Lots of adjustment option for video, bright, contrast, etc, you can even blow the video up in size and scroll around it. Will play online content from UTube, Netflix and others without a computer involved, connects directly, you can word search or log in with your own accounts. Great way to leverage old equipment for little additional money. I've encoded files with several programs, to various AVI and MP types, no problems yet. UTube feature is a great time waster. Updates itself first thing it did when it connected. Outside of the small font problme, and if I wore my glasses, maybe that's not a problem, I love it.

Pros: The disk size that you can choose to install, such as 500GB etc
Cons: Very slow menu.
Slow response with RC.
Worst of all, it does not support most of the video formats such as AVI, MP4 etc.Summary: I have purchased this with a 500GB HDD but it is Not worth the money am afraid as it will let your any video expectations down.

Dont rely on the firmware update, i did it (1.015) and the same story, common video extensions are not supported.
Apart from the disk size and the sort of all in one unit, nothing special about it and definitely NOT worth buying.
Sorry but this is my opinion after trying it for a month.
