The good: The Microsoft Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit comes with one rechargeable battery for Xbox 360 wireless controllers and offers a much more practical solution than the Play and Charge Kit for juicing up your 360's wireless controllers.
The bad: At three hours for a recharge, it's pretty quick--but not that quick.
The bottom line: Microsoft's Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit is a must-have Xbox 360 accessory for those who already own--or are considering buying--a wireless controller.

Good product, but there is no need for it if you have a play and charge

Summary: The play and charge kit is very convenient for me, because overnight when I need to, I just plug it into the USB on my computer, and I wake up with my controller charged. It needs charging maybe once every 2 weeks, so I don't see any hassle or problem. If you don't have a play and charge, go ahead and buy this, but if you have a play and charge, its not worth it.

A Must Have

Summary: CNET wrote that the fact that it takes 3 hours to charge is still a small con. Just because there is space for a con doesn't mean you should fill it in with junk. You buy two extra batteries in addition to the ones already in your controller and you always have two batteries on stand by, ready to go, after a switch-out in 5 seconds. So, after the very first 3-hour charge of both stand-by batteries, the need to charge again becomes moot, because by the time you use up the battery again you will have two always ready to go - no waiting. Hardly a con. This is an essential accessory if you have the wireless controllers.

Summary: I will say i was able to pick this up for only $20 at best buy about a week ago and i am very happy with it. Before i got this i had just been using AA batteries and boy did my controllers suck them dry quick. My only complaint is that microsoft should include 2 batteries with this, especially since a lone battery is $11.99 and the controllers only come with the standard AA pack. other than that i suppose it is worth it in the long run as now i will always have a pack ready to go and won't have to spend more on AA's and i can always get more batteries in the future when i get more than the 2 controllers i have now.

Great for heavy gamers`
by essidus on September 23, 2008
Pros: If you have more than two people who play 4 or more hours a day on average, this is practically a requirement. It charges reasonably fast and comes with a battery, plus it plugs into the wall.
Cons: Well, first, it plugs into the the wall, so you can't hot-play, and you need at least one extra battery to be able to use this effectively.
Summary: This is a handy peripheral for those gamers who already have batteries and play often enough to be taxing on the batteries. It's worth it to get this even ...
Summary: This is a handy peripheral for those gamers who already have batteries and play often enough to be taxing on the batteries. It's worth it to get this even if you have play and charge kits, but not strictly necessary. I'd suggest having at least two batteries per controller, however, just so that you don't have to deal with times of no play. As far as general quality goes, Microsoft Xbox hardware seems to be generally top notch. I've never seen a good reason to go to another provider, at least for this.

Good since we lack other choices

Summary: The charger is good and is the best solution right now. Still, I'd like to see lithium batteries instead of the crappy rechargable AA batteries in a block of white plastic that looks like it's high tech while it's not. I mean, my ps3's controller takes around 30min to charge max. Still, right now, it's the best charger for the x360. I had the other charge kit wich needs to be plugged in the x360, and it's a pain in the neck since it's not charging while the x360 is off, so you have to plug it while playing, wich gives you... a wired controller. Anyway, I'm still hoping to see lithium batteries for the x360 too, for my ps3, my controller is charged full in 30min (around) and it last around 35 hours (around a month while I'm at the university). If a lithium pack pop on x360, buy it instead of any charger!

a must buy 360 accessory
by mallaco on June 6, 2007
Pros: very small, quicker than play and charge kit, comes with one battery
Cons: it should have another model with 3 or 4 slots for batteries
Summary: i recommend this accessory for all 360 owners. it makes life much easier, specially if you play a lot.

The perfect companion for any Xbox 360 owner!
by LiQuiD_FuSioN on November 19, 2006
Pros: Pop in a near-dead battery and charge it. That's it.
Cons: It makes a slight high-pitched noise when no battery is in; big deal!

After feeling cheated, I was decided to read a few reviews on Cnet about the new "Quick Charge Kit". A few days later, I finally got it.
I couldn't be any more satisified. Pop in a depleted battery, let it charge for.. geez, maybe less than an hour at least. And that is IT! The product does its job perfectly without any long waiting times or malfunctions. So, I highly recommend this product for any 360 owner.
And it makes me think.. what does the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 have to offer? So far, the Wii (recently bought it today) just uses AAs. -
Much better than the Play and Charge Kit
by MastrCake on July 9, 2006
Pros: Charges fast(er than the Play and Charge Kit), no wires running to your controller, Great for people with multiple controllers
Cons: People with only one Controller won't find any use, two batteries take longer to charge than one, runs slightly warm.

Summary: This product is much better than the clumbersum (yet required just in case all your batteries are charging) Play and Charge Kit! I am not saying to ditch your Play and Charge Kit, though. I recommend having both. Perfect for those with multiple controllers, not quite as much for one. If there is one thing that dissapoints me most, however, is the fact that it will take longer to charge if you have two batteries on the charger, versus one battery. Still, this is a great buy.

Great product, switch and go!!

Summary: I was the first on the list to buy this because, while I had the Play and Charge kit, it was useless while I was playing because I play on a 70" TV and being tethered to the cord was just too close. So, I bought this and an additional battery (Kit comes with one rechargeable battery!) and now I never have to worry about batteries again. A 2-3 hr. charge time for 25-30 hours or playing time seems like a pretty good thing to me. Excellent product. I just wish it would have come out earlier.

Let's keep it wireless

Summary: I don't understand why people would get the play and charge kit. It defeats the whole purpose of having WIRELESS controllers. Plus, if you have a headset on, that's TWO wires coming out of your controller. Some people say that the play and charge is convenient since it lets you play your game while the battery is charging. Here's a tip: PAUSE the game and change the battery. Anyways, you still have to get up to connect the play and charge kit to your xbox360. It's not like you can telepathically make the wire come to you. Same amount of time spent.
The quick charge kit is a necessity since the 2 AA batteries that came with my controller died after about 2 days of continuous playing.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
