The good: The Powermat successfully charges your phone without a wired connection.
The bad: The Powermat won't work with every handset, and you'll need to pay extra to charge more than one device simultaneously.
The bottom line: The Powermat isn't entirely free of wires, but it succeeds at being different and at powering your phone. On the other hand, we don't see it fulfilling a need.

Very deceptive and expensive.
by RanzerTF on December 3, 2009
Pros: The idea is there, a portable charger for all my things sounds wonderful.
Cons: Much too expensive and restrictive on what it can "wirelessly" charge.

Summary: The idea may be revolutionary, but this product is NOT. It's very expensive and very restrictive on what it can charge. The commercials also fail to mention that if you'd like to wirelessly charge your products you'll have to shell out an additional $30 for each adapter. You could end up paying nearly $200 by the time you utilize this product to it's fullest.
Purchasing additional "universal" adapters is also expensive and eliminates the whole purpose of going wireless. Do yourself a favor and instead invest in a $20 power surge outlet instead. The cords will still be there, but so will your money and your dignity.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Where is CNET's Review?

Summary: I 've been trying to research this product, and have seen it displayed in a box in a store, but haven't seen a working model. What surprises me even more, is that CNET has not even reviewed this product. Wouldn't wireless charging seem revolutionary? Couldn't this be a game changer for millions of cell phone users out there? Not a word from CNET, who supposedly is on the front edge of technology.
CNET - Please review this product. Based on the TV commercials and what it says on the box, it is very deceiving. It requires a special backing that attaches to your phone (which is only available for the iphone and blackberry) and to use it for any other phone requires a dongle that has a mini-usb port that entirely defeats the purpose of going wireless.
This product is a scam and CNET needs to point that out...and fast because this could potentially be a popular (but total bust) holiday sale item for those who aren't technically savy (think my mom).2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Not to bad really, but not sure if its worth $100.
by S1ayer55 on November 28, 2009
Pros: It dose work for a hole lot of things and the portable has come in handy on the go from time to time.
Cons: There is really no way of telling if you device is done charging, or if it lost connection.

Summary: I like it, and its not too bad of a product maybe a bit over priced but its really only good for a man at the office who needs to charge a few things with out a lot of plugs going everywhere. or some one who is on the go all the time and dose not really feel like unplugging all of his chargers for a trip when he can just grab this. So take it from someone who is on the go a lot, this is a useful devise, but only if you need it.

Very deceiving product
by z06gfy on November 11, 2009
Pros: It eliminates the need for multiple chargers
Cons: It renders an iPod touch virtually useless. The adapter case is next to impossible to remove once installed and blocks the sync port on the iPod. This prohibits docking with powered speakers.

Summary: Calls to support took forever to answer. Once answered, their rep told me their product is a charger, and the fact that their cases blocked off the ability of the Touch to dock with powered speakers was "not their problem." The fact that removing the case once installed requires a sharp knife and pliers didn't seem to phase the rep either. I returned it. There are much better, less expensive alternatives out there. I wish CNET had done a review before I wasted my money. I would have given this a 0 star rating but my mouse wouldn't cooperate

Commercial is very deceiving !

Summary: every thing that you want to charge is going to require your to buy a sleeve. Ipod G3 sleeve=$ 40.00 Powermat= 100.00 Blackberry sleeve = $30.00. if your going to charge 3 items and a mat you could easily spend over $ 200.00. and you have to take the sleeve off to sync with your computer or use a car charger. notice in that supercool commercial they never show you the back of the device. its a very ugly case the you will have to pay for and use if you want to use the power mat. This is quite possibly one of the most deceptive electronics to hit the market for some time. If you do buy one save the receipt ! my guess is you will be taking it back !

So not worth it!
by ARSacco on March 14, 2011
Pros: It will save you about 5 seconds of time.
Cons: Unreliable.
I purchased one and within 90 days the back panel became loose enough that it stopped charging. I know this is the case because if I squeeze the two contact points, the unit works. I believe this is a fundamental design flaw.Summary: Do not buy this piece of junk.

Deceptive! Only charges 1 device

Pros: Bought this for $16 plus $12 shipping.
Cons: False advertising. Only charges 1 device at a time and takes up more room than a normal charger.

Deceptive, expensive, terrible customer service
by rhoda713 on January 19, 2011
Pros: agreed - great concept, bad product
Cons: Expensive, horrible customer service, impractical return policy, no sales, not "wireless", requires separate adapters to charge each item, large item

Summary: The only reason this product gets one star is because the items arrived in a timely manner. This product will run you about $70 give or take, plus shipping if ordered on-line and different adapters needed to charge each device. Online the mat looks about the size of the phone, but it seemed much larger in real-life. I purchased two mats/adapters for my brother and co-worker who travel a lot for work. I figured they could lay the mat on the dashboards of their cars and let their phones/ipods charge on the mat while they were driving. Much to my disappointment - I found it is NOT a wirelss and portable mat - as Powermat advertises it to be. The mat still needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet. This makes it a useless product. I can leave my phone charger plugged into the wall too...and it charges just the same. Also - why would anyone waste the extra space on their desk or nightstand - when a phone takes up far less room than the mat. I did not know this until I had already given the gifts and I asked one of the recipients if they liked it. I offered to return the gift. I ordered the gifts on 11/30 and inquired on a return after the holiday season. I was informed I would not be able to return the product as it was after 30 days from the orignial purchase date. That's it. No other communication or options. VERY UNREASONABLE return policy if you ask me. Useless product, useless service. Don't waste your money - take yourself out to a nice dinner instead.

Looks slick but very deceiving - buyer beware
by cfweidenbach on December 25, 2010
Pros: The idea of a powermat as "one device charges all" sounds great but beware
Cons: I only own one device that is compatiable and I have to spend another $40 to replace the back of my device to make it work with the mat and none of my family's other devices will work with the mat per Powermat CS. User manual weak.
Summary: Until something better comes along its a waste of money and I am returning mine. The Powermat is advertised as a great way to eliminate power cords and consolidate charging ...
Summary: Until something better comes along its a waste of money and I am returning mine. The Powermat is advertised as a great way to eliminate power cords and consolidate charging needs for multi-device users/families but most average devices do not work or additional accessories needed (at a cost) to make it work. Very deceptive. Makes more sense to use the charging accesories that came with your wireless device. Search carefully for other products.
