The good: Interface tweaks make commonly used features more accessible. Flashy, eye-catching presentations are even easier to make. iWork apps play well together with added interoperability across the suite.
The bad: Still no business-grade e-mail client. iWork.com Web component doesn't allow for true collaboration. The lack of an auto save feature is a particularly problematic omission we hope to see in future releases.
The bottom line: Intuitive interface design and easy access to useful features make iWork the best office suite choice on the Mac. Though it lacks some of Microsoft Office's advanced options, iWork '09 is an emerging powerhouse in its own right.

Will not use due to lack of compatibility with PCs.
by hickmang on February 8, 2009
Pros: Like the Numbers program better than Excel, but cannot save in program readable by both Numbers and Excel which we still have on our PC machines. Like Word better than Pages. Like Keynote just fine.
Cons: We have used used PCs for many years, & are migrating to MACs. However we still have PCs in house and a lot of files generated in Microsoft Office. We can read them fine, but cannot save in a file that can still be read by PCs. MACs read them fine.
Summary: Fix the Office/iWork compatibility and I am sold. Until that time, we will use Office for Mac only because we have not fully migrated over to MACs yet. We ...

Nice improvements but no compare documents function
by michaelbenis on February 2, 2009
Pros: Easy to use and comprehensive suite with improved integration
Cons: Professional users will want a compare documents feature for Pages similar to Word
Summary: Has caught up with Office in many respects but not yet all, especially more sophisticated functions a pro user will want.

Super Inefficient

As a university student, I would have benefited SO MUCH more from another program. I'm constantly receiving documents to download from my professors, which means that I have many slides that get screwed up in the conversion from their Powerpoint to my Keynote.
I have to edit each one of them.
A real hassel.
The Apple Store employee did not warn me of the high frequency of inefficient qualities, but she surely took more than five minutes to tell me how perfect it was.
I'm highly unsatisfied.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Really a NEW app or ?
by edwinblaw on January 31, 2009
Pros: The hype sounds nice but can't really tell what it does BETTER than iWork '08. We don't have a review like MaximumPC that get into the nitty gritty and rates numerically from 1-10. Every mag and reviewer are sales types.
Cons: Seems more of an upgrade than a new app. One year old '08 shouldn't need a replacement.
Summary: Nothing to add to the above. Really try to maintain loyalty and appreciation for Apple products but this sort of thing is pretty questionanle.
