  AMD has done it,,,,again

  Pros: up to an 80% speed increase on single core applications(not games). runs very cool, idle's at 39 C

  Cons: none yet, i guess the higher price is a con, since not everyone can afford one yet.

  Summary: Having used intel and Amd quite a bit, AMD is far superior, that is if you like speed, and are tired of seeing the "hourglass". Using these dual cores, you can Ctrl+alt+delete and right click on a process, and choose which core is doing which task, very nice for doing many things at once. Compared to it's compettitor the Pentium D(which runs idle around 55 C, which is waaay to high) these amd's idle around the high 30's, thus, a much longer lifespan. The 4400 is the best bang for your buck because you get the 1mb l2 cache x2 vs the 512k of the 4200. I've had mine running for close to a month straight, NO PROBLEMS like the other reviewer had. As long as you know what you are doing you will be fine, very user friendly product, i would reccomend for anybody who likes games, animation, or other graphic intensive programs. You can go to intel and get a pentium d for around 200 bucks, but when all's said and done, you really do get what you pay for, thus is why amd's dual cores are carrying a higher price tag.

  I don't understand ...

  Pros: Fast ... faster than anything I've ever experienced.

  This is the fastest, coolest processor I've ever used. since it runs at lower clock speeds, it also has a longer lifespan and thermal stability. Being a 64-bit x86 chip, it'll run anything 32/64 bit-coded. I've ran the usual Windows XP/2000 systems, as well as Slackware Linux and OpenBSD systems and had no problems.
  
  Strong performance from a value-oriented processor that will retain its power for the future.

  Processor locks up- absolutely no backup

  Summary: If you feel like being a Pioneer with this one... DONT! I have built many systems and never had problems before but this processor is not worth the effort. It constantly locks up at 50% (mostly Explorer.exe)The system runs quite well for about 18 - 24 hours then Windows explorer stops responding- requiring restart or log off. I have tried everthing to get to the root of this problem. AMD tech support is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike, despite numerous requests for some answers - no reply. Because it is quite a new product you are totally out there on your own. I'm going back to Intel.
