- Bottom Line:
- Intel's Core 2 Duo line marks the end of AMD's run of dominance through the dual-core desktop-processor landscape. Not only are Intel's new chips fast, efficient, and well designed, but they're also aggressively priced and sure to send ripples though the desktop PC industry. If you are buying or building a new computer, we recommend that a Core 2 Duo chip be at its center.

Summary: I'm suprized there isn't a review for this yet, it seems really popular. I used this CPU in a home built system about 4 months ago. It has been GREAT! All my applications run smooth and fast, from gaming, to Matlab simulations, to photo editing, it seems WAY faster then my old system. I'm using it in conjuction with an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe Mobo and can raise the frequency to almost 2.8GHz with stock cooling. It's a great bang for your buck.

Summary: so first off i love this pc it is my media center and media hub in an active house where we all are constantly accessing it. my last server would slow and often freeze while recording 2 tv shows and burning cd's or rendering and anything else. this new beast does every thing i ask with no hesitation, well not while running xp with vista it did all but there was lots of hesitation to start the processes.any ideas why it only lags when starting a new processes? no mater the kids are not vista fans either so prettier as it may be for media center....

Pros: does what a prossesor shall do, and nothing else
Cons: nothing, no lag, fine rendering.
Summary: I got this new prossesor in my Dell Dimension 9200 and it has been perfect to me
i have tried 3 things that i think is hard on the prossesor (...Summary: I got this new prossesor in my Dell Dimension 9200 and it has been perfect to me
i have tried 3 things that i think is hard on the prossesor (im not VERY into this stuff)
Maya 8,5 Learning Edition Rendering.
in rendering simple polygons with 2D texture it barely took a second to get the rendered picture, i tried some more advance with 4-5 polygons and more textures and some camera angels, and still almost no wait!!!
The GIMP 2,2.
i tried some more advance math. with some of the filtres and with a pictures of 2GB and a very komplex editing it was max. 1-1,5 minuts to give a picture! my earlyer Pentium 4 crashed when trying to do that
Crysis Demo
nothing! the Intel Core 2 Duo run smootly and only my GPU (8600 GTS) is bottlenecking! -

Summary: The Core 2 Family sets my new benchmark for computing, supporting commerical vPRO and multimedia VIIV, which covers everyone's needs. The Core 2 Family shows more flexibility than its predecessors by miles.
Need Potency? Core 2 Duo has it no questions asked, thanks to it's two PHYSICAL-form processors rather than 'Dual-Threaded'.
The only drawbacks is the price, some retailers will charge an arm-an-a-leg just to get a small but powerful micro-device. -
